Some of THE absolute WORST service I have encountered anywhere. Popcorn and napkins and French fries on the floor are understandable on a busy summer Sunday evening. But to have to ASK two different times (and people) for a simple glass of water is unforgivable. The second time I had to ask, I went to the bar, and as I walked up there, the bartendess went to the other side to gab with some elderly goat. The girl who said shed bring water asked if I needed anything else. I told her popcorn sounded good (especially since wed been there 20 minutes and by then had the menus memorized) and she said "Oh, its just cooking now." And we never received popcorn. Once we finally got to place our order, it was delivered quite promptly (yay!) but we had to ask the waitress for napkins and silverware!!! All delicious, of course. Never was I offered a refill on my coke. The black cow Mom ordered came with a SOUP SPOON in it instead of an iced tea spoon!!! I was getting up and walking out the door when the waitress came and gave us our check. I handed her cash, thanked her, and high-tailed out of there. A couple years ago when we "dined" there, we ordered saganaki. It came to our table burned!! Yes, I have reported this to other people who used to like the place.

The remodel a couple years back was much appreciated, adding big screens everywhere and the down-home mid-west food remains a crowd pleaser. With TVs all around, a deeper than average menu heavy on American, Italian, and Mexican favorites, food & drink specials every night of the week, and a big bar, you may stand in line briefly. Especially on Friday, but the line moves fast. If you are an NIU grad (and 60% of them do live in the Chicago suburbs) you will appreciate the beer nuggets w/o the drive to De Kalb. For newbies, thats pizza dough cut to bite size, fried until puffy then rolled in olive oil, garlic & onion salts, then dipped in marinara. Mmmmmm. The burgers @ $1 are a steal but order them 1 notch more done than normal. Try the chips - they are home made. Have patience with your waitress - shes working hard to keep up with all those tables! Try the saganaki ($2 special), the Panzerotti are awesome, pizza good (but not Unos), onion rings great, the Friday fish fry makes you think youre in Wisconsin. A great blend of Northern mid-west favorites in a friendly setting surrounding by every satellite sporting event known to man.

Staff is a joke and the food isnt anything special either. I entered the restaurant and was seated near the bar. I waited and waited for a server to come offer me a drink or take my order. I would have been satisfied with a glass of water. After a 20 minute wait with no staff interaction what so ever I stood up to leave, and was finally accosted by a member of the staff. She asked where I was going and ordered me to sit down. I told her I had been waiting 20 minutes for someone to take my order and was about to leave and she replied by saying, "Woah, I dont like the attitude, Ill leave." Needless to say, myself and my group elected to leave at this point. I have eaten here before and have never been especially impressed with the food. The staff is abhorrent and I will not be visiting again after this last visit.

This classic sports bar features pub fare you would expect, done well: burgers, sandwiches, wings, and much more. Drink specials, tvs everywhere, and attentive waitstaff make this a fun spot for a laid-back afternoon or evening out on the town. Plus they offer free popcorn if you are just having a drink or are lingering after your meal. Rookies is a St Charles institution and rightfully so. Plus they have a lively trivia game every Tuesday night at 8!

We went here for drinks after a shift at Fox Valley Ice Arena, great place We had the Beer Nuggets, basically fried dough with seasonings. Very Good to have with a bunch of people. And all their burgers come on Pretzel Buns, best Mushroom burger I have had in a long time Decor is still the same cheasy sports bar decor you see in every sports bar in the area but it still does "fit"

Not sure what complainers were expecting, but this is a bar. They have a good menu--for a bar. They have good hot wings and decent prices on drinks AND food. They have 20+ flat screen TVs. Sure, waitress could have come more often, I suppose, but ITS A BAR. Got ribs, chicken, hot wings, and NONE of it disappointed, especially the price with drinks.

This place was the worse restaurant Ive been to. The service was very horrible. I sat there for 20 minutes waiting for service and no one showed up. I ended up leaving and no one cared at all. Should have looked at the reviews from others to find out this place already sucked. Thanks a lot for no service.

Rookies isnt a just a restaurant, rookies is a place where you can connect with your family and friends all while enjoying some good beer, sports and food. The food is top notch you cant beat the price and it is a very fun energetic atmosphere. And I will without a doubt be returning.

We have come to this Rookies many times over the course of the years it has been in business. The staff is always pleasant, service just right and food terrific. I would recommend it to anyone who would like a relaxing and tasty meal out.

Small spprts bar with a neat atmosphere, decent food, yet service like molasses. Be ready to sit for a long time waiting for your food and drink orders to appear. Still recommend if you have the time. Pizza is pretty good.

I did not realize the name Rookie was actually a description of the management. The old Hoboken Hustle was performed flawlesly on my wallet after falling for their bait and switch. Lots of tvs though.
