Wow, what a disappointment! I was looking forward to visiting this cafe for a relaxing Sunday brunch with my family. I had heard such wonderful things about how outstanding the food was and that the prices were very reasonable. Neither was true. What was true was that we had to wait for 30 minutes at least to be seated even though we had reservations. Once we were seated, the service was so incredibly slow and inattentive, not to mention, our waitress didnt seem to be bothered at all by it. We waited at least 40 to 50 minutes for our food to come to the table -- absolutely and completely unacceptable. My children were bouncing off the walls by the time we left this place -- a full 2 hours since we arrived! Ludicrous. As far as the food, I ordered a simple spinach salad with shrimp which was good but nothing spectacular. My husbands burger was just ok and my kids pancakes were ordinary and without one ounce of panache. I was also burning hot b/c the restaurant was hot and stuffy. Getting the check was difficult too -- incredibly slow. By the time we left, what was supposed to be a relaxing, easy breezy brunch, had turned into a stressful, hot and sweaty, uncomfortable, expensive, tummy growling experience. We will never ever visit this place again. It was completely lousy.

My girlfriend and I went there for our first date. I got there early as ordered a bourbon on the rocks. They had an extensive drink menu. Drink prices were a bit above where Id like to see them but its the money make for restaurants. We ordered the brie for an appetizer and it was wonderful. She ordered a vegetable dish an I ordered the salmon. Veggies are veggies to me but she said they were great with lots of flavor. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was plenty to fill me up. It is a bit of a higher class joint so plate appeal is evident. This is not a place to go for mass quantity on your plate but for great food and a good calm environment North End is the right place. It has become our favorite spot to eat as well as a memorable night. I let our server know it was a first date and all I can say is she had my back. Still is an will continue to be on my list of favorites!

Went for brunch and were so tempted by the dinner menu we went back the same day. I dont do bacon, so I avoided the breakfast burrito and opted for the vegan one. Wow! My bf preferred mine to his normal one. It was the pineapple plus salsa and black beans. Ahhh and the guac. Orange challah french toast was ok, but its hard to beat my moms. The dinner was delicious. We had tapas version chicken quesadillas which had the guac. The waitress let us try the blueberry bbq sauce which they use on their babyback ribs. My chicken n dumplings were delicious as were his salmon and risotto (though he couldve gone for a larger portion). That left room for peanut butter (mousse) pie. I know the talk is all brunch, but give the other stuff a shot. Dinner was even better!

We went here for Valentines day because my beloved is a vegan. They had a few options but they were all dishes she can easily make at home. They still put sour cream on her plate. Also it was a mexican dish with no seasoning. I got the hearty breakfast. The grits, bacon and eggs were the best Ive ever had. The sausage however, was very stong Italian and would be much better suited for a pizza. The toast was kind of dry and the pancakes were a good quality buckwheat. I dont like buckwheat but with real maple syrup it was okay. We also got humus for an appetizer and it was decent. The pita bread was a bit scorched and at $6 I would have liked a little more of it. After tip we came in at $46 a little too much for what we got.

UGH I did that thing where I totally meant to get a picture of my delicious food but forgot in an excited hungry rage and gobbled it up. Hahaha needless to say it was delicious. Shifting back to vegan diet for personal health reasons but my boyfriend is no such thing. In between jobs we stopped to grab a bite where we could both get something good. Total win. Did the cold sesame ginger soba noodle salad with tofu and as picky as I can be about tofu, it was delicious. Review of his Smoked Turkey sandwich from him was 2 thumbs up not gone quite as fast as mine but Im a human vacuum so...thats not a fair measure of judgement. Wait staff was chill, everything was quick. Pictures next time...

I went for a Sunday brunch and was served a delicious, filling meal at a very reasonable price. There are of course you staples: pancakes (moist, delicious), grits (rich), bacon (crispy, big slices), a homemade sausage patty that is spicy and delicious, among other standards. I also enjoyed their bacon, green apple, bleu cheese sandwich--I was skeptical but it was spot-on. I have not tried their dinner, but I would absolutely recommend breakfast. They open at 8:00am during the week, and I have gone now a few times. Many people are on their computers, but Im there for a good, hearty breakfast.

This place was packed and I cant imagine why. From the cold coffee to the cold yet burnt morning fries, this place seems to go down with every visit. When I brought the cold coffee to the attention of the waitress she explained she could pour me more, but it would be out of the same pot and might still be the same temperature. We were both confused. My calendar companion and I decided to try the bloody Mary. Sadly, we couldnt distinguish tomato juice for all the celery salt and Worcestershire sauce. Needless to say, another disappointment. I believe weve seen our last North End Cafe breakfast.

I went here for dinner with my husband. We had a couple of drinks at the bar while we were waiting for a table. The bartender was quite rude and slow to serve us. Our waiter failed to check on us or refill our drinks during the entire meal. Our dinners were brought out 5 minutes apart even though we ordered both meals at the same time. The portions were also quite small and we both left hungry. I felt that for the portion sizes and quality, the food was significantly overpriced. We will not be returning to this restaurant.

Good: Food is great, and attention to detail is impressive. Menu has a very wide variety. Best fried potatoes (home fries) in the city! Mushroom lasagna is not always on menu, but it is fantastic... do try when available. Atmosphere is nice as well... love the lighting and old brick walls. Service has been tops on multiple visits. Caution: Parking lot is small is easily fills up at peak times (honestly, in this part of town, any parking lot at all is a treat). Street parking is available in the area.

I called and placed my order 20min ahead of time, by the time I got there they were just now bagging it to go. The staff was super polite and awesome! I had ordered a vegan taco, which was a little to small for my liking. However it was still pretty good. The salsa that comes with the vegan taco is what truly sold me though. The salsa was so fresh and earthy I was actually quite sad when I realized I had eaten it all, the best Ive ever tasted!! Will be going back to see how their dine in service compares.
