The food was just excellent. The burger was a very classic style: flat-top cooked and really juicy. Probably not the healthiest way to consume it, but definitely one of the most delicious ways. I should add that my boyfriend had the veggie burger, which he said was amazing, as well, so you dont have to be a meat-eater to enjoy the food. I also tried the roasted Brussels sprouts, and they were phenomenal. I love Brussels sprouts and bacon, so I knew I couldnt go wrong, but they were really the best Brussels sprouts Ive had in a long time. The fries were the only thing I was not that enthusiastic about, but I dont think I was disappointed in them enough to dock a whole star...so maybe just try one of the other amazing sides instead. The decor was what I expected. The booths were large enough to accommodate lager parties, which was great, and there was also ample seating available because the dining area is quite large. I thought our server was very energetic and professional, and the time everything took was reasonable for any place thats making everything to-order. I did not have the opportunity to try the beer, but when I return, I will, and Ill try to update my review to reflect that. Overall, I think its the best restaurant in that area (that isnt also twice the price). Its very gourmet eating, in a very comfortable atmosphere, for a fairly moderate price. Now I wont have to drive all the way downtown to visit Exile if Im craving upscale bar food.

I live near Barntown and Ive been there twice. The food is mostly ok. The burgers and fries are excellent but the appetizers are not. Their signature deviled eggs were extremely bland. The one time I went they had a special stuffed pepper appetizer and it was actually gross. My two older kids got the Mac and cheese. One hated it, one liked it. I thought it was a little thin and bland. My husband ordered wings and didnt care for them. Overall, service was good. Staff is friendly but could have been a bit more knowledgeable. Couldnt tell me how many ounces the kid burgers were. We got the free popcorn the first time but not the second time. Thought it was a nice touch so was disappointed the second trip. In my opinion, prices are too high. The kids meals do not come with drinks and they had no kid cups so my 2 year old did not have a lid on her drink. Also, the kids meals come with fruit, which included 7 grapes, kind of stingy in my opinion. The atmosphere is fun and loud, great with kids. The decor is very cool. I cant speak to their brews as we dont drink. I would be willing to try again but will steer clear of the appetizers and probably not bring my younger two kids.

We live in Johnston. This place is in Waukee. Why is this important, because we have driven out of our way to come here for the beer and food. Not anymore. My wife was recently in and got a sample of beer. In the glass along with the beer was a completely crusted/fossilized/hardened fly that ended up eating. After politely bringing this to their attention, her response was - " flys like beer too". Wow. If that is what Waukee has to offer for food/beer/customer service, well pass.

Came here for lunch. The food was great, the braised pork was fantastic. The burgers are cooked very well too. I didnt try the beers but it looked like a wide selection of in-house options. My complaint comes with the slow service. It took two hours from sitting down to paying for checks. They were out of fries but still charged extra for other side items. I expect they will speed up their service as they ramp up, but as for now, its not a good place for a work lunch.

Started with the deviled eggs and they had virtually no taste at all. Then I ordered the cheese and garlic wings and they were niether cheesy or garlicky. As far as I could tell it was just plain buffalo wings and they werent good at all. Service was good but didnt matter because the food just wasnt good. I wouldnt recommend going when Jethros is right down the street.

Beer is solid, kind of limited on in house options but plenty of other options. Food is lackluster. Limited menu to begin with. Burger was super greasy, fries lacked any flavor and the "entree" salads are hella small with no meat. Plus sat our entire meal with empty glasses. Hope to see this place improve, it has potential. Will try again in six months

Their beers have gotten progressively better but it seems the good ones are often out of stock. May be that I just go at poor times for their beer stock. Ive eaten many things off the menu and can vouch for their burgers and salads, but the chicken and tenderloin came soggy and bland. Pastrami sandwich is great but could use a few more slices.

Revised review after 2nd visit. I am liking Barn Town more and more as time goes on. I like the local sourcing and fresh ingredients. Both the food and beer are very good. Weve had two great servers as well. So many restaurants disappoint me after the first visit. Barn Town was better the 2nd time around. Five solid stars.

Had a couple great experiences here recently. The brews have been amazing. Seems they always have something new and a little variety for everyone. Loving any sours they create! Sat at the bar and a table. Service has been great both times! Absolutely love the decor! The Iowa map on the back wall is super cool! Bravo!

Our service was 5+ stars. The staff was prompt professional and helpful. Food was great! Recommend the flight of four. Fries are amazing and their "In house rootbeer" ranks the top! Mary was our server and she was top notch. Ask for her and you will have a great experience!

Service was horrible. We stepped away from our table to play shuffle board and they immediately cleared our table. When we tried to stop them we were told we could have the table back but they wouldnt do anything about the food they cleared away. They also overcharged us.

We received a dirty plate for our appetizers and our waitress was missing in action, the beer selection was ok (small selection). The atmosphere was good but maybe they were having a bad day. Also.... they were out of shandy.

The wait was entirely too long and the sausage patty was very very rare which Im pretty sure isnt food safe. While Im on my soap box, automatic gratuity is the death of my tips, Ill never give more when they do that

For the price of the sandwiches youd think theyd put more pastrami on the two small pieces of bread get with it !.For twelve bucks there should be a pile of meat.People dont wast your money on that joint.
