First, if you are rating low because of cost versus what you get, go to McDonalds. This is an adequate portion of food, in-fact its more than you usually get per serving in Japan. The flavors are great, and the food is fantastic. The bowls are by no-means small. People complaining about "only a few bites" either used a giant spoon, or are used to having 14 portions per meal. I ate all of the ramen I got, but I couldnt finish the broth. It was just about the perfect amount. It cost just under $50 for three of us. We got one of each of the three options, as well as one drink each (one green tea, one Coca-Cola, and one ramune soda). I dont find this to be overly expensive for three people to get a solid, tasty, filling lunch. None of us completely finished our bowls. This isnt fast food. This isnt cheap junk. Stop comparing this to a packet of ramen you buy at the store. If thats what you want, then buy that and make it at home. This is the best ramen that Ive had in a long time. The last time I had any this good was the last time I was in Japan. You wont find any other place around that even comes close to comparing to the quality of Ramen Ray.

Found this place on Google Maps and stopped on a whim. First impression is that its an odd hipster joint in redneckville. They serve very tasty, very expensive ramen. Along side an impressive array of import/microbrew beer. Thats the odd part: foo-foo ramen with foo-foo beer, but I didnt see sake on the menu ... well, that and the ... interesting ... menagerie of staff. The dining area is small and sparse with lots of echo. Its one of those places you dont know whether to tip or not. You order at a counter but they serve your food. Meanwhile, theres a table to the side with beverages that could be self-serve or just a quick-stop for wait staff. We decided to serve ourselves. When we arrived we were the only customers and were out numbered 2 to 1 by staff. By the time we left, the place was packed.

Ive been excited to try Ramen Ray after it was announced to open. Ive enjoyed eating at ramen houses in Austin and Minneapolis and am glad Indy had its own house now, too. I ordered the Spicy Miso and the broth was quite delicious and comforting, and the gyoza appetizer was excellent. The noodles were fine but not outstanding. The sweet corn was a good complement to the spicy broth, and the bean sprouts provided a pleasing textural contrast. But the braised pork was too thin and too dried out and was disappointing. And the soft cooked egg was a little overcooked and, ironically, was also cold, which was also unfortunate. Overall it was good but I would hope for some improvements that would make Ramen Ray outstanding and highly competitive among other cities.

Arrived around 7, restaurant was comfortably full, with plenty of seating left. This was my first time, so I appreciated being asked that when we approached the counter. Recommendations were made by the cashier, and we selected accordingly. We paid about $20 each for a large ramen portion and a nice beer, which seemed completely reasonable. The food came out quickly. Both our choices were delicious, and I cant wait to try to miso. Really, everything about this experience was delightful. After reading the few negative reviews on here: if you want cheap, crap ramen, buy it dehydrated at the grocery store. If you want the real thing, hand over your money and shut your mouth. You get what you pay for. My full stomach is still thanking me, several hours later.

As of this review, this is the only authentic Ramen shop in Indianapolis. When comparing to Santouka Ramen in Chicago, the taste is pretty comparable. However, it is definitely is on the pricier side when you compare what you get at Santouka and here. Half the seating is community so theres plenty of opportunities for chit chat. If thats not your thing, there are regular tables. But, you may be waiting for a seat if packed. You can expect to wait roughly 10-15 minutes as your Ramen is cooked which is on par with most shops. There is free tea and water with option to purchase other bottled beverages, some from Japan. Come hungry as the bowls are big and theres no take out containers.

塩ラーメンをなめてる。値段が安ければ、三星でもいいが、13ドルも払ってチャーシューも乗っていない上、汁も今一。塩っぱいだけ。 they underestimate salt ramen. salt ramen is usually so good that it does not need other tastes. it is not about saltiness. very disappointed for the price they charge. it did not come with pork.

Waaaaayyyyy too over-priced for what you get. Quality and taste is fine and good but way overpriced. I got the shoyu ramen and it came with just 2 slices of charsu pork. And extra 2-3 slices would be extra $3! Even their add-ons are overpriced...cmon... $1 for extra green onions? I think extra egg was TWO DOLLARS!!! For Im assuming one egg...who knows...maybe just half of one egg. Eat here if you are rich and wealthy or just like to overpay for things. Hey, I get it...they are the only legit ramen shop in town. I dont blame them for making the economics work for them. But the price and value points dont work for me.

I have wanted to try Ramen Ray since they opened but they were always so busy. When I drove by today, the parking lot was half empty so I figured I would give them a try. I ordered the lunch special spicy miso ramen. All it came with was one slice of pork, half and egg, corn, and noodles and broth. I thought it would have come with more stuff. The gyoza were good but not my favorite thing. The bowl was small and I left hungry. They did have jugs of water but no ice. I would much rather go across the street to Long Thahn and get a bowl of ramen.

This was my first time at Ramen Ray restaurant. It was OK. It was more pricey than expected. There are only three choices for the noodle soup. It would be nice if you could order three small plates of all three so you could compare. I had "the most popular" (Miso). It was OK but I was not impressed with it. I would have liked to sample all three. I think I would prefer to leave off the pork. Anyway, it was a new, good experience. -- Also, it is sloppy and splashy when you eat it, so wear a shirt that you can take home and wash.

Ive never had authentic ramen before so I cant speak to how this compares. But I thought it was delicious! Its a little pricy so I wont be going every week, but on a cold day like today it hit the spot! I got the classic miso large order and it was plenty for me. If you are really hungry or have a large appetite you might need some sides too. My husband got the spicy miso and it was a little too salty. Staff were friendly and service was quick. Nice laid back atmosphere.

So after giving me the wrong order(im the only customer in the restaraunt) i go home to see its completely wrong. I call ask for a fresh order and possibly my some of my money back for having to drive all the way back. I get there my old order is sitting. They try to hand me it and not comp anything. Im having McDonalds now and I have all my money. Its a bummer I liked your food, but your service has consistently sucked. Maybe a new hostess is in order.
