From the moment we stepped into "The Original Pancake House" in Orland we knew we were in for something special. My wife and I work hard and enjoy when we get a chance to eat out. We visited the restaurant on a Sunday so we knew it was going to be busy. I was impressed right away with the smiling faces and friendly laughter and it seemed like everyone was enjoying their meals. The staff moved around in choreographic perfection serving each patron quickly and courteously. We were seated almost immediately and ordered. I had a Southern Skillet and my wife had a mushroom omelette with some of the freshest orange juice Ive ever tasted outside of Florida. The meal was fantastic and my skillet in particular was the best rendition of this favorite Ive ever had, I savored every bite and my wife and I kept reaching across the table to try each others meal. We thought we were done but when we ordered we saw someone with what looked like a huge pancake so we asked what it was and was told it was their specialty, the apple pancake so we ordered it to go. By the time our meal was finished they brought it out. The aroma of the apples and cinnamon was enough to get our mouths watering again so even though we were to the point of bursting, we dived right in and tried it. I had to stop myself from eating it all and my wife quickly boxed it back up. I got our bill and was amazed that that kind of meal cost so little. I have been to many breakfast restaurants before in some amazing locals but by far this was the best Ive ever had. We have recommended this place over and over again and hope to return soon. If you are in Orland Park, its next to the Panera Bread off of 153rd and LaGrange. A+

I had a horrible expeirience. I first visited with my family, I thought the food was great, but they were a bit pricey. I ordered a small bowl of strawberries and bananas for my son and they charged me $5.99. My second visit, I ordered a steak medium well, but it was too pink in the middle. I asked the waitress if they could cook a little more. She returned with it shriveled, dry and burned on the edges. I told her I didnt want it, so the manager offered to take $3 off my bill for my coffee. I didnt feel like I should have to pay for something I couldnt eat, so asked if they could just make another one. The manager Julie flat out said she wasnt going to make me another steak because I ate a good portion of it. I explained to her that when they re cooked it, the steak shrunk because they cooked it so long. I only ate the very edge. It shouldnt matter. If the food was unsatisfactory, isnt it the managers job to provide customer service? Julie could care less. She argued with me and flat out refused to give me another steak. As a consumer, I didnt feel appreciated, nor welcomed.

Im never going back to this pancake house. There was an IHOP right nearby and the quality of the food would have been just the same for a cheaper price there. My boyfriend and I got a $35 bill for a basic two-person breakfast. Its NOT WORTH THE PRICE. I asked for the apple-cinnamon compote but APPLE SYRUP is not COMPOTE. That bothered me so much because not only was that a misleading extra $2, it didnt even taste good. Also, who charges $7+ on two glasses of ORANGE JUICE? Any decent house would give free refills. The waitress gave us our bill too soon, and she just stood over us trying to take it out. Awkward. I wrote a very long review to express how unworthy this diner is if youre just looking to get an affordable bite to eat (like we did) and wondered if this place was a good option. IT IS NOT A GOOD VALUE.

I can order to go items and take home for menu price. I order a to go item after dining to bring family home breakfast and there was an additional charge. They forgot to make my omelette. 15 minutes later they brought it after everyone elses meal. I went to cut it. The omelette collapsed like a souflete and the eggs began to run out over the plate onto the table like a volcano. I sent it back for another omelette. The ham tasted fake or canned it was slimy. It was horrible. We brought the extra charge for our to go crepes to the manager and they said "its out policy". We had to like it or leave it. I sent an email to corporate with no response. They do not care. I advise everyone to go to another pancake house instead. They deserve media attention to warn off future, unhappy customers.

I took my two daughters out to breakfast and was thoroughly disappointed. My 10 year old ordered pancakes. The actual pancake was good but the syrup tasted asif they put extra sugar in it. So much that my 10 yr old would not/could not eat it. The same thing for my 12 year old who ordered french toast. Her meal was ruined after putting the syrup over her meal. Hard to believe children complaining that their meal is too sweet! I ordered a veggie skillet with Texas toast. When the small skillet came it was potatoes and eggs...no veggies. My toast was skinny yellow bread, toasted. ? Do they not know what Texas toast is? They offerred it. When I questioned the server she replied that is our Texas toast". I must say that our service was fine...just the food was horrible.

This restaurant is so bad its unbelievable. This is my first review of any good establishment ever. But after eating here last week, I feel inclined to review. First, our waitress was rude, unfriendly, and just all around unpleasant to be around. She barked back answers to questions and was very, very bad at her job. Second, the food was also beyond subpar. The potatoes were downright disgusting. The eggs were awful. THE PANCAKE SYRUP WAS PRETTY MUCH WATER!! I will never, ever, go back here. If youre looking for a good breakfast worth the $$ (which, if you cant tell, this place isnt) then make the trip to Lumes. They know how to make a great breakfast.

Well, weve been to other OPH locations, and the food is always pretty good. The pancakes and waffles were very tasty here. The omelet was under-cooked and runny, but still pretty decent. The problem was with the service. In particular the wait staff. The waitresses argued about who "had" our table and it was more than 10 minutes before we were even greeted. The waitress (with the short blonde hair) who didnt want us continued to ignore us, I can only assume because my fiance is asian. She greeted every other table and offered everyone else coffee (both her tables and the others). Our eventual waitress was very pleasant and did a nice job.

One of few my most favorite places in the World! omelets and Dutch treats are fantastic. my wife and me were going Sundays and you have to wait all the time because people know its worth! some other reviews people telling its pricey juices but it is freshly made! you just show how ridiculous you know about the food if you compare juice and concentrate and still ask for refill. you have no taste people just want to fill out your stomach!
