We had a terrible experience at this restaurant last night, August 27th, 2014. We arrived at 8pm, 1.5 hours before the posted closing time of 9:30. At around 8:45, the hibachi grille section (which we were wanting to try) was shut down. This really was dis-appointing. As for most of the pre-prepared entrees, most of them looked like they had been out for hours, and had been reduced to small pieces of dry, crispy crap. Many of the seafood dishes still looked fresh, and we were actually enjoying our meal until around 9 pm, when the servers started harassing us. We were approached by 3 different servers within a few minutes of each other, each asking us to please go to the buffet and take anything that we would want to eat. It was obvious that they wanted to shut the buffet down early, even though they still had ourselves and several other customers in the restaurant, and it was still 30 minutes prior to the posted closing time. The servers werent exactly polite about this either. They seemed to be trying to put the point across that they wanted us out of there. Even though this seemed rude to us, we still obliged and left our plates of food that we were currently eating, and went to the buffet and loaded up a plate of anything that we thought that we may want to eat after we were finished with our current plates. When we got back to the table, our current plates had been taken away, even though they were full of uneaten food. The way I see it, and what is generally considered good practice for a legitimate restaurant is that you accept new customers UP TO closing time, and you offer full service to them. We arrived 1.5 hours before closing time, yet were being rushed out well before the posted hours. After being approached 3 times, our server handed us our bill. At this point, I asked to speak with a manager, since we had been treated so badly. I was informed by our server that the manager had already left. I explained our scenario to her, and politely asked for a discount because of the poor service. She told me that the manager had left, and that nothing could be done, and that I just had to pay the full price for the meal. I told her how dis-appointed we were with the whole situation, to which she rudely replied something about "next time come earlier". At this point, we were furious. Meanwhile, they had turned off the music and shut half of the lights out, and nearly every employee was giving us dirty looks. So, all in all, this was a terrible experience, and well never go back. When we arrived, I thought it was odd that there were only a few vehicles in the parking lot, and now I understand why.

If youre in the mood for traditional American Chinese cuisine, served up with a heaping side of intestinal distress, then Formosa Seafood Buffet is the place for you! Immediately upon entering, prepare your senses to be assaulted by the enticing sights and smells of food (of questionable provenance) left basking under the heat lamps since what archaeologists have determined to be the late Pleistocene epoch. A typical meal at Formosa will usually begin with soggy egg rolls, wilted salad, and bland soup, though if youre feeling adventurous you can try the congee or boiled chicken feet. From there, diners are invited to tuck into sesame chicken, pork fried rice, mystery meat sushi, oily tofu in oil sauce (the token vegetarian entree), or a dozen other options, often greasy, invariably bland. Not enticed by the exotic flavors of the not quite Orient? Fear not: you can stuff your gullet with mac & cheese, fried chicken, Jell-O, and other classics that taste just like how Mom used to make them (that is, assuming Moms entire training consisted of a week spent at the Ronald McDonald Institute for the Culinary Arts). At this point in a buffet meal Id usually recommend a quick trip to the restroom to make some more space, but the facilities at Formosa should be avoided at all costs: wet, dirty, and perpetually soap-free, they invariably invite unappetizing speculation as to the sanitary conditions of the kitchen. Before making a break for the exit, be sure to visit the dessert bar, where you can choose from among a dozen frozen and reheated Chinese buns (the Jell-O might be starting to look tasty at this point). Dont forget to pickup an air sickness bag on your way out - if the food doesnt cause your stomach to turn, one look at the check will! Final verdict: the interior is actually beautifully decorated, and a few of the dishes are solid (although theres some inconsistency as to which dishes are good on any given day). However, the rest of the food ranges from disappointing to contaminated; in my opinion the decent food doesnt make up for the game of Russian roulette youre playing with your stomach.

This place needs to be shut down. A COCKROACH ran out from my moms plate of food. It scurried off her plate and onto the floor. My moms scream didnt seem to alert management - they couldnt care less. When I alerted my server, he said management could give us a 15% discount. I was irate as they didnt come to apologize or say anything. I walked over to speak to the manager who asked me what exactly I wanted from her. Your restaurant has cockroaches crawling in your food! And youre going to give me an attitude and ask what I want?? I told her the rest of our party will pay, but there is no way my mom should have to pay for a meal that was infested with pests. The manager asked me "Where is this roach?? I dont see it." Yup. No apology at all. This is not how you run a business. This is how you run a business into the ground. Eventually after my insistence, my mom didnt have to pay. To note, the server was great. However, the food was atrocious and the bathrooms smelled like urine. tldr; Cockroach ran out of my moms food. Management was extremely rude and didnt care. Terrible food terrible place. Stay away.

The absolute worst food Ive ever consumed . Me and my girlfriend went there for lunch today because previously Ive gone there and the food was pretty good but its been a year and a half . So today , our server Eric was really good and polite . The service wasnt the bad part , it was the food . My first plate contained teriyaki , general tso , and sushi ( it would help if they labeled the sushi just in case someone was allergic to any ingredients ). Anyway , after the first bite I immediately stopped eating because it was utterly disgusting . I threw away my plate and instead got cookies and ice cream because you know how can they mess up ice cream ? My 2nd bite of the ice cream had a garlic clove in it . After that , we immediately tipped the server , paid for our lunch , and left . In conclusion , all of the food was cold and tasted like it was reheated , none of the food was labeled , and the only employee that acknowledged us was our waiter . So now Im currently in the parking lot contemplating going vegan after this buffet trip . P.S. The sugar rolls were cold (of course) and hard .
