Im so glad I finally stopped by to try this place. Ive been going to school right across the street since January, and kept telling myself Id make time to go by. Today I had some time to kill so I waited in the parking lot for them to open. I was going to go for the typical pulled pork sandwich, but when I got to the register to order there was a sign for BBQ tacos. They sounded delicious so I decided to give it a go even though it was sort of a strange idea to me. Usually I prefer sauce, but this pork doesnt need it at all. Its amazing all on its own, and so juicy! The special taco sauce is killer. It came with their cole slaw on top of the taco & I tried out their potato salad, and baked beans as well. Everything is homemade; none of the standard jugs of sides from a food distributor here! The staff was super friendly, and the place was spotless despite its rough around the edges outward appearance. Ill definitely have to stop by again...and again!

First time to try River Road BBQ. We took a couple family packs to a dinner in which the family are extremely choosy for their BBQ...to say the least. We were all surprised and impressed by how tender and juicy the pork and, more so, the brisket were. I typically dont like to add BBQ sauce as it can smother the flavor of the meat, but not in this case; its a very nice compliment to the meat. This place quickly climbed the ladder to one of our favorites for sure. And making a call in order couldnt have been easier. Thanks for a great dinner!

The saying goes, "Dont judge a book by its cover," and if you pass this place by because of how it looks on the outside you are missing out on some of the best BBQ around. I have never had brisket so juicy with smoke flavor that will make you want to go back again and again. Also tasted the pulled pork- amazing. The standard sides have been given plenty of attention as well, but for me the beans are just plain magical. To top it off you wont be paying a lot to taste some of the best smoked meat in town.

River Road Barbecue, has a unique way of expressing its flavor. Mouth watering brisket, and pulled pork sandwiches so tender that they melt in your mouth. And its slogan is true. Best da_n barbecue in the state!!! Just off 71, zorn ave exit roll down the window for some free smells that will lure you to blue jeans and baked beans and the best barbecue sauce in the state!!! If ever in Louisville exit and enjoy. This place is a hall of famer in my book....

Have to say if your looking for good BBQ this is hands down the best in the Ville!!! The menue is simple but absolutely delicious!! The meats are lean and juicy and the sauce is the best Ive ever had. The coleslaw and potato salad and BBQ baked beans are very flavorful. The serving sizes are more than you can eat so take home boxes are a must. A 10 out of 10 cant wait to visit again. YUMMY!!

Average at best, the brisket actually tasted like it was out of a roaster lacked any type of smoke flavor and was overcooked. The sauce lacked flavor and was way too watery. The potato salad was closer to mashed potatoes, the coleslaw had too much vinegar. If the price was more reasonable it may be worth the money but it $9.25 for a sandwich alone definitely not worth the money.

Our first visit was April 15, 2017 and bought 8 ribs for $45 (pricy) couldnt wait to take them home for dinner. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. The ribs were so tuff we couldnt eat them. First and last visit for us. I would like to add that the owner got in touch to apologize. He also sent a refund. He handled our situation perfect. Thank you.

Best pulled pork around in my opinion. Ribs are excellent. Sides are good too. I think their meats are the best because you dont have to cover them in sauce for it to taste good, which is a sign of someone who knows how to prepare cuts of meat and work that smoker. Easy and reliable to order from. Ive placed several large orders and they are always ready on time.

This place serves the best BBQ this side of the Mississippi! Im a BBQ snob, & I give this place 5 stars! The brisket & pulled pork is smoked to perfection & so tender that it just melts in your mouth. The baked beans have bits of pulled pork in them (yum!) & the potato salad is larrupin good! You wont be let down...pinky promise!!!

Owner was rude & condescending to the point where I stopped reading the menu and headed back out the door. There are other good BBQ places around town I frequent that, not only have quality BBQ, but appreciate their customers & make them feel welcomed! You need to develop some people skill bro!!!

I had heard from one source that the River Road BBQ was very good so I was excited to try it since it is less than a mile from my home. I ordered 4 rib dinners. The cost was over $60 and the food mediocre at best. Doesnt hold a candle to Dickeys BBC Pit...better food, quantity and price!

Weve lived the in downtown area for years & passed by this place many times & decided to give it a try instead of our regular bbq spots. The potato salad was better than most places. Unfortunately, the star of the show - the ribs - were tough & not what wed hoped for.

This needs 6 stars. I had brisket, pulled pork, and left with the meat sweats. I love BBQ and this is great. I suggest the pulled pork and brisket with no bread. It needs no sauce. They offer it but its too good by itself. Just go. You wont be disappointed.

A BBQ place with one barbecue sauce that is mostly grease and fat, is no BBQ place the slaw is just chopped cabbage with little oil and vinegar, the meat was tough, will never eat there again, way better places for the price and have more to offer

Amazing food, the best brisket I have had in Louisville. Small place, great price, doesnt need fancy decor the food stands on its own! Would recommend this place to anyone looking for some great BBQ!
