Into the fury... I have never been to a Golden Corral and I was interested to compare it to Old Country Buffet. They advertise allot on Dish Net so I was very curious to try it. They opened 4 months ago so I believe the new factor is a big draw, it was a 5:15 on a saturday night and the parking lot was full, and one of the employees stated that they had 2 parties for 50 and 30 people just left. I joke to my friends that I have been sick in all of the buffets in my hometown of Lansing. When you come in, the first choice you need is to make is your beverage selection. For some reason you can have a choice of a 32oz cup but the servers give free refills, so I didnt understand that. Then you pay for the meal and wait to be seated, this looked to be a long process with many people in line but it is not a long wait at all (by the way coffee is served at your table). The waiter came eventually and gave us the low down on how it works. All of the plates and bowls were wet from the dishwasher and sort of clean. So about the food, I rate it a 7 out of 10 for taste and for a quantity a 9. None of the food I tasted was bad but some missed the mark. They turnaround allot of tables and its a miracle how much food they serve. Lines moved very fast. The grilled steak is tender and pretty tasty for all you can eat, kinda scary what they use to tenderize the meat but it was pretty good. The spare ribs were tender but pretty fatty and plentiful. The grilled seafood was not bad but barely cooked, kinda scary. The greens on the salad bar were really wet but the seafood salad and ceasar were good. Desserts were good and plentiful. Coffee was not so good. Our waiter was very busy but I think the young man was really good for a buffet restaurant. Tipping is encouraged. In conclusion I dont think I would eat here again but I think it is a great value and I can see where for families this would be and ideal place to bring kids, they have such a large variety of food, anyone could find something to eat and you can get in and out pretty quickly. My wife was overwhelmed by the shear mass of people, its a place where you need to get in there and throw some elbows! Two people w/beverage was $26 plus tip. By the way the next day I did get sick from something I ate.

My son flew in today from VA. He is in the Army and has not seen the family since July. My son and I decided to surprise his mother, grandmother and two smaller brothers by having him arrive at lunch time on Thanksgiving. When he arrived at the restaurant I asked the hostess if he could come in and surprise them, but since he had already eaten he would not be eating and she said it was OK. I went to let him in and an employee by the name of Jim, who was acting like crowd control, told me I couldnt do it. I explained to him what was happening and told him my son was outside waiting. Jim told me "Your going to cause to big of a scene if you do that, NO, have them come out here" and closed the door on me. My son was outside at the side exit door, he tried to come in and the same guy told him he couldn^t come in that way. My son also explained to him what was happening as well and Jim told him "no" and pulled the door out of his hand, closed it and locked it so it would only open from the inside. I am VERY disappointed, angry and do not think this is the way a company, such as yours, should treat customers, especially military members when you advertise you appreciate them. This was totally unacceptable and I would like an apology from Jim. It derailed our plans for thanksgiving and caused a bit of confusion for my son since he had been traveling since 5:00 AM and rode in a cab for over 15 miles to get there. He did decide to just stand outside and wait on the family for about 30 mins to finish up without them knowing about it, but he should not have had to do that.

I went twice, once on Easter and once on a regular Saturday. On Easter the line was out the door, and I thought that it was because it was a holiday/Sunday. To my surprise when I returned on a Saturday the line was out of the door and down the sidewalk! I think the reason for the long lines (which are ridiculous) is because of the beverages being at/in the line. Of course it will take longer to get through the line if people are getting drinks. MOVE THE DRINKS INSIDE THE PLACE SO WE CAN GET OUT OF THE COLD WEATHER! If you plan on meeting another party there, you cannot sit together unless you walk in together. This I found out after driving 45 minutes to meet family that also lives 45 minutes away from the other direction. So, we get there and tell the server that we have a party there waiting for us and after an extended argument, they still refused to let us sit together. What kind of buffet has so many rules? Theres a line for EVERYTHING!!!!! Line for meat, line for salad, line for desert, line for bread...I much prefer the style Old Country Buffet has, get in where you fit in! Plus I DO NOT like the way the drinks are refilled, the wait staff walks around with pitchers of different sodas and refills as they walk by - YUK! I like the food, I really do but they have too many rules for my taste, especially when 2 people go for dinner and the total is over $30.00!!!
