On February 6, 2013 I visited the drive-thru at this location. I had previously posted a review, so am amending to show my second visit a year later that was even worse! When I arrived at the order window and attempted to place my order, I was told they were out of Baja Blast. I opted for Mt. Dew instead. When I got to the window I was handed my drink. It was clear the syrup was out for Mt. Dew. When she (receipt says Ashley) returned to the window, I told her and instead of just fixing the problem (there is more than one fountain at this site), she said Id have to pick something else. I said I had already picked the two things I wanted and would prefer a refund. She went from friendly to scowling in .5 seconds! After that I was treated with suspicion and hostility, never hearing another friendly word or smile. If I hadnt already paid, I would have left without the food. In early March, 2014 I went through this Taco Bell drive-thru again. My order appeared to be right and they had everything I requested. When I got back to work I began to eat my beef and potato burrito. About a third of the way through I bit into something that was large and hurt my teeth, so I spat it out. It was a hard, sandy, black object that tasted very bitter, not burnt. It appeared to something breaded and the outside breading looked nice and golden brown, while the inside looked like a ball of hard coffee grounds. I do still have most of the object. No amount of soda alleviated the terrible taste and I had to brush my teeth to get rid of it. I contacted Taco Bell via the e-mail system and told them I had photos to send. As it appears to be breaded and black in the middle, this does not seem like something "accidental." A week later I was contacted by a manager who wasnt very friendly. He said to e-mail him the photos at his e-mail address. I did and got no response. Two weeks later I followed up again to be sure he received them and never heard back. The photos are now uploaded on this site. I just this past week (June 2015) read of someone who live tweeted as they had to wait an hour in the drive-thru here and I believe it. Once youre in line theres no way out due to how it is constructed! If it is busy at all and you must eat here, at least go in so you have a chance to leave!

If it was the old crew who used to work here, Id give 5/5 stars. But apparently they moved on, which I do understand happens. The new crew doesnt understand anything, which is why I go to the one across town. When I ordered a fresco bean burrito -no cheese (redundant to say but sometimes necessary), add lettuce, tomato, extra onion- I got a burrito with no beans, extra cheese, and lettuce. Too bad my lunch break was already over. This wouldnt have been a big deal usually, since Im used to having a particular order, and having problems. But when I was used to having a team there who understood, versus now, when I get the complete opposite of my order, I am just done. Just avoid this location. Today, I was super hungry, and I tried calling to make sure they were open still (15 min before the listed close time of the night, I was 5 minutes away if they had answered.) No one answered, even though they were supposed to be open. So I just gave up, yet again, on this store. If you want a burrito from taco bell that is actually the burrito you want, dont go to this location. Until they straighten up, its horrible. Youre paying for food you cant even eat.

Worse place ever!!! They dont know how to cook food. I asked for a Gordita crunch as I started to eat it I found out it had no meat in it. My fiance had to explain to them how to make his food and has been the worst taco bell I have ever been too. Dont even know how it is still open. Instead of taking my messed up food and remaking it they decided to say to me I didnt make this and another guy I didnt make this blablabla at least take responsibility. We just went there to get dinner its 8 pm. When we pulled up it seemed a bit off. Upon dragging all of our kids out of the truck and to the door the doors are locked and upon knocling no answer. They stood there and watched us like we were a circus show. Then we called and they hung up on us. We will never ever ever come here again. We come here frequently and we have watched this place go to poop very quickly. I hope someone sees this and does something about it. Taco bell is my favorite food and now I dont even want to eat it now because they cant seem to get there crap straight.

If i could give a ZERO I would..Went to Taco Bell and your employee she said her name was Ronda Wagner...This woman was so rude and so disrespectful and she wasnt even the lady helping me.She refused to show me a breakfast menu and told me to look at the outside of the window to see what I wanted to eat....She then went on cussing and fussing about how she has worked and no one was there to help her....And you know what thats not my problem so I refused to order from this Taco Bell and as I was leaving she was still talking mess.....Taco Bell you need to train your employees a little better because cussing out a customer because she had to do her job is not acceptable....And I will never come to your restaurant again and I will tell my friends about how bad the customer service is at this place....And it happened this morning around 8:30 and I know you have cameras and look and see how your employees are....Bad business

1530 22nd St, West Des Moines, IA. Horrible place. Late night "manager" and drive thru employee are rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. Drive thru employee would not take our order, only make jokes thru the speaker and insult us. Told us he was sorry we were "butt hurt". Confronted employee and so called "manager" who was also rude and disrespectful. We spoke our minds and left then were pulled over by police because a taco bell employee falsely pulled the robbery alarm. We told the police what happened and they completely understand and said the employees wrongly pulled the robbery alarm. We left. We were regular Taco Bell customers. Never had a problem before at any location. Well never buy from Taco Bell again. Ive made all of our family and friends aware of this as well. I think that location just lost a great deal of business.

The food is as good as one would expect. A little better than average. The look of the newer store is a lot better than the older one. The reason I am writing this is the service. The person who took my order chimed up so cheerfully that I thought it was an automated system, but sure enough it wasnt when she asked "Uno momento and Ill take your order!". After a very short wait, she asked "So tell me what you want, what you really, really want." and I responded with "I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna half-pound cheesy po-tato bur-rito!" in sync to the original song. When I drove up she was smiling, bright, cheerful, and all the good things one should expect from someone whos business is service. While the food was average Taco Bell fare, the service with a smile stuck with me for hours and brightened my commute home.
