This is a pretty cool little spot! The emphasis here should be placed on little, as its a very small space. They have four tables, with seating for a total of 16 people. A couple high chairs are available for those with kids, a big plus in our case. The menu has 12 total items on it. Four appetizers which are primarily spring roll based and a good variety of main dishes considering there are only eight of them. The spread includes Pho, Bahn Mi, a couple duck dishes and a couple of pork dishes, as well as a duck noodle soup. Between my better half, are two little dudes and myself, we split a beef Pho, a Bahn Mi sandwich and some pork egg rolls. They were all seriously good. The sandwich was the first real authentic one weve had here in a long time. Really flavorful, good size for sharing and very authentic. The pho with some of the best weve had in the area. The soup only came in beef flavor, which included both steak and meatball in it. The fact that they only had a beef option is really the only shortcoming that we saw. The broth in the soup was phenomenal and it was a good size for splitting between two people. They had smoothies which we did not have a chance to try, but Ill look very good. Its unclear to me if they have tapioca balls to put in it, but if they do that would be extra credit! Word to the wise, get her early because they often sell out of duct and apparently its very good. Another in the long list of really solid ethnic options that seem to be growing in the Iowa City / Coralville area. Absolutely worth trying and if youre not in the mood to wait for a seat, they have takeout options so theres really no reason not to check this place out!

Very small restaurant and I gotta say, wonderful things come in small packages and this restaurant is a hidden Jem! The spring rolls are full of flavor and ingredients, the bowls are full of beautiful fresh ingredients, meat is smoked and grilled to perfection. The duck is wonderful too. I recommended the number 7, come hungry the servings are great! Its a family owned business, nothing fancy or over the top when you eat in. Worth the drive.. We come from Amamosa!

Best phone in town! A small place hidden away near the Sycamore Mall. Definitely a "ma and pa" owned restaurant. Highly recommended if you want true Vietnamese food. The nice lady that owns/runs it is one of the kindest people ever and she cars for the quality of her food! I will never go anywhere else for pho. Iowa Citys best pho!

A relatively new family owned restaurant in the area bringing a good selection of Vietnamese foods. The pho is fairly priced at 11$, and is very very good. It includes all the authentic ingredients, tendon, beef, fatty beef, tripe, and meet balls. A nice small place to have some good food!

Solid service, good prices, great food. Got the duck soup, which was amazing. Pork egg rolls were hot and tasty too. Friend got the pho, which he liked too. His iced coffee was a little sweet though, and nothing too memorable. Just a little hard to understand the owner.

As someone who gets pho every chance, I found the pho at Sun Cafe to be underwhelming. There were chunks of fat in my broth and a solid layer of oil on top. I left most of my bowl there because I couldnt continue. My friend got chicken pho, which was not too fatty.

Truly authentic. Best Pho in town and is fairly priced with large portions. Menu has a lot of Vietnamese home cooking. Definitely a hidden gem of IC. ~Raised by a Viet Cong assasin so I actually know what Im talking about

Wonderful Vietnamese food prepared by truly wonderful people. Simple, familiar menu with its own ("country style," if you ask Lin) amazing flavors. A total gem of eastern Iowa.

Pho was awful beef pho had MEATALLS TENDONS AND FATTY BEEF IN IT. Which isnt in the menu. Egg rolls were not fresh and they were cold! Would never go back to this place.

Taste okay as a Vietnamese restaurant in the Midwest. But their pho is a bit overpriced (~$11 and over $13 including tips) as eating in a small restaurant.

Simple menu. Authentic flavors. Duck is excellent. Not many options in the drink department. Very good service. Theyre going to need more tables.

Perfect for a quick bite, and one of the few Iowa City restaurants serving pho, banh mi and other Vietnamese dishes.
