So, Ive been here a few times with my girlfriend and sometimes with her and some of her family because she lived on the East side of Indy right close to the restaurant. As far as Chinese style buffets that I can find in Indiana this has so far been my favorite. They are open late, have decent prices, and an actually good selection of different kinds of food. But, I havent been in a while because my girlfriend moved to Plainfield with me over here on the West side of Indy. Well, last night we both were in the mood for exactly Teppanyaki Buffet and nothing else. I did a few google searches for other Chinese buffets that might be closer to us but they all have bad to mediocre reviews and I didnt want to be disappointed. So, after two hours of pestering the gf I finally got her to agree to drive all the way to the East side just for the Teppanyaki Grille. I had checked their website earlier and there wasnt any particularly special or useful information. There was a phone number and I tried calling several times; at least two or three times in a row every five minutes or so for a half hour while the gf was getting ready. No one ever answered. It would ring five or six times and then go to a voicemail with an automated message saying "the voice mailbox was full please try calling back". I just wanted to verify their hours and dinner prices before driving all the way out there, but like I said, no answer. So, we leave. Forty minutes later in traffic we get there and it was already turning night. Were on Washington St. about to turn into the strip mall and the gf goes, "UHH, they look closed! Theres no lights on." I pull up to the front of the place and, oh yeah, no lights, doors locked. Theres a barely readable sign made of a poster board written with a sharpie that says "CLOSED for maintenance will reopen soon". Pretty sure some of the words were misspelled too, but I dont remember. So, Im pissed. Just sitting there in the parking lot hungry and mad. Its like 8 oclock now and other places are going to be closing soon so I cant even think of where else to go, but more than that is that we had our hearts set on this one and only restaurant. We drive back to Plainfield and end up going to the Peking Buffet because they were open until 11pm. It wasnt that good. Heres the thing: the Teppanyaki Grille & Buffet was the best Chinese buffet that Ive found so far in Indy, but I hold a grudge. Their website couldve said they were closed. When I called they couldve had their answering machine say they were closed. All they had was a shitty sign in the front window after I wasted my time and gas to get there. So, screw them and their unprofessional management of their business. Theyve lost themselves a good customer. I wont be going back.

My kids use to enjoy this place. The waitresses even use to make me origami flowers before I left. Went about 2 months ago, and the food was horrible. The waitress was rude, never brought our bill, just went to the counter and paid. Took my oldest son last week, and again, had a rude waitress. Brought the wrong drinks to the table, so we pushed them aside. The waitress comes back, gets the extra drinks, spills one all over the table, almost on my plate, doesnt clean it up. The food again did not taste right to me, so I drank my soda until my son finished. Was never offered a refill when I finished my drink, although the waitress was standing directly behind my son playing in her phone. She also sat and talked to another waitress for at least 10 minutes giving customers rude looks and rolling their eyes. Once again, my bill was not brought to the table, even after I asked. Went up to the counter to pay where there was a line. No one was even working the register. Waited quite some time before anyone showed up. When I got up for my turn to pay, I explained I wasnt brought my check. The lady did not say one word to me. Not even to tell me the price of what I owed. I had to look at the screen. My change was shoved in my hand as she walked away like she was irritated. I dont want to ruin any more of their days by giving them business, and I will definitely never be back! They should have stayed closed for that type of treatment.

Not once but twice on two separate visits, with my wife, our glass of coke had a paper fortune in it when it was brought to us by the waiter. Obviously it had not be cleaned properly from the last customer that had used the glass. As I said, this happened on two separate visits, a month apart. The manager only wanted to deduct the price of the coke. The second time it happened, I had the waiter follow me to the front desk and in front of the manager and two other employees, I took the straw and fished the paper fortune out of the coke and laid it on the desk. I took pictures and reported it to the Board of Health and they said they would contact me with a report. That was about 5 or 6 months ago, and I have heard nothing. I refused to pay for either dinners and the manager had a fit until I started telling incoming customers of the problem and others that were eating their meal. I paid the first time because they made me, but refused to pay the second and last time. BEWARE!!!!!

My elderly parents have been coming to this place at least once a week for a very long time. They love the food. But it seems like each time they came back it looked dirtier and dirtier. Last week they both used the restrooms and were shocked. The restrooms were so filthy they actually lost their appetite to eat. They wondered how the employees could use the same, and not notice the filth, or even try and clean it up. Then it made them question how clean or dirty the kitchen might actually be. A complaint was made to the manager. I have been here on my visits home, and although the food was good, this place was never clean. Ive noticed that there are a lot of "nice" reviews on here, but Ive also seen a lot of people complaining about how dirty this place is. I know this place had been closed last year for what they called " maintenance ", but was actually shut down by the state. Maybe another visit from the state is needed?

I was there tonight with my mom and my kids for dinner, while we were eating our dessert we heard a couple janitors that were right next to our table they were talking loud badly about some customers that were getting there at the last minute, Suddenly a strong smell made us all start to cough really bad, it was pepper spray! !!! The stupid employees they sprayed it and started to laugh thinking it was funny, we tried to talk with our server, who told us that the smell was coming from the grill cause they were cleaning it, which of course wasnt truth, I had to pullmy kids out of there they are both asthmatic and this was horrifying! !!! No one there did anything, but I know for sure we will never go back in that plave again....
