The food available here is outstanding! However I do have to say the "food available" for a reason. The first time we came in was late in the evening on fathers day. So when we found out they were out of whole chickens we werent entirely surprised, when we found out they were out of cornbread it was annoying, but also not a giant surprise. It would have been nice for the server to have told us this before we ordered, rather than 10 minutes after we ordered causing us to have to grab the menus again and reorder the food. Lack of communication from the back of house and front of house seems to be a theme. So we went back on a Wednesday, early in the evening, just before your standard dinner crowd to ensure they wouldnt be out of food. We ordered their largest meal, the Fat Hog. When it came out we noticed there was only 2 sausages, when we asked about it the server went back and came out and told us they were out of sausage. Now this happens, when you are running a BBQ place you have to estimate amounts needed and sometimes run out. No worries, but the kitchen staff sent the food out knowing it was missing parts, and then the server served it not having checked that the meal was correct. This is a recurring issue with this location. Again, the back of the house and the serving staff are not communicating. I also ordered a side of brisket, just some slices of brisket itself, now on the menu there is no option for just some brisket. However they made it work by charging me for it at 3 dollars per side. And the amount was worth the 6 dollars worth I requested, and their brisket is OUTSTANDING! Overall I will be going back I will just make sure to question if they are out of anything and plan my order based on that info. Southern Smoked Barbecue has the potential to be an absolutely outstanding, even top tier BBQ restaurant. The only thing currently missing is communication between the staff. Once they get communication down and get their operating policies down this place is an absolute diamond in the rough just waiting to shine. I cannot recommend visiting them enough. They are outstanding, just make sure you find out what they are out of and double check what you get to make sure you get the right amounts. This place has become a go to for us after only 2 visits, and I look forward to many more enjoyable visits and many more mouth water pictures to post.

I just ate the best barbecue Ive ever had. I think my BBQ is pretty good. But this Barbeque is as good as it gets. Truly smoked really good. Amazing their homemade collard greens has meat in it. The argument with greens is greens aint good unless it has meat in it. Ive never had greens at a restaurant that had meat until now. Best damn greens Ive ever had. I had a brisket sandwich mac and cheese and collard greens. I walked out of the joint with a rack of baby backs and a pound of pulled pork. Oh yeah everything is homemade. Everything is from scratch. They got two kinds of barbecue sauce. You cant buy this sauce at the store. Ive been on a diet I lost 55 pounds. This place is an excuse to hit the gym even harder. Ive been praying Lord I know you heard me.

This place is ridiculous. We were being taken to our table and their was a mother who was in a wheel chair that was trying to get up from the table to leave. Her teenage son was trying to help and she all most fell, the staff just looked at her as if she was a show and my wife and I ended up helping her. We sat at our table and waited for 15 minutes and not one person even took our drink order. So we left. Upon leaving I called the manager and he said that he didnt care about our experience or the experience of the mother in the wheelchair with her kids. This is poor management and poor service. I run restaurants for a living. This was the poorest excuse of management Ive ever seen.

After reading the some early I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit! On my first visit I had pulled pork sandwich and it was great. The coleslaw side salad and tater wedges were also fantastic, I have yet to try the other sides. They have two types of BBQ sauce available regular and spicy - I really liked the spicy. They also have as an option sides of wing sauce - try the spicy garlic! We were served drinks within a minute of sitting down and we received our food about 10 minutes after ordering and this was during lunch time when there are many other people waiting on their food as well. I need to visit again, this place was great

Told the seating waitress we had 6 and before saying "welcome to the restaurant", or anything, I was told that for 6 it was a compulsory 20% gratuity(would have given 20% anyway, but, the attitude???), the food was not hot, either. The atmosphere that was trying to be created(dinner musician, who was rather good, but loud) did not compute for a BBQ restaurant. When paying the check, I mentioned that gratuity was on the table, but, that was not acceptable-it had to be on the computer and print-out. Overall, mediocre food and pathetic attitude!! Will never return !!!!!

Food was ok. I asked to have a description of a few of the sauces, and the waitress said I dont know anything about them. I ordered wings with sweet chili and they came out dry with no sauce. She took them back to kitchen and they came back to me with what looked like a jar of sauce had been poured over them. I asked what kind of wine they had, and she couldnt tell me. It took way too long to get our food considering there were only 3 tables of customers. I gave it a 3 only because my husband really liked his hot BBQ wings.

I walked in today, a Sunday afternoon about 3 oclock, to place a to-go order. It didnt seem to be very busy at all. The waitress took my order, and my food came out in a timely fashion...I didnt eat it till I got home 40 min later, but it was all very tasty and no issues that I could see. I would definitely go back! FYI: I got the full rack of ribs, baked beans, fried okra, and corn bread...it was excellent!!

Their ribs are amazing as is their BBQ sauce. Smoked sausage is tasty but a slightly strange texture. The baked beans are a pretty good side. Didnt care for the pulled pork, not enough smoke or flavor. Brisket was Ok. Id just stick with the ribs. Beer selection is poor. Bud, Miller, Coors, Corona variety. Lots of potential if they can make the other meat stand up with the ribs.

I dont know anything about the ribs or pulled pork, but I can say dont order the brisket sandwich. Its too lean and has no taste. The wood they were using was wrong too. (Ash).Ive never heard of smoking meat with ash. Now I know why. Side salad portion size was small. I gave 2 stars because the ice tea was good. Wont be back

Poor management, Awful service, and nom-professional. the employees were very rude to me and my wife. they didnt explain anything on menu as we asked several times and when food was not made to our liking the major didnt care about making the problem right. i have to say this the worst restaurant in the NKY area.
