If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We have ordered from here before and its usually been fine but its really going down hill. We ordered our food and were told it would be 30-40 minutes for delivery. An hour later we called to check up on it and they told us it was coming right out. Half hour later we called again and was told that whoever told us 30 minutes lied to us because since we live so far away it would take an hour and a half... We live 1.5 miles from their restaurant. We were told that we have to talk to the owner. When they finally got here my husband asked them about a refund and he said he couldnt do anything about it. My husband then said we are very good customers and we will not be ordering from them again. The guy said good dont call us again. Besides the horrible delivery and horrible service the food was cold. We will be finding another Chinese place from now on.

We utilized their online ordering mechanism on Sunday, March 26th, 2017. Everything went through fine without any issues on the side of ordering. An hour later, we got an email saying thank you, and asking us to take a survey about our food and experience... We hadnt yet received our food, so we checked the order status and it said it had already been delivered. Next, we tried to call the store only to find out that they are closed for about 2 weeks, and just didnt bother shutting off their online ordering. After checking bank records, we were never charged for the order, but it is still ridiculous that they dont understand the need to shut off their online ordering system, or that it says it was delivered even though it was not. Very unhappy with our experience. Now its 10pm, and I am heading to the grocery store to get food to cook and eat hopefully by 11pm.

Had been thinking of chinese food all day but they let me down. Overall it was not good, wouldnt eat their food again. Nothing was gross, just seemed bland, tasteless. Pepper steak was a bit better than ok, thats not to be read as good. Fried rice was just ok. General Tso chicken was spicy but not flavorful. Chow mei fun lacked flavor. Egg drop soup was edible but one of the worst Ive had, didnt send any crunchies either..should never have to ask for those, wouldnt have helped the soup flavor. Egg rolls and Crab rangoon were weak but they did hold their crunch during delivery. I want to say something nice but for about 34 bucks all I got is that Im glad I skipped ordering more appetizers. Funny how one persons this is great 5 stars ended up being our wish we would have just gone to the QT for cheddar jalapeno sausages 2 stars.

Staff member was very polite as I ordered over the phone. We got our food in a little over an hour-- not bad! Sesame chicken was ehhhhh... it just tasted like it came off a buffet and had sat all day. My fiance liked the duck that he got. Crab rangoons have a great taste!! Love them. They were soggy- but that didnt bother me. But my real problem was the fried rice! I am not picky at all when it comes to fried rice.. I mean, how could it go wrong? But I took one bite and it literally tasted like a PETTING ZOO. I know thats weird, but its the only way I can describe it. If a petting zoo had a taste, it would be the rice we got. The smell was rancid. I couldnt even believe it. I usually like any Chinese place we order, but we will not be ordering from here again, unfortunately.

Our office decided to try something different and ordered from Royal China. Our first disappointment was trying to order an item that was on the printed lunch menu, but not actually available. These printed menus were delivered to our office a week ago, so they should have been current. We were told that we would have to pay an extra $2 to have an item (orange chicken) as a dinner item. When the food came, the most positive comment about the quality was "OK, but I wouldnt order it again". Every one else found their food to be bland, salty, or downright inedible. The crab rangoon was soggy. Spring rolls were OK, but very salty. Portions were decent, but that didnt really matter when it wasnt pleasant to eat. We wont be ordering from this place any more.

So this has to be the worst Chinese food Ive ever laid eyes on!!! $35 bucks down the drain real quick! I dont know if the cooks and owners are thinking the customers buying food from them are pigs, but it seems like the food was created with the least intention to even satisfy the customer. Food tasted horrible. The smell of every single order i got is out of this world! Tastes like youre opening a box of dead skunks! I do not recommend buying or specially eating from this Chinese food restaurant. I can assure you Ill save you money and a bad night if you avoid Royal China in Des Moines. Everything was literally too stinky or tasted rotten. Save yourself the time and money, I wish I wouldve seen the reviews before ordering! 6-17-17 6:42pm.

Was looking for a different Chinese delivery place for tonight. I placed my order around 6:30p, and didnt receive my food for two hours! Granted, my work is on the South Side of Des Moines, whereas Royal China is way out in the Eastern suburb of Pleasant Hill, but I dont think it should have taken two hours. But Im over it. The shrimp lo mein I ordered was very good, and the shrimp didnt taste like it was hanging out in the back of their freezer for a few months like SOME of the other Chinese take away restaurants here in Des Moines. Steamed white rice was delicious, too! crab rangoon and egg roll were nothing to write home about. Ill give this place another try sometime!

Should have listened to the reviews below....everything was BLAND! I got Veggie Chow Mein, with no hard noodles in it, no flavor to the veggies...just tasted like veggies no sauce. Hot and sour soup that tasted like , well nothing to be honest. Potstickers were mushy...overall I was pretty dissatisfied. I will say ordering online was easy and delivery was quick....although my doorbell doesnt work so I put that they would have to knock and after one knock the delivery person had their face pushed against my door looking inside (he waited less than 15 seconds...). It was a little creepy.

I thought that some Chinese food would be good. Ive had a few bad experiences there but Ive looked past it being a cook myself. But last night was bad. I was the only customer in the place so I thought it was going to be a good meal. I ordered steamed pot stickers and sesame chicken. The pot stickers were still frozen inside!!! I told the lady and she took them back and brought out some replacement ones that were hot on the inside. I dont think Ill go back. Ill go to a buffet near South ridge Mall.

Terrible customer service! I ordered delivery and was told it would be there in one hour, I called an hour and 15 minutes later and was told the driver would be there in 10 minutes (he wasnt). Called back and asked for a refund but he kept trying to tell me that the driver was almost there. After arguing he finally cancelled my order and I still didnt get my food.... Considering this is the first time ordering from them they wont get anything positive from me!
