Ok good things, one of the new kids on the block, as in opened in January. Have Fonte coffee from Seattle because they say its good but also because that company hooked them up with their business gear. Have messenger coffee roasters coffee now. Yesterday I had a cold brew that was made from their messenger coffee and it was tasty. Took it to go. Today I had a cappuccino and a crossiant and they where tasty. Bad thing, no wifi. After the fact of buying my vapo and crossiant I asked if they had public wifi, the gal said no. Its my bad for not checking before hand. Had I known they had no wifi, I would have most definitely gives and found another cafe/coffee shop. I am about the whole "but local" thing, but no wifi will almost always change my mind. And yes thats the picky thing im going to complain about this coffee shop and rate it 3. Just another complainer with his opinion, take it or leave it.

I had the macchiato and ultimate croissant. My wife had an iced mocha and Iowano on a croissant. The coffee was bad. My macchiato was extremely bitter; tasted like it was over-extracted. Either they use terrible coffee or the servers dont know how to operate an espresso machine. My wifes iced mocha was also not good. Very thick like when you make hot chocolate with milk. My sandwich was good, my wife thought hers was too cold. Furniture seemed cheap. They dont have wifi which bothers a lot of people, but I dont mind. I hope they can focus on improving their coffee quality.

Three of us stopped here with our toddlers on a Saturday morning. The service was excellent (friendly, polite, and prompt service) and the atmosphere was great- there were just enough people to make it cozy but not crowded. We had drip coffee, an Americano, and iced tea. They arrived in a timely manner, and all were delightful. Their pastry selection was good (not Bread Garden good, but plenty to choose from). The croissants made for a perfect late morning snack. We will definately be going back.

The best mochaccino I have ever had. the coffee is delicious and reasonably priced, and the sales are on point. Downside is no Wi-Fi, however, when I go I find myself spending more time talking and interacting with friends and less time on my phone, and isnt that the point of getting coffee and a quick bite with a friend or just relaxing and unplugging from it all? I may not come here to study but Id still stop in and grab a coffee and a rainbow salad to go anyday

Great coffee - came here once - got a cappuccino. Only thing is that they dont have wifi - which I guess creates a nice ambiance free of college students, and people on their phones.. but yeah. Maybe provide books, board games for people to entertain themselves with then? Also - while service was friendly enough - they didnt seem very passionate when I visited (5pm on a weekday).

Updated review: still great coffee (probably my favorite in downtown Iowa city), I am removing stars because there is no wifi. When cortado employees tell me to just use the wifi from next door, whats the point of not having it? Great coffee and espresso drinks. I tried the cortado (I had to, its in their name), and it was delicious.

Great food and coffee. However, I have to agree with other reviewers, the choice not to have wifi is non-sensible when a large number of customers here will be students. This would be an easy fix and make a huge difference in the reviews. I probably wont be back here since every other coffee shop has wifi.

I ordered hot chocolate and a ham and swiss sandwich. The hot chocolate is not very choclatey. It is mostly warm milk. The sandwich saved them because it was delicious, melty and warm on a flakey croissant. However everything on the menu is over priced. Not good especially since it is on the pentacrest.

Best dirty chai tea and coffee Ive found on campus! The atmosphere is mainly for talking/meeting up, as there is no wifi, but I havent found that to be an issue. Since the location is so convenient, I can easily stop by and get something to go if Im studying. Staff is very warm and friendly!

Not sure why you would bother opening a coffee shop without wifi right across from a big ten school campus. I love coffee, but you cant penalize students for wanting good coffee. The employees also kept hitting on girls.

I ordered a ham, egg, and Swiss cheese croissant it was really delicious. I talked to the owner and he said that they bake their pastries fresh everyday. It was leas than $5 and was a smaller portion but well worth it.

Great place! Coffee is great, pastries were very tasty and the Iowano Sandwich I ate was magnificent. Staff seemed very nice as well. Met the owner, very nice guy and he knows his coffee well! Cant wait to come back!
