For the last few years, I have made a point of ordering all of my food to go, so I can avoid the terrible, rude and slow service. Until recently, that worked out well. The first issue was a few months ago when one of the items I ordered and payed for was left off the order. I called them up, and they were very helpful offering to give me the side dish free next time I ordered. Two weeks later, my burger had the wrong kind of cheese, and the pineapple was missing. This time when I called, I was told by the man working "Well what am I supposed to do about it" and was eventually advised to come the next day during the day to talk to someone who can help me. The next day I spoke to a gentleman who apologized for how I was treated and informed me that in situations like that, the employees are supposed to call him to get permission to do what they need to to make it right. He offered me a gift certificate, which I accepted. Honestly the fact that he listened instead of arguing meant more than the gift certificate. This was several months ago. I have still not received the gift certificate. I have ordered several more times without too much incident. Today we called to place an order, and also ask if the gift certificate was ever sent, since we have not received it. Bill said he had to check the records, then hung up on my girlfriend. I called back and said "I think someone just hung up on my girlfriend" If the answer had been a simple apology for the misunderstanding, I would not be upset. Instead, Bill proceded to yell at me about how he did not hang up on her. I said I did not call to argue and simply wanted to place an order, and inquire about my gift certificate. Bill continued to argue about whether or not he hung up on my girlfriend. At this point, I asked when would be a better timne to call and speak to a vmanager or owner. Bill did not answer and continued to yell. I hung up. After taking a minute to calm down, I called back, hoping to get someone else to ask when I could speak to a manager. Bill answered again. This time, he proceeded to tell me that the two times the kitchen made mistakes on my order were my fault for trusting them to prepare the food I ordered instead of something else, and thats why for the last 20 years, he always checks his take out orders before leaving a restaurant. I informed him that ever since the incident I do check my order. He continued to yell at me about how I should have been doing that in the first place. At this point, I lost my temper and I did call him a dick. I then asked when I can speak to an owner again. Bills response was "You can talk to both the owners, it wont make a difference. We all know youre a dick" At this point I hung up. I dont even want the gift certificate anymore. If this is an acceptable way to treat a customer, I will take my business elsewhere. Its really a shame, because I do like the food, but its not worth being treated like crap. NEVER AGAIN

This is a place one wants to love particularly if one is accustomed to more urbane settings than Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Weve tried it any number of times and have finally decided not to return. Weve usually been satisfied with the food; in fact, the breakfast items are top notch and abundant. What drives us not to return, however, is the inordinate amount of time it takes to go through the process of being recognized, seated, drink orders taken, and then the effort to flag down the wait staff. Would this have been the conclusion of our waiting, we might be inclined to be a tad bit more willing to continue our patronage since the staff seems quite friendly and helpful. Yet having said that, the over-riding impression is one of incompetence and the inability to provide service which is prompt without being rushed. It appears that the ownership is not very "hands on" and one would wish they could pick up the pace a bit. No one wants to be rushed, assuredly, but when ones patience is tempted to the ultimate and the physical discomfort of being seated for the duration of a long operatic performance is no longer bearable, we conclude that wed rather spend our money elsewhere even if that means a trip into the Twin Cities.

I was really disappointed. We arrived for breakfast Sunday morning and there appeared to be only one server working. It took him about a half an hour just to get our drink order. Ten minutes after that he finally came back. Not with our drinks but to get our food orders. At this point we learned that there is apparently only one small stove in the kitchen because it took an hour for our meal to arrive. On top of that it wasnt even what I ordered. The server hadnt written the order for six people down and this was the result. Of course by this point Id been sitting there for an hour and a half and I just wanted to leave so I didnt say anything. Once wed finished it was probably another fifteen to twenty minutes before he dropped off the check. You know a place is pretty bad when you arrive for breakfast and leave after twelve oclock.

I determined somthing with this place.... timing is everything. We frequent this place in hopes of the stars aligning correctly to provide the perrfect combination of staff, cooks, service and food. When they are on, they are on. When they are off, they are waaaay off. About 25% of the time everything is great. The other 75% however, there is a missing factor. Either the wait staff is slow (though always nice) or the kitchen is slow (though food is prepared well). Prices seem fair. Food, as stated, is great. Nice beer selection. Great atmosphere. The problem simply is that it should not take 2 hours for a family of 3 to eat. We still venture downtown to this restaurant, one of our favorites, but certainly plan our time accordingly.

Ive visited twice and have since not returned. My first visit was great; friendly and attentive waiter, and good fried chicken. I returned two weeks later with a large group of friends who were visiting town. Food took a very long time to reach our table and when it arrived it was not cooked to order. Steaks and burgers were charred and over cooked. Fries were under cooked. My fried chicken (3-piece) had pieces that were all cooked to different degrees. Our server asked, "How was dinner?" I told her it was poor and she laughed thinking it was a joke. I proceeded to tell her why it was poor and she apologized. I was also told that there was no management working that night.

I ordered the pineapple and ham omelet I asked for green olives added. The flavor was fine however the pineapple was the large ring variety...not sure how this was supposed to stylistically improve the omelet but led to a very inconsistent omelet. Upon asking the question of the staff basically got stonewalled. Not sure if I just picked the least popular menu item upon talking with the staff they asserted youve never worked in a restaurant. If you drive a grand prix this place is probably right up your alley. Me, I like a dialogue but most people who believe they are right...well yeah...come here if you like black and white thinking.
