So this is the short version: We waited for an hour to watch a chef screw up the teppanyaki routine because he was about 80 and serve enormous amounts of sesame seeds and mushrooms that also had small bits of steak and chicken in them (that were actually pretty good). I dont mean to sound so angry, but I really was pretty frustrated. The whole point (ok, 80% of the point) of a Hibachi routine is the show (and Ive seen some pretty good ones), and this wasnt one of them. I almost got skewered in the face with a spatula because the chef lost control of it while spinning it around. I actually feel pretty bad for him, because he may or may not have been having a stroke during the routine, and if I didnt know any better Id say it was his first day. On the upside, the food was pretty decent (I had the steak and chicken), but it wasnt really worth the hour of watching everybody else eat. Just go to lunch there. The food is much better and the service much quicker. Also, if you have a birthday, by all means go there, we had no fewer than three last night - one of which inexplicably involved a German chocolate cake (at a Japanese restaurant? Does nobody see the irony in that?). I think I might be wasting my time, though - I saw one person invent a paper/rubber band chopstick aid which was actually pretty ingenious for what it was (lazy), and nobody else even tried. And it is Eau Claire after all - so people of Eau Claire, enjoy your shrimp! And lots and lots and lots of mushrooms!

The chef who made our food was kind of cocky, so it made me pretty uncomfortable because he acted like he was better than all 7 of us. Oh, and sitting next to a bunch of empty seats would have been awkward, so really its more of a "group of 8" place... :/ Which isnt cool because I really just want to get the food and get out... each time Ive ordered shrimp I get like 3 pieces and thats it. Everyone else gets like what 20!?! Like wtf they didnt even pay for theirs! In return I got my daiquiri for free :/ But still its not cool because thats .the only reason I even wanted to go... Each time Ive gone there, the chef has messed up, just to tell the "Sudoku" joke... its not really him messing up, okay? They pretend they messed up. Dont be fooled lol XD... -_- it gets old fast hahahha. but yeah. the shrimp is awesome, love the dipping sauces just wish someone could tell me what they are!?! what the heck was I eating!?!?!??!?!?! cant find the names of them anywhere! food is good, overpriced, and the guy told me he made over $135 in tips that night. When I was a waitress I only made $10 per night in tips... :/

This was our first time having Habachi and it was amazing. The food was fantastic, but I didnt like the fried rice. Our chef was really great and I loved how traditional the place was. I didnt like that may date and I had to sit with strangers ... a little awkward but the food was so good that I got over it quickly. It looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but its nice and cozy inside. I think the price is good conpaired to other places Ive been since. I wouldnt recommend it for a dinner for two but more of a large party or family dinner. I loved the shrimp, calamari, and the ginger dressing :)

I really *wanted* to like this place after reading the glowing reviews here. My bad experience here might have been the result of the kid chef who didnt put on that much of a show nor did he cook the food properly, resulting in a certain condition known as "the runs". Cook the chicken thoroughly at the proper temp, please. The nicest thing I can say about my evening here is that I didnt get stuck with the obnoxious 20something drunks occupying the other tables - I was seated with a very mature couple and their distinguished Korean friend. The only saving grace, really.

I had tried going there more than four times despite the reviews that make them look more as an average restaurant. I once try it on a Sunday and check this out they don’t open on Sundays. What restaurant does that? Then tried on a Saturday and they are only open for 4 hours! Friday looks like the only option for a casual reason, but this last time was the one who really does it. Went to the place and they are close on vacation. I don’t know if God is sending me a message but frankly is very questionable how they are able to make business whit this economy.

my boyfriend and i took my little nephew out to eat with us and it was a disaster. we went to sit down...and it was really awkward because they didnt give us a kids chair (high chair) so my nephew sat on my lap the whole time. and then he started crying and it seemed like the people who sat with us and the people in charge of the restaurant were annoyed. so my boyfriend and i just left. i think it would have been a nice experience. just dont plan on bringing anyone under the age of 10.

If you are looking for more of a show, a loud atmosphere and just "OK food then go to Fujis Steak House. If you are looking for a quieter more laid back atmosphere and amazing food then this is the place. My wife and I go about 1x per month. (dont want to get too much of a good thing). We have tried many other restaurants in Eau Claire and none of them compare to the food here. Yes it is true the show isnt up to par with some other Hibachi restaurants, but we go for the food.

This has got to be one of the best restaurants in the area - the staff is always friendly and the food is amazing (they really do have the best shrimp in town). There can sometimes be a wait, but weve just gotten used to making reservations ahead of time, and that makes it go a bit quicker. My friends and I are not big into the hibachi grill "show" of other similar places and the more relaxed show of Tokyo is enjoyable. Definitely recommend it :)

I stepped into the kitchen on accident, there were people of many different races, standing around and eating, there was piles of dirty dishes, there was lots stains on the walls, and "crud" built up on the stoves. We went on a sunday night, which was fantastic, but the servers were slacking in getting us what we wished for. Also, the prices are extremely high, for the quality of atmosphere and food.

Sign says Best Shrimp in town I was extremely sceptical as Im very picky w/ my shrimp... but they were right! Amazing Shrimp. My 4 year old daughter cant stop talking about it and it is now her favorite restaurant! Pretty pricey, but a fun experience. The chefs were all great with my daughter and bent over backwards to have fun w/ her. My only complaint is the entire dinner is like 2 hours long.

Ive been going to this restaurant for over 15 years now. It was always my choice of where to eat on my birthday as a kid and still is my favorite food in Eau Claire. Both lunch and dinner are delicious and the wait staff is on point dang near all the time (service employees cant always be perfect). About to head there for lunch now, check this place out if youre in town!
