This interior of this bar, and its predecessor, have not drastically changed in over 30 years. What has changed? While the old bar focused on import beers in bottles and cans and left domestic macrobrews on tap, the new place has focused on offering a huge variety of good import and microbrews on tap! The menu selection has changed too: gone are the Pachyderm and some of the standard bar fare. Bricks has a very good BBQ brisket sandwich and other specialties to go along with a modest bar fare type of menu. The cooks also seem dedicated to sticking around longer, and during times when the old bar did not serve food. Finally, the staff has changed: In the final years of the old bar, the staff was renown for their spotty quality and lack of dedication. Now, the core group of servers is once again quite knowledgeable about the beers they serve, and strive to have staff on hand to meet the needs of the customers. I have been impressed by the old place. Too bad the city built a crappy parking lot next to it so that it cant expand.

I used to go to this place a lot. When I mean a lot, I mean damn near twice a week. It used to be a great place because of the good balance of a bar with plenty of great beers on tap, decent enough food and a very social staff that went the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Wait staff was always prompt and to the point, and actually kind, not just polite. THAT HAS ALL CHANGED. Some points to make about the NEW Bricks: 1. The food is better than before. 2. The beer selection is about the same. 3. The new staff is abhorrently under-trained, and absent-minded. Another review said they are racist, but it seems they are just uneducated. 4. The bartenders do not seem to know how to make a drink properly, i.e. Whiskey Sours that taste like death. You decide if this the place you would like to spend an evening.

Huge selection of on tap beer...they have everything from the standard domestics to local crafts. Food is amazing...from what I understand the meat is smoked on site, and sauces are homemade. Service is friendly and quick. Open for Lunch and Dinner, open late for the bar crowd. Located in the downtown bar district it is in the middle of CR nightlife. On street parking but also adjacent to the 1st/2nd Ave parking ramp.

Drove downtown to try the place tonight. I sat at the bar and waited for the guy to finish getting drinks for the waitress. Then two local couples came in and sat at the bar and he greeted them and asked them what they wanted. He got them menus and continued to ignore me so I walked out after five minutes. Maybe I was dressed too nice for his tattooed tastes. Pathetic.

Bricks has great food, especially their smoked meats, my favorite being the smoked wings. They also have a great craft beer selection and the staff isnt oblivious to its rotating stock. I would say this place is usually a bit loud for my taste, and service can sometimes be slow but still a place I would recommend and its usually a great experience.

Fantastic little bar in downtown Cedar Rapids. Long and skinny with brick and brass and wood, there are two floors for seating and several.dozen beers on tap to choose from. Wings and nachos are solid, full selection of premium liqours to wash them down with. Multiple big screen displays to catch several games from any seat in the place.

Good ole Bricks. Good place. Service is good. I was disappointed that they did away with the hand cut chicken strips. Menu wasnt changed and the waitress said nothing. Imagine ordering Prime rib and getting prepackaged roast beef! Ugh. Maybe you do the hand cut strips one day week if you stopped making money on them?

This is my favorite craft beer bar in Cedar Rapids. They have a huge selection of very good beers (60 taps) with something in just about every style. Service is great even when theyre busy. The food is way above typical bar food. Try the Burt Ends with fries. Arguably the best french fries in the area.

Great food and great beer! The bartender Jared was exceptionally polite, nice to talk with, and provided excellent service. I enjoyed the bar atmosphere and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good dinner and drinks locale! I would definitely come back again!

Amazing service, consistently diverse and rotating tap list. Decent BBQ and really good sausage sammich. Try the smoked wings and Lil Stevey P sandwich. Well run bar and friendly staff. I highly recommend this as a first rate local beer bar. Five stars!

Bricks..perfect for anyone that wants to watch 8 TVs of the hawkeyes losing by 20. They refused to change one of the TVs to a different game, even though no one seemed to be watching. Pretty big bummer...had positive experiences up to this point.

Truly one of Cedar Rapids GREAT bar and eatery. The BBQ is to die for and a weekly staple at our office. We have a branch office in Milwaukee who times the visits to coincide with the Brisket or pulled pork menu. Its that good!!!! Thanks, Mark

Got the sausage link sandwich. Sausage casing was tough so couldnt take bites without pulling out of bread. Bacon had more fat on it than prefer. Onions were not sauteed which caused it to overpowered flavors.

I was passing through for a business trip and decided to stop in. I was super pleased. The food and atmosphere was great! The music was not loud and was my type of music. I was very pleased.

Hands down, the best beer bar in CR. They have a ton of taps that they rotate a lot, but, more importantly, the bartending staff actually knows all of the beers.

Service was really slow to receive our drink and food menus. Nothing spectacular about the food but if I were to come for a drink, this place has a lot on tap.

Good food, and stellar beer offerings for those chasing the bourbon barrell aged varieties. Happy hour specials make this affordable as well as top notch.

The service in the middle of the week was terrible, very understaffed. Great food and drinks but took nearly an hour just to pay the bill.

Very good food. The perception of what a top notch beer list is is relative. But as long as Bells is somewhere on the list its all good.
