The restaurants general location suggests it is a high-end seafood restaurant. If you take away the well-constructed building (completed summer 2007) and ample seating, you know at its heart that The Journey is a Chinese buffet restaurant. However, thats where the similarity stops. Buffets are, by conventional wisdom, all-you-can-eat "troughs", so the Uppity and Elite eaters should go elsewhere if they expect an intimate setting. Contrary to comments in an early review (I read it before visiting), the location was clean, seating was immediate, and the staff was dutiful. What will wow the typical Chinese buffet lover is that there is far more in quality and quantity at The Journey than the usual fried foods and assortments. King crab legs (hot or cold), all manner of shellfish (raw, cold or hot), prime rib (an excellent alternative), salmon and swordfish fillets and LOTS of sushi and sashimi in many flavors. Desserts are typical of Chinese buffets but are stored frozen or refrigerated and are of above-average quality. For a Chinese buffet, the price is higher for dinner (my meal): about $20 per person. But given the quality and availability of many great foods (with nothing running out) with good service, it works well for the occasional dining, especially if you are a sushi lover. A kids area has sufficient pizza and other basics for those who must take the children (not recommended for this place, or any buffet--parents dont watch their children as well and will detract from others visits). I havent lunch information, but if dinner is any indication, this is a worthwhile visit, although the price may prohibit those who enjoy the less-costly but less fortified places. Those who have enjoyed the Forbidden Zone in the Keystone/Clearwater shopping area may find this a step up.

This place is an amazing weekday lunch deal, especially if you burn a lot of calories at work. At the time of this writing the weekday lunch buffet is under $9 per person. Staff is attentive and quite friendly. Surroundings are quite upscale. Food is delicious, plentiful, and fresh. Sushi is about the best Ive ever had at a buffet and for the price its a great choice for a weekday lunch. Even the lunch buffet offers tasty clam chowder with plenty of clams. Goes great with the also available garlic bread. Wide selection of interesting fruits also. Three made to order stations even at lunch: stir fry, noodle soup, and crepes. The significantly higher price weekend dinner is fabulous. It is expensive, but the buffet nearly overflows with seafood. Sushi is upgraded also and crab cakes were on the buffet the one time Ive been blessed with the opportunity to weekend dinner here recently. I would certainly recommend The Journey if youre looking for a place to go. The booths on the east side of the center island are some of my favorite. Good view of the place and comfy seats.

Its $21 a person for dinner. Thats kind of expensive for a buffet. But you are getting crab legs, crawfish, and sushi. Which are normally expensive items. I have been here many times in the past 5 years. But my last couple experiences have definitely lowered my once high opinion of this place. They do have a great sushi selection. It is fresh & they keep it well stocked. The roast beef & meat area are always stocked & full as well. However, they continually over cook the crab legs. The ice cream freezer was broke so my kids werent happy about that. The salad, fruit, dessert bar needed to be refilled in almost everything. Some of the items were completely out. The chocolate fountain they have is very cool, but if you dont keep things stocked that you can dip in the fountain, what are you supposed to do then? This place has definitely started going downhill. Please stop it from going any further! Once you have fixed everything that is wrong, I will revise my review and give you more stars. Until then, stop lowering your standards and raise the bar back up.

I took my family of five there on a Saturday night at 6:00 PM and we waited 10 seconds to be seated. The variety of food offered was amazing and it was all good. My daughter and I had at least three plates of crab legs each and also tried some things you do not normally order at a restaurant: Frog legs, pickled squid, seaweed, mud bugs (craw fish), Oysters Rockefeller, etc. We ate plenty of boiled shrimp, broiled shrimp, shrimp scampi and shrimp sushi. The salmon and crab cakes were also very good. The prime rib was just okay but I did not come for that. There is also plenty of the typical Chinese food buffet fare. The deserts are fabulous. I had a freshly made crepe stuffed with strawberries and bananas and topped with chocolate from the fountain which was a great finish to a great meal. I highly recommend Journey. The prices are NOT that high - it was $18 for adults and $9 for kids for all you can eat. I challenge Mr. Nickname Unavailable below to find a better variety of food for a better price anywhere in town.

I love this place. The food is so delicious and its super clean. The staff is incredibly accommodating & friendly. The price was pretty high for dinner, I didnt realize that it was $19.99 for each adult when we got there. So when I got the bill my stomach did a flip flop. But in the end it was so worth it! & when you consider the variety of fresh food you are getting it is not bad at all. Lunch is much cheaper, but I would rather go during dinner time. The variety is spectacular! Everything you could ever want on the salad and desert bar. Every fruit you can imagine being served in a restaurant. Watermelon, mango, grapes, loquats, oranges, pineapple, honeydew melons. . . Oriental meat dishes are cooked to perfection. "Mongolian Grill" (not sure what they cal it there) was superb & they have every combo. imaginable. The "American" dishes are even perfect. There is even pizza on enclosed, heated pizza trays for the kiddos & picky eaters. & the crab legs & sushi- WOW! One of a kind place, definitely worth a visit.

I am completely shocked at the amount of positive reviews this place has! My mom and I went in there yesterday afternoon and it was extremely busy so we were optimistic on the buffet style sushi. I made several passes around the actual buffet before I settled on a few pieces of sushi (which looked like it had been setting out all day) and some general tsos chicken. The sushi was only edible doused in soy sauce. The chicken was 99.8% fat and lord knows what else. My mom had a few of the fish options which I couldnt even stomach smelling from across the table. She took one bite of the fish and swallowed. The next bite was so horrid that she almost threw up right there on the table. We didnt want to be those guests who got up and left without paying, so i left $20 on the table and we ran out the door as fast as we could. Im not sure how this place is still in business and how so many cars were in the parking lot! If you enjoy food poisoning then this place will not disappoint! If not, stay far away!

Same experienced as John, the one of reviewer. Today, 1/4/2017, I was with my family and trying to have all difference rolls of good selections they had. Basically "One" piece each and picked three(3) pieces of "Saba", which is mackerel, one of my favorite sushi, then one of latino sushi chef told me, "TOO MUCH x2" and "NOT TOO MUCH". "Buddy, I was trying to save my trips..." That was just RUDE to the customer who willing to enjoy their food and to pay their dishes. Right after only one dish done, i called my waitress, paid my check, and got out with very unsatisfied experience. To the Sushi chef who told me "NOT TOO MUCH", I respect all people, especially whoever works hard but you were very RUDE and make people "NOT TOO MUCH" happy. Thank you cus me and my family WILL NOT BE BACK BECAUSE OF YOUR RUDENESS. Happy new year.
