How does a place with such good reviews have such horrible service? I was served soured gumbo, and the etouffee had a similar taste so I figure something had spoiled. I only ate a few bites of my meal and couldnt get any further than that. I asked the person I was eating with to try what I was eating to see if maybe there was something wrong with my taste that day. They couldnt get past just a small taste themselves without being disgusted. They dont de-vein their fried shrimp either (they leave the poop vein in). When we approached the register to pay for our bill I explained to the lady who was also our server, who wasnt very friendly to begin with, that there was something wrong with the gumbo and that it had soured, or something spoiled was used as an ingredient. She went and got the manager and the manager came out screaming about how she just tasted the gumbo, and theres nothing wrong with the gumbo. I asked her to take a look at my plate to show that I had hardly eaten anything off of it. She proceeded to tell me that I had no idea what "authentic"gumbo tasted like, and thats the only reason I didnt like it. Im sorry but Ive been eating gumbo for as long as I can remember. I make gumbo all of the time. If youre going to tell me about "authentic" gumbo perhaps you should have "authentic" ingredients this was more along the lines of shrimp soup. We werent trying to get anything for free we just wanted a discount considering I didnt even eat anything really off the plates other than a few spoonfuls. She started to tell me that I was just being cheap and trying to get a free meal, and as I started to explain to her that I was not looking for a free meal she told me to get out and to never come back. Finally her and I agreed on something! I can promise I will never be back and I will leave this review here, and any other possible place to leave a review. I will also leave this review on a final note that I had to vomit within about 30 minutes, and I had diarrhea for the next 2 days so did the person that I was dining with. Also on a final side note the couple next to us had ordered gumbo, and their bowls were full too when they left. Ive never been kicked out of an establishment, and the person I was dining with is my older mother, and shes never been kicked out of an establishment either. Absolutely rude considering nobody had raised their voice, and nobody was trying to demand anything.

Food! Awesome! Service, the worst I have seen in a while. I wish there was a 2 tier rating system. This is really a nice truck stop that simply has a few issues to address. We entered the cafe where 2 employees were present, 1 sweeping and the other approaching a table. We stood there for about 30 secondso without being greeted. I said "excuse me, do we seat ourselved?" And in a snappy tone, the one sweeping said "that side." My husband ordered water as I went to the restroom. I returned, seconds before the waitress brought the drinks. She was loudly talking with the other lady, put the waters on the table, did not say anything even when I said "thank you" and my husband said "thank you maam." We almost got up and walked out but a dear friend said the food was great. Through out the visit the waitress was simply rude. The food, however did arrive hot and tasted like home cooking. Our table was never pre-busted and we were never offered a drink refill, dessert, or if everything was satisfactory. She took our order and brought the food. On the other side of the property is Tony the tiger, hes housed in a large clean setting and well taken care of. There is a drivers lounge in a trailer which was clean with 2 clean showers. The mens restroom was located outside the store and was disgusting. The womens restroom inside the store was clean and well maintained. This would be a great truckstop with a better staff and better kept bathrooms. To recap, the food was worth dealing with everything else. Kudos to the cook.

The service was subpar. I entered and was ignored for a few minutes before I was asked if I was being helped. She had been standing there the entire time so clearly I hadnt. She gave me a menu ignored me for a few more minutes and took my order. I asked for a cup of ice and it was like I asked for her to freeze it herself. Once my food was placed on the counter it took even longer for her to give it to me even though it was to go and she passed it 4 times. Another employee informed the waitress she had a customer waiting and she replied ok he can wait and she stood there wrapping forks in tissue. In the back while waiting for my food a cook had a huge stack of frozen hamburgers so high that she had to lean the raw patties on her chest. The patties were directly on her clothing with no protection between. This is my second time and spending 20 dollars on a meal of shrimp and catfish, you kind of expect a better caliber of service. You expect for the waitress to not roll their eyes when something is requested. I am still eating my catfish because I wont waste 20 dollars but I wont stop by again and definitely wont stay hungry a 100 miles to be treated so poorly.

I absolutely loved the food here! We had the Gator Bites to start out our meal and they were very, very good! I had the Cajun Sampler and my husband had the catfish. Both were fresh and delicious. Service was fantastic. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable. The bathrooms were very clean. The salad bar leaves something to be desired but it really isnt a salad kind of place. Overall, our experience there was awesome! We will definitely go back if we get back through Louisiana! Highly recommended!!

Talked my boyfriend into stopping here. Were on our way through to Texas and he has seldom had cajun cooking. The,seafood platter was delicious and the lima bean soup, was to die for. Our waitress was super nice and unlike what someone else said she was ok with us sharing. She kept our glasses full and gave us to go boxes, and drink cups. She even helped pack up our to go boxes. I would definately recommend this cafe- excellent place for truck drivers to stop.

We ate here very late at night. No tea was made. I had Jambalaya and it was tasty. Server have me some soup with crawfish because I had never eaten it. It was okay. A bit fishy for me but tolerable. I appreciated being offered something to try. Also I tried alligator sausage...yum. This is a small and aging place but clean.

We had to wait 45 minutes for our dinner the service sucked we watched a gentlemen get so mad from waiting he left and my breakfast was so over done I couldnt eat very much of it,,the only good part about this town was the tiger outside and the lady at the gift shop was very nice
