Because there are not negative stars. I came in on Nov.4th and ordered a burrito bowl around 11:30pm. My food was cold, so I requested that it be warmed up. To which I was told that there is no microwave. I asked for a refund. I was then charged and refunded the incorrect amount on Nov. 7th. Charged: $8.48 refunded: $7.16. Granted this is not a huge difference but my food was cold and I ordered warm food and I was told I would get a full refund. I then called and Nick the manager hung up on me because I used an elevated voice with him. I agree I was pretty upset when I was told I had to come back down to the store, but there is always a way to calm someone down. So I calmed myself down and I called him back, he was nice, then realized it was me and yelled at me. I told him that I was going to do my best to speak calmly and I tried asking why I needed to come down to the store when they should have a record of my order since I was just billed. to which he told me to "use my tiny little head and think." I tried to explain that the people working that night never gave me receipts, but before I finished saying that, I was hung up on again. How am I suppose to know what you need for the refund if you keep hanging up on me?

You can tell what kind of a manager a place has even when he/she is not there. Everyone who works here looks miserable every time Ive come here. If food tastes better with love, than the opposite is certainly achievable as well if everyone hates their job. The employees have frowning faces and generally feel like they would prefer if you never walked in the door. When you ask for peppers four times because each time you ask for more you get about two thrown on irritates me because who wants a huge burrito with three pieces of fajita peppers? Heres half of the burrito that is so unedible that I will be throwing it the garbage. Chipotle is conveniently across the street.

My experience is the same as STs. Pancheros was awesome in 1996 and we sometimes drove from Cedar Rapids just to get the 2 pound burrito. I also really liked the tacos which were muy ricos with cheese sandwiched between two tortillas forming the wrap. Well, those days are gone but Pancheros still serves a tasty though oddly wet burrito. More than adequate, but somewhat short of great. I still recommend this place as a good value in a city that really should have a higher level of cuisine for its demographics.

in 1998, this place was awesome. They were the legendary home of the two pound burrito. They had like 40 items on the menu and every one of them was delicious. in 2009, this place ranks among the worst taquerias ive ever been to. There are 5 items on the menu. The meat is either dry or undercooked, and often gristly. Their guacamole, a dish thats really hard to screw up too bad, is too salty. The service is generally unpleasant. Not that theyre rude, but its like they dont care if youre there or youre not.

The Pancheros on Clinton Street is a nice place to grab a quick lunch on a quiet day. The decor was amazing and the atmosphere really chill. However could imagine the place being super crowded on a busy day. We ordered beef burritos and were disappointed. The meat was thoroughly cooked, however everything else just was not as fresh and good. The portion was alright but definitely not the best burrito. Its located centrally and also open late hours.

Really disappointing for the original pancheros. I was in town and excited to show off a hometown favorite. The girl working the burrito press scowled the entire time. The other staff werent any friendlier. I reminded the register guy that I was paying $8 a burrito while sober and didnt appreciate them arguing with me about my order. This place has become way to accustom to serving drunk students sub-par food.

Friday night around 11 pm it was fresh and the employees were friendly...today I found a dead bug in my food, nothing was fresh it tasted like everythings been sitting for hours and everyone in this location was incredibly rude and acted as if I was inconvieniencing them by asking for veggies in my burrito. I am extremely disappointed in the cold bug ridden food. I highly do not recommend this location.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Always so rude. Seriously a man manning the bathroom instead of making burritos- they are more concerned micro managing their customers than actually providing a service to us. I wanted A BURRITO and left furious because they were too focused on the line. Provide good service and leave your patrons alone. Seriously, love the food but will probably never go back

I dont like this pancheros, someone went once for me to this pancheros, and they messed up the order, I went for myself, they didnt cook the tortilla fully so it was just raw flour, it tasted awful, got another one and they put two tortillas, they werent quite good either, I ended up getting kind of sick. I wouldnt recommend it.

I love Pancheros but at this place, the crew seemed like they want to show off how fast they are. My food was not even warm enough. I asked if they had more rice, the crew just tossed the container. She wanted me to just accept the food. Poor customer service. Not a welcoming place. Discouraged to back to this location.

Im a senior right now, Yeah I like Pancheros until my junior year. But they changed! They usually had a big burritos few years ago but right now it is too small! Even my friends noticed their burritos becomes smaller and smaller as time goes by ! Also, I hope they dont charge extra $1 for quesso sauce!

Very dissatisfied with the service as well as food. Employees werent nice at all. The food wasnt that good and the portion was ridiculously small (employees made it seem like they were having to pay for everything out of their paycheck). First and last time ever going to a pancheros.

The service was awful, there was no queso or steak, and the burrito maker was downright disrespectful. He just pointed at customers and said "what else" when adding ingredients. If I was the owner, I would be embarrassed. I will no longer be eating at this pitiful establishment. Smh.

As someone unbiased in the Pancheros vs Chipotle debate, Im afraid I must declare Chipotle the winner. Pancheros tastes fine, but the quality of their ingredients leaves more to be desired and makes the meal taste a bit bland (thus the 3 star review).

a fair burrito after party...everybody goes there because it is one of the fewest place that open late in Iowa City downtown...I had a pork burrito...it was ok...you pay extra for guacamole sauce...it comes with black or red beans, tomato, rice...

TL:DR, Go here when youre drunk at 2 am and never again. CONT. Expect a mostly dirty restaurant with its location crunched in the college town of Iowa City. Okay late night snack, but not very pleasing to look at how little it gets cleaned.

Burritos are significantly smaller than what you would you from any other pancheros. The AC is either broken or just turned off. Ingredients are not fresh at all, except the tortilla, of course, however the location is very convenient.
