It is not the place for me... or my family. We just finished dinner here and I can honestly not recommend it. I do live in town and have friends that have raved about this place; however, it might be that they like it because they are "regulars" and get better service and a clearer understanding of the menu. We ordered some of the most expensive mains on the menu and a cheese plate to start. The cheese plate took almost half an hour to come out. We were hungry and it was tasty (hunger is the best sauce!). I gave the second star for the cheese plate, as it was the only redeeming factor. We had barely finished our cheese when the mains came out. One was under-cooked, one was crazy spicy (I love spicy food and grow my own habaneros--so, they over did it), and one was over-powered by chard (to be fair, its simply not my favorite green and it was not mentioned on the menu...). When we asked for a box and the check (one of us thought, "Maybe it will be better tomorrow...") and then it took another 10 minutes for the server to come back and ask, "Do you really just want the box and the check?". I had to emphatically say, "Yes, that is all that we really want!" Everyone has a different idea of what their dining experience should be and I will simply say that this restaurant is not it for us. Perhaps if they had mentioned that the pace is slow and that we would not get much attention (or food in a reasonable time), it would be easier to take. Though, we were seated and ordered at the same time as what appeared to be regulars who got appetizers and then food before we even got cheese, so maybe it was just how they treated us. This was my third time trying this restaurant in as many years and each time Ive been extremely disappointed, but someone always wants to give it another try, so weve gone back. Well, three strikes and you are out is not just for baseball. Thankfully, there are many other great places to eat dinner in Bloomington. I suggest to anyone who is willing to make it through this diatribe, that you go to one of those.

Feast Bakery/Cafe easily has THE worst service in town. I have given them several chances and each time the service is worse than the time before. The staff basically acts like they dont even want your business and just want you to leave. They have servers going in and out of the kitchen with open-toed shoes (which is a violation of health code....and gross) and there are always a couple girls working there who do not tie their hair back (also a health code violation, also disgusting). When I asked my server if they had their fresh-squeezed orange juice available she said "Let me check" and then disappeared for fifteen minutes. When she returned, I asked about the juice and she responds, "Oh, yeah... uh we dont have that today. Are you ready to order?" So I had to settle for a watered-down, weak iced coffee drink. Not two minutes later, the barista at the counter hands a lady a glass and says "Heres your fresh orange juice!" ....Seriously? Luckily the food there is good (which is the ONLY reason I can imagine that anyone goes there....) But what Feast doesnt seem to realize is that they are in the SERVICE INDUSTRY. Absolutely unacceptable. I wish there was an option to review the food and service separately, because while the food is good, the horrible service ruins the entire dining experience.

I am giving this restaurant one star only because the food was very very good, although it was grossly overpriced. Other than the food, it was a bad experience. The waitress we had was very rude and got upset with me for sitting at the end of a booth (in a chair the hostess had prepared for me). She was upset about five people sitting at a booth that seats four. She picked up my purse, which was hanging on the back of my chair, and first tried to make me hold it in my lap and then told my friend to scoot over so she could put it in the booth seat next to him, saying that she thought it was in her way. This was a total invasion of privacy! It is not okay to just pick up someone elses stuff! The waitress continued to speak rudely to me for the rest of the dinner, and was generally unpleasant to be around. She never brought refills, the wait time for the food was very long, and she only asked for my ID out of a table of five people when my friend ordered a glass of wine. (I didnt even order any alcohol myself.) If youre going to eat here, do carry out. This dine-in experience is something I never want to repeat.

Ive been there for both breakfast and lunch. The waitstaff is pretty helpful, but they tend to be a little on the brusque side. The menu is always delicious, especially for lunch. I would say that their breakfast menu isnt really what youd expect though, so if youre looking for traditional breakfast you might want to go elsewhere. They have some normal breakfast items, but there are certainly some odd ones. Their biscuit and gravy was more of a thinner bechamel sauce with very small pieces of gravy, with a large, scone-like biscuit. It was definitely not a typical dish. Also, their croque madame includes a garlic aioli that is was way too strong. My sister ate it and the poor girl tasted garlic for the rest of the day. Also, youll never know what youre going to get on the menu, so its not a great place to go with picky eaters.

The food is fantastic, which is the only reason I imagine people go back. It is very expensive, but more importantly, the service is spotty at best. We went for breakfast - we really just wanted coffee and something from the bakery, and then to sit down. We were very rudely explained that we had to either be seated and served food from the menu, or take the bakery food to go (as if this was obvious). Sorry, but most cafe/bakeries will let you buy food and then sit down to eat it. So we decided to order to go and stood by as our food was heated. While we were getting somewhat nasty looks from the staff behind the counter, we overheard the hostess say "They wont ****ing move!" Needless to say, we will not be returning. Paying a lot for (even great) food is not worth the treatment you receive here.

Loving and supporting our locals businesses, Leah and I head to Feast for our weekly dish and coffee at 3:00. Today we were turned away for moving tables (from our breezy frigid U comfortable table, to a warmer sun drenched table). Policy states that they are not allowed to seat 2 people at a table that seats 4 and we were told to leave the booth. Common sense states feeding and appreciating the 2 present paying customers (especially at 3:00pm), instead of hoping a group of 4 hypothetical people walk in the door would be more beneficial to a business. Sadly I will not be patronizing Feast any longer. I will only be spending my money at establishments who appreciate my business/money. Hello Michaels Uptown Cafe ❤ Thank you for welcoming us to a nice warm booth. #2stillequal$50spent
