I literally was having the worst day. Just a horrible day from the moment I got up until dinning at City BBQ. The lady behind the register was named Donna. I had never been there before and myself and my 2 daughters were dinning. I was asking questions and couldnt decide what to try. A line started to form behind me, I have been in the restaurant business 20 yrs so I hurriedly made my decision bc I didnt want to hold up the other ppl. Donna was so great she wasnt worried about the 3 ppl behind me she was worried about us and making sure we had the best experience. She offered samples of all the things I wanted but I insisted that she move on to the next customers. We didnt know to pick our food up at the window. So we went and found a table by the time we sat our stuff down a different lady was bringing our order out to the table. On the tray was samples of the sides I was having trouble deciding on. It was only a couple but as we sat there and ate my spirit lifted, we were laughing and I had completely forgotten about my horrible day. I ordered extra to take home for my family and Donna brought out everything I needed to box it up without me asking. The food was amazing Im from Texas so I know brisket and yours is almost as good as my grandpas. When we were leaving I went up to tip Donna and she refused it reassuring me it was her pleasure. I have not had such a great dining experience in years. Thank you so much City BBQ and especially Donna for saving the day.

Walked in and was impressed. Appeared to be set up like the perfect Texas BBQ joint. But the test is always in the meat and not the look of the place. No beef ribs on the menu. So defaulted for pork ribs and brisket. The ribs were not tender and were dry. Tasted like they were cooked too quickly on too high a temp in the smoker and were not marinated or spritzed during the smoking process and the dry rub was bland. Ribs done right are tender and flavorful when slow smoked with low heat (a long process). Not these. And the brisket. That tasted like roast beef. Very dry. Next to no smoke ring. And the rub a bit charred and lacking flavor. Definitely cooked too quickly in a smoker burning too hot. Brisket done right is very tender with a well defined smoke ring and takes a very very long time over low temp smoke. This was not that. The sides were also nothing special. Mac n cheese was okay and the slaw while a great attempt at a vinegar slaw was on par with the brisket, too dry and lacking flavor. Wish I tried the potato salad and baked beans. They appeared better. So. Okay Ohio and Kentucky. You tried and failed. Close but just not the tender and juicy slow smoked low heat stuff you find in the deep south or Texas. i understand yall move a bit quicker up there than we do down south, but this is food you can not rush. It all tasted rushed.

Ok...so I was going to give them 3 stars because the temp of several of our sides were luke warm. One of the staff members walked by and asked us how everything was and I told him that the food was great as usual, but that it wasnt hot. He asked if he could take it back and bring us something else. I NEVER SEND FOOD BACK OR ASK FOR A REPLACEMENT. I think I have trust issues lol Anyway, he offered me a dessert. The peach cobbler. It was steaming hot and fantastic. He also sat down for a minute to chat with us and told us about how the banana pudding is made. Its not grannies recipe. I will try it the next time I go. This was at the Florence, Ky location. So after his attempts to rectify the situation, which he did. I give this visit 5 stars. The staff is always nice snd helpful. Great job!!!

We got catering from City for our wedding reception. We received SO many compliments afterward for not having "boring" wedding food! It was definitely a hit. The delivery was a little late (miscommunication on our part) but otherwise no issues. The tasting was awesome and Kim was able to answer all of our questions. Sometimes with catering the tasting food is way better than the end result, but we did not have that issue with City. Everything was exactly as it was in the restaurant during the tasting. When we first started working with City on our catering order we had issues getting in touch with the coordinator but the new coordinator (Kim!) is amazing and replied really quickly to questions and emails.

BEST BBQ EVER!!!!!! We stopped here a few weeks ago on our way to Tennessee for our Family vacation. It was recommended by the Hotel we were staying at. We were met with OPEN ARMS like we were Family!! Having never been to one, we were offered samples of everything. Needless to say we ordered a Family meal for ourselves and two teenage daughters. EVERYTHING was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I give this place 5 stars HANDS DOWN. During our to week Family vacation, we covered 6 different States. City BBQ in Florence, KY, was hands down the BEST. So good, that we will be stopping there on our next road trip!

Incredibly tender bbq served with excellent customer service and cheer! The staff were welcoming and full of southern hospitality! We called before coming to assure wed still be able to be served before their closing; the manager met us at the door and asked if we had any trouble finding the place! There are all kinds of awards all over the place for having won BBQ contests in my hometown of Kansas City! I was impressed. Great sauces and sides accompany the meal. I loved the bourbon sauce and became an instant fan of the peach cobbler for dessert. Highly Recommended.

Pretty good BBQ. We decided to go with the city sampler which had brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage, turkey and a choice of two sides. The pulled pork and turkey were good, the sausage was okay nothing special and I found it a little too salty. The brisket was good expect the majority it was mostly fat. I probably could have eaten a huge serving of the baked beans because they were too good (didnt taste like the yucky canned stuffed). Overall the food was good and even though the line was long the wait wasnt.

Counter service BBQ is rarely better than this. Every meat option is prepared properly and has an excellent smoke flavor. They recently expanded their sauce selection, which was a pleasant surprise. Theres generally a short wait once youve ordered, but even at their busiest youll get food in a reasonable time. Recommend: Pulled pork, More Cowbell (brisket sandwich w/peppers, onions and horseradish), baked beans, mac n cheese, peach bbq rib sandwich (available only occasionally as a weekly special), cornbread

The three of us shared pulled chicken and pulled pork (naked - no buns), 4 sides and drinks and still took half the pulled chicken home. Their green beans are great; we love their oil and vinegar slaw; the summer sides of watermelon and cukes with onions are refreshing; a huge variety of BBQ sauces to choose from plus the pickles, jalapenos and more from the accessories bar. We always enjoy their food, friendly service and their country-style dining area. Great place to take the family.
