First Class Elegance in Downtown Wichita. Our family has get-togethers there once in a while, and the women folk LOVE the atmosphere, elegeance, class, and grandeur -- like dining in a French royal palace.. Its a little bit "frufy" for guys, but basically OK, anyway -- especially because the food and atmosphere are first-rate. ~~~~~~~~ And seems EVERYBODY likes the VERY tasty meals). Waitresses & waiters are very professional & classy. Certainly one of the classiest joints in the city. ~~~~~~~~ Probably a good idea to make a reservation (even though they always seem to have plenty of room around lunchtime). ~~~~~~~~ If you need to impress a client, or a date -- downtown in the daytime -- thats probably the place to go (I like it better than any of the "upscale" and "private club" dining in any of the downtown towers, although you might miss their 20-story-high scenic windows. But this is MUCH better for intimate conversation, and far less distracting.). ~~~~~~~~ Not exactly cheap, but not bankrupting (a bit less than the other local ritzy restaurants, it seems), and probably worth it for the right occasions. I seem to recall that a meal/drink/tip all fit easily under $20 per person -- unless you got the big steak or something else at the top of the menu, or drink alcohol (they have a respectable selection of wines). ~~~~~~~~ The "Cafe" (restaurant, actually) is a block south of Douglas, on the southwest corner of Broadway & William. TIP: Park (free) around back (south of building) & enter through the back lobby door of the building (theres metered parking spaces in front of the restaurant).

My wife and I were lured in by the French/Mediterranean cuisine and excellent online reviews. However, I ordered a steak and my wife had a chicken dish and both tasted like they had been cooked in the same crock pot together. Nothing was great about the meal, and it had an atmosphere that seemed to be attempting to appeal to those 60 and older. Service was marginal (we had to search for wait staff to be seated, and my wife had to go find a candle on another table since they didnt put one on our table), and the price was fairly high. Needless to say, we will not be going back and we will be telling our friends about our experience as well.

Cafe Bel Ami is an upscale restaurant in the heart of Wichitas downtown. Lunch is a great time for that business power lunch and dinner is the perfect companion for the Theatre or symphony. Tilapia and salmon are some of the best fish dishes in the city. The restaurant is well managed, professional, and courteous with a friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. It is no secret this is one of my favorites in the city. It is located in an Historic building with vaulted ceilings and old world French and Mediterranean design. Grab your significant other, enjoy Cafe Bel Ami and head out to see a show or band in the nearby, Old Town area.

This restaurant exudes elegance. It is a tour down memory lanes of old time European culture. The setting echoes that of a French royal palace and the service of a six star hotel. The food is meticulously prepared to please patrons of all age alike. The decor is elegant but not embellished, with the flair of a tea salon. The prices is not for the faint of heart as menu items definitely are not cheap. But, that is the price of a marvelous dining experience when you are looking for luxury. And if you are not going to splurge on yourself, when will you?

My husband took me here for my 54th birthday, the restaurant was not told of the occasion. When I briefly mentioned it our server said we have a surprise for you after your meal. The Entire Evening meal was exceptional!! Environment Exceptional!! The Desert was most definitely a surprise making my Birthday "one to remember " "One of the most Remembered". Cafe Bel Ami gets a 5 star for Atmosphere, Service, Food, Presentation, Creativity and perfect Spontaneity!! Highly recommended

I went in to this building on Williams Street expecting a small hole in the wall but found a very nice up town restaurant. The prices look a bit high but the quality of food was worth it. Id suggest this place to anyone who is looking for a place to take a date, or for any special occasion. I cant remember the name of the dish I had, but it was very tender pieces of steak on top of spaghetti in a lemon crème sauce. Was very good.

Finding a non chain restaurant in downtown Wichita is a challenge. Wichita is the birthplace of Pizza Hut and Papa Johns. I went there for the fatoush salad after finding the location of Google Earth.. I was so pleased I went back the next day. For the decore, service and quality of the food it is a great buy. For a long time "dry state" they have a great bar and wine list.

If there was six stars I would give this place, been to a many Mediterranean restaurants but this one beats all! Cozy and a feel of hidden treasure. Wide range of beers and wine. My wife had salmon fish, really moist, lamb shank falls off the bone! Best food and service. Did I say good food? Really good for price compared to Mediterranean restaurants in Wichita

Great service, great food. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and try either of the made-in-house desserts. If you love filets, theirs melt in your mouth. Will definitely be making the 45 minute drive from Hutchinson to come back here often!

Cafe Bel Ami!! The dining is most excellent! I highly recommend the Viennese salad! Any of their deserts are quite scrumptious!! I had dreams about it, so if you want to feel like Belle from Beauty and the Beast... this fine dining I suggest!! So be there guest!

I was excited to finally get to try this restaurant. The bread and hummus served prior to the meal was fantastic. Unfortunately, thats where it ended. I ordered the Pistachio Trout. When I arrived, it was full of bones.

Took a client here for lunch last week. The food (blackened salmon) was great and the service was not far behind. The pricing was very reasonable. It has that small local feel with big flavor. Will for sure go back.

Old school steak house with a Wichita charm. Solid drinks and great food. Appetizers are excellent, I suggest the fried lobster strips and the calamari. Steaks are excellent. Service at the bar is always good.

Saw that this place was 1 of the 50 best Milkshakes in the country, so we had to try it out. All the members of our party said 5 stars☆☆☆☆☆! They had strawberry shake, hot fudge coffee, & hot fudge caramel.

A fantastic hidden gem in the heart of downtown. The found was excellent and portions were great given the price. The atmosphere is authentic and makes you feel like youve taken a step back in time.
