The steering is a local legend. And my opinion the reputation does not fit the experience that Ive had in the location. The food is okay too good the cleanliness of the restaurant is less than standard its full of older tables and chairs that are unbalanced with wobbly tables old dingy looking environment. We dined in once and was busy flighting fighting off flies. So its difficult to tell you what the food enjoyment level would have been had we not had the fly problem. Ive ordered to go there a couple times once was a delivery was okay and I took go order last week for breakfast and it was the food was okay the experience was very bad almost rude. When I tried to order the items that I wanted online the system wasnt working and the Im assuming one of the managers was very kind of rude to me over the phone finally to get my order taken picked it up and she still had very bad bedside manner. I would not recommend this place only because of the cleanliness and the experience that Ive had with the staff.

If you come here id definitely bring your winter coat this place was freezing. when we came in and made the mistake of sitting in the corner. we moved and everyone that got even close to that back seating moved. they refused to turn down the a/c thats a great way to attract new costumers. The food was pretty high priced and also wasnt worth the money. i ordered a double steer burger and it was more sad then a big mac burger. It had very thin patties stuck between three buns and bunch of lettuce and mayo thrown in it. The only thing that was good was the fries for $8-$9 the fries didnt make up for the dried out tiny tasteless patties. I also ordered a salad it was huge and tasted good wasnt the best ive had but it tasted good. I came here with family but i wouldnt come back again to eat by myself. The waitress was nice kind of chatty with regulars so didnt get full attention needed but wont be back so doesnt really matter.

After watching this place on TV and reading some reviews, I decided to go there, and boy, did I make a mistake! We got there kind of late, in their defense, about 2:45 PM. I honestly cant believe that this place closes that early! Once we got inside, the waitress RUDELY informed us that we had to hurry and make a decision, because they were going to turn the grill off, regardless if we had ordered or not. I was tempted to leave then, but since I already knew what I wanted to try, I figured, at least the food would be good. It wasnt. The food was cold. I got the beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, and corn. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were partially frozen, the corn was barely warm, and the beef and noodles was just plain awful. This place has nothing going for it, the decor isnt great, the staff is rude, and the food is awful!! They should have let this place die the first time.

It CAN be crowded, but forget that. Living just down the street I was a regular here before they shut it down 15(?) years ago but since they opened up i decided to come back. I brought my kids, and they had positive feedback. One had a pepperoni pizza which apparently has good crust according to my 5 year old. The other had grilled cheese and chicken fingers which apparently were good too. I had a "10th street" which was eggs on a biscuit with sausage, gravy and cheese. It came with potatoes, toast and a biscuit. It was delicious. I reccomend coming here. It has an old style country diner feel right in the city. Their ice cream sundae is good too :)

We went thwre because it was on Triple D. Were gonna quit watching that show. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich my wife had the beef and noodles. My sandwich looked amazing but had no flavor whatsoever. But hey it was ONLY $10. My wifes beef and noodles was nothing but 2 small chunks of beef and some mushy, starchy, pasty noodles and the cook somehow made the instant mashed potatoes nasty. Hers was also ONLY $10. Now the restaurant itself, old and dirty. I live in an old house but its not dirty. It is not that hard to clean. Wont be back. I feel sorry for the people of Indy. I bet I could get them to eat a turd if I breaded it.

I have been eating there every Saturday with an out of town friend for two years. I always loved the fresh hand made twin steer burger. Saturday I took two of my grown kids with us. Were we disappointed. The twin steer was obviously a commercially produced, perfectly round, tasteless pink slime patty. When I inquired I was told that it was freshly hand made, as always. I told them that no human makes a burger that is the exact thickness and perfectly round. All this after they raised the price for the sandwich by one dollar. If this is their future, I shant on their horizon!

Great friendly staff. Food bigger and better than I expected, even judging by the menu pictures. Taste out of the world. (I got the cream cheese cinnamon roll and egg sandwhich - cheddar, bacon, eggs over medium, fried onions on sour dough bread. Was huge! Had to take some home, and my husband ate the leftovers for dinner and LOVED it too -- not to mention my 3-year-old who took one tentative nibble and then rabidly stuffed the rest into her mouth). Short stack of pancakes may be short, but it is definitely very WIDE.

Recently ate here for the second time with my family. We had a large party of eighteen and they were very accommodating. Luckily we got there early enough to be the Sunday morning crowd, but they helped us rearrange tables to seat everyone. The service has been excellent each visit and the food satisfies. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable breakfast spot (note, I believe they also serve lunch and dinner, but I have only been there for breakfast) that delivers consistently.

Some of the best mall food I have ever had.I can only wish that So Cal / Indianapolis, IN 46219malls had food courts with quietly, healthy, and fresh food like this and all for a great price.I had the two chicken breast with special honey mustard dip for $7.99. The chicken was very juicy with a lot of flavor and just perfect with the honey mustard making it even more memorable. Get you some if youre at that mall.

This restraint has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and dives and theres no question as to why; the food at the Steer-In is a warm and delicious experience. The old time diner feel mixed with well cooked favorites helps keep this place at the top of my list for places to visit in Indianapolis. If you enjoy good old fashioned cooking and you want your favorites done right then this is the place for you.
