I dont wish to be rude here.. Only 100% honest. Im a culinary grad. I went to the Culinary Insitute of America in N.Y. Im throwing that out there for those who are like, "whos this guy and why would his opinion matter?" I moved here, to Lexington, Kentucky last August. I drove past Burger Shakes every day going to and from work. The place appeared to be a 50s type diner so I decided to lookup reviews. I came across a whopping 11 good reviews. Thats not a lot of reviews for being around so long. I decided to go there and buy my family and I dinner just to check it out.. The first strange thing was.. They only accept cash! So they obviously pay their fair share in taxes.. Lol so we had to get back in the car, drive to an atm and get out cash. We came back, ordered burgers, fries and shakes. I have to be brutally honest here. I was shocked! I thought they had stolen bags of fries from McDonalds! Their burgers reminded me of "AM PMs" burgers. Although I think AM PMs burgers are better. ( I had AMPMs burgers as a kid but would never buy them today.) For those of you not familiar with AMPM, its a gas station chain on the west coast. I guess you can just say I was highly disappointed. The shakes were good. Its hard to screw up milk and ice cream although some people do. The person running the shake machin knew how to make a shake. I would never go back to Burger and Shakes again. Its so sad too bc that place looks so cool. The things I would do with that building if I owned it... On a finishing statement, if you like the place, Right on. Thats your opinion and youre right! One of my chefs in Culinary school once told me, "you can open a restaurant selling black, burnt toast and terrible tasting food and although it will never be a hit, you will have fans". Every time I come across a place like Burger Shakes, I think of that comment.. If anyone knows of a good place in Lexington, please, Id love it if you told me. My style of a good burger place, hands down would be "The Thurman Cafe" aka Thurmans located in Columbus Ohio.

***CASH ONLY!!!*** This is the unheard of quick, cheap, and good food! The burgers are $1.23 and if you order it "with everything" youre getting ketchup, mustard, pickles, and onion. Just straight up burgers, chicken, hot dogs, fries, and milkshakes. Thats it. Theres an order window, a pick up window and a drinks window. Nothing fancy, cut and dry. Then to the right theres a small lackluster seating area with 10-15 tables tops. Single stall restrooms are at the back. The burgers were small square patties, similar to Wendys, but better. The small fry is a perfect size for a single order. Theyre thick and salted just enough that me, an avid ketchup fry dunker, ate half of them sans ketchup! The large drink is definitely a large and you get it from a normal fountain drink station. Its nothing spectacular, nothing fancy, but good, cheap food.

Been driving by this place for years. Started working nearby, this year. This little place is like a step back in time. Prices cheap. Food is simple, and as good as any burger joint would have made it before everyone went to the "fancy places". I eat here every lunch. This is good food delivered by people whose attitudes are just as fine!

I do like the food. However, how filthy is this place? Bathrooms are atrocious. The place is wildly outdated. They use furniture pulled from the curb for seating. Look at the floors and the counters when you walk in. This place is absolutely filthy! They must be paying the food inspector off. There is no excuse for how nasty that place is.

As far as fast-food burgers go, it was great. My wife and I were pacing through and saw the great reviews and decided to get take out. I would highly recommend it for that. I probably would suggest another spot if you were going to dine in, as it wasnt much to write home about and was located on a very busy four-lane street.

Delicious and pretty cheap. Got 6 double cheeseburgers, a large fry, and a large chocolate shake for $20.59. Not all for myself, lol. Fed me, my husband, and my growing 9 yr old son. Were super patient even though we showed up with a huge group right at closing time. Cash only.

Great food for the price! And they dont make you feel weird if you have an odd request, kinda like the have seen it all. Very quick! And that may be an understatement. I was there at 1:30 pm so that helps. I will return!

If youre ever in Lexington Kentucky you must go there and get a double cheeseburger small fry and a Coca-Cola then get a milkshake for dessert! Eat there once and youre hooked!
