Is anyone else entirely confused by the discrepancy between the items listed on the online menu and what you are actually able to order? I discovered this place about a year ago and was pleasantly surprised by the food, so I continued going there. I went to place a pick-up order tonight and discovered that the had updated their website. (Great!) As I went to place the order, I had some technical issues with the site, tried a couple more times, but never received a confirmation email. So I called and confirmed that they did not have my order. When I asked to place a pick-up order by phone the guy says, "What you want." I told him I would like to order the Vegetarian Thali, as advertised on their new site. He told me they didnt have that. I told him I see it advertised on the site, which has been recently updated. He told me that no, they do not have the same menu and the site is not the same as their location. I then confirmed the address, which was the same as their restaurant. He asked me if I wanted Lamb Curry, I said no, I dont eat meat. He offered Chicken Curry, to which I thanked him for his time and hung up. Ive never been awfully disappointed with the food or the price, but the service is terrible and the discrepancy between what they offer in-store versus online is extremely frustrating. (Where can I pick-up the food thats offered online, anyway?)

I went to the restaurant on Monday 21 March, 2014 at 2 PM for their daily lunch buffet. On entry the waiter asked me if I would like to eat a naan or a tandoori roti. I replied tandoori roti. I also pointed out to the waiter that two buffet items were over and needed refill - tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala. I waited for 15 minutes and was not served any tandoori roti. I also checked but neither the tandoori chicken or the chicken tikka masala were refilled. I also noticed that another item rasmalai was empty. When I pointed this to the manager, he said that they cannot do anything. At 2:25, after 25 minutes of wait I still did not have any tandoori roti to eat. As a result I told the manager that I am not able to eat any food since indian food needs to eaten with the roti. The manager started arguing rudely and said they cannot serve anything after 2 PM. He also used derogatory words saying that this is your bad mentality. When I said I would not like to pay for the buffet since I did not get to eat most of the items, he refused. Finally, I had to pay 8.71 $ for a really bad service.

I was introduced to Indian food about 14 years ago and spent a lot of time trying to find my favorite spot in Indy. Once I found Chef Suhels spot in the back of an Indian Butcher spot on the West side I was hooked. Since then I have lived in New York and Chicago and tried many other "Highly Recommended" Indian cuisine establishments. Some came close, but none could compare. To this day I have weekly cravings for Chef Suhels food. I take friends here often to introduce them to the food and they are always pleased. Suhel is always prepared for as many customers as you can throw at him, but a little notice goes a long way. He has been based out of a few locations over the years but now finally owns and operates India Diner with his wife. They do an excellent job of creating a laid back atmosphere and represent a diverse menu. The food is wonderful, the owners are great. I wish the best of luck with India Diner. I will be there frequently and you should be too.

This place has changed owners so many times, and used to be good food. Last time I went there the food on the buffet was so spicy it burned our mouths! People at other tables had to keep wiping their eyes and noses. When we complained to the server girl, she was nice but could not understand English. She kept bringing cold foods to our table that we did not order nor could consume. THEY CHARGED US EVEN FOR THE FOODS WE NEVER ORDERED! No apologies, no "let us fix this", no nothing. Obviously they do not have authentic Indian cuisine but have an amateur cook with no sense of taste. Go to "India Garden" downtown on Delaware street if you want delicious, AUTHENTIC, Indian cuisine and wonderful, courteous and helpful staff. We will NEVER go back to AAB and would not advise anyone else to do so......my last experience there is simply not how good business is done. Too bad the former owners sold the restaraunt.

We hopped off the highway looking for a late lunch. Even though we entered a few minutes after the end of the posted lunch buffet times, they graciously allowed us to stay and eat. The waiter was apologetic that the heat had been turned off and worried that the entrees might be cold. Everything that we tried was fabulous accompanied by a basket of warm garlic naan. They even made us a fresh pot of creamed mixed vegetables. We were not rushed out even though we were the only patrons in the restaurant. He asked our permission before removing anything from the buffet. Great food, great service.

Coming from England, where good authentic Indian restaurants are never far away, I was concerned that here in the States, where there arent so many, it wouldnt be so good. I was very wrong. The food was great, and reasonably priced. Portion size was perfect. Chicken was lovely and the tikka masala was as good as anything Id expect back home. Only fault was that the complmentary poppadom that comes at the start tasted store bought, not home made. But it was free so I cant complain. Highly recommended for anyone who likes Indian food or anyone who wants something different.

Confirmed over the phone that we could get entrees without diary. Picked them up, drove home, then discovered they didnt include any rice. Drove back and was told the rice contains milk. Asked why this wasnt mentioned over the phone and requested a partial refund. The young lady opened the cash register and began to take out some money when the owner (I assume that is who he was) pushed it shut on her. He was not the least bit apologetic or accommodating. This was customer service at its worst. Will definitely never go back.

This place is absolutely the WORST Indian food I have EVER eaten in my ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!!!! Dinner was clearly lunch buffet leftovers. The rice was dry, a clear indication. The butter chicken had a tomato taste, I dont believe it was actually butter chicken. The chicken was so very dry. Staff stood immediately over you at ALL times. There was no one else in the restaurant and now I know why!!! HORRIBLE. I couldnt even take the leftovers home to my dog. Avoid this place at all cost! Shalimar is worth the drive and gas $.

I checked out the restaurant since it was across the street from my hotel. Friendly service, excellent food, clean decor. When you arrive they serve you a tray of those flat Indian chips with three types of sauces to fool around with and have a huge selection of nann breads (various kinds of herb/cheese stuffed, etc) on the menu. If I were local Id go to this place regularly.
