So Ill start by saying this is a place you should definitely try. Parking is kind of tight so if they are busy you might have to park further away. The place itself is kind of tight on the inside but it has a very warm cozy feeling. I ordered the bluegrass special, i substituted the bacon and sausage for the geotta and Im so glad i did. You have to order the geotta! It was so delicious, i think its queen city geotta. The home fries were yummy but the pancakes and eggs were okay. My boyfriend ordered the country fried steak and eggs. You should order anything battered and fried here, the batter is soooooo good, kinda sweet which makes it really yummy! The waitress was very nice and took good care of us. Food came out pretty quickly. All in all a nice little place to eat!

I went for breakfast. Most reviews say good country cooking. The breakfast I had was below average. The goetta wasnt very good. It wasnt until I went to leave that I realized it was Queen City goetta so not even house made. Had I known that I probably would have choosen differently. The eggs were your average eggs and the homefries when I first recieved them werent even cooked all the way through and lacked seasoning. The biscuit was your standard biscuit nothing spectacular about it. Service was friendly once someone finally acknowledged us but unfortunately that took about 10 minutes. I would not go back again for breakfast. Maybe dinner is different? I wouldnt make a special trip out of it though.

I cant believe I havent reviewed this place. Its my favorite place for breakfast. Its been operating since the days of the depression and has that hometown Kentucky feel. For breakfast, I recommend the biscuits and gravy and a side of goetta. The homemade biscuits are so good, they used to run out EVERY Sunday. For dinner, you cant beat their fried chicken. I would put it up against Greyhound Tavern, Tousey House, and any 5-star restaurant - no joke. For the holidays or just because, you can order a pie. They have all sorts but I love the lemon cream. Most of the ladies and the rest of the staff have been working there for decades. They wont forget your face.

The fact that its a cottage is the best part about this restaurant. The food was forgetfully bland. I ordered the fried chicken (award-winning says multiple signs) and my companion got the open-faced turkey sandwich. The chicken tasted as though it had never been near a spice of any kind and while it was fried perfectly it lacked any kind of flavor whatsoever. The turkey looked like cafeteria turkey--which is to say absolutely delicious--but I can get a Hungry Man microwave dinner if I want that. The service wasnt amazing and was rather slow but I will admit the place was crowded when we were there.

Walked into this cute place without noticing the sign describing "goetta". So of course I asked the server and she told us what it is (beef, sausage, oats, spices) and asked if wed like a sample. Yes, please! After one taste I got a side of goetta and hubby got an omelette with goetta. French toast is very vanilla-y and cinnamon-y but delicious. Omelette was made nicely and just the right size (not too much, not too little filling). Looks like a lot of regulars come in so it must be a pretty good breakfast place. I know ours was delicious.

The internet said award winning fried chicken. Hardly. I got 2 chicken legs a thigh and a breast. One of the legs was so dark it looked like it was someone elses and they re fried it and served it to me . Bland and no taste on the crust. Then when I checked out they they rang up someone elses check on my credit card and never put a credit back on. Tried calling and got the run around for the credit. Parking sucks.

Colonial Cottage is great for breakfast food. I had a goetta omelet the last time I was here and loved it. Nothing I miss about Cincinnati food more than Goetta. The service here is always very friendly and the food comes out relatively quickly. Some good, old fashioned, homestyle cooking. If youre eating lunch, the made-to-order fried chicken is award winning, and with good reason. Well worth the 20 minute wait.

This was by far the worst dining experience I have had of late...everything everyone ordered was absolutely awful. I would not be surprised if one of us got food poisoning from eating here. My Belgain waffle had burnt bits of an unknown substance in it. The fish one of my guests got tastes like it was cooked in very old oil, and the steak sandwich that came with tater tots was a soggy gross mess.

We went for breakfast with friends who are regulars. There is a wide selection of breakfast dishes many including traditional dishes and ingredients - country ham, goetta, catfish and lots more. Terrific omelets and many good choices for dessert. In business for 80+ years and going strong. Check out the web site for the menu and more details.

Been to Colonial Cottage many times. The food always made up for the service. Today topped it off Ill never go back. Reason waitress Shawna slammed my turnips down on the table. I asked her what they were. Id never seen yellowish whitish turnips. I must say Ill never go back & Ill never recommend it to anyone else again.

For the price, its a decent value. Decent portion size, the food was fine but many of the sides seemed like they came out of the can. Was seated in a place where I could hear the colorful language and conversation of the kitchen staff and the service was kind of slow for an empty Sunday evening.

We visiter Erlanger this past week and were told to eat at the Colonial Cottage. I have never been so pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the staff were the friendliest I have ever met. I strongly recommend this as the place to "chow down" when in the area. You wont be sorry.

The foods is great and their prices are very reasonable. Only took the star off for the loud clanging of dirty dishes in the tubs next to our table and the lack of upkeep of bathroom and main walk in area. Otherwise the service was extremely fast and friendly. Enjoyed our visit.

If you are looking for traditional American comfort food you have come to the right spot. The food here is what your grandparents made and brings a certain nostalgia with it. The fried chicken is without equal in the area. I highly recommend this quaint spot.

Food is very hit and miss. We were really pleased with it on our first visit, but it seems to have gone downhill. Our latest visit will likely be our last. Some of the servers and cashiers are super rude and probably shouldnt be interfacing with the public.

Love to eat here when I am in town. Rarely been disappointed. Had the sour kraut and Mett with mash potatoes. Sausage was great and kraut was okay. Service is good and prices reasonable. Also the spinach salad is delicious. Parking can be difficult.

Horrible food.dont waste your time or money. It is like a cracker barrel, but much much worse. Fruit was bad, fish was over cooked, butter at the table had gone bad, fried chicken had no taste, corn bread could choke a pig - it was so dry. Nasty.
