If youre looking for an enjoyable whiskey bar, avoid Girl in the Park. Up charges for neat pours are bush league in general, but particularly for an establishment that puts so much emphasis on its whiskey. The fact that they do not tell you about the charge, and that it seems to be a ridiculous 25% of the cost of the drink you order, is absurd. If you self-identify as a whiskey bar, and whiskey is one of the core things you do, you dont get to up charge for the simple courtesy of doing it right. And Ill just throw in, maybe get the right glassware for it, and try not to give out the semi-warm, fresh-from-the-dishwasher glasses. They also advertise their cocktails, but I wouldnt look to those for a respite either. For $10-12 they arent exactly overpriced as far as cocktails go, but the attractive and unique menu selection belies the watered down and largely tasteless drinks that will actually show up at your table. I will say the beer selection is good and well priced, though, so youre not totally adrift at sea without a life preserver. The food is pretty hit-or-miss too. We got the beer bacon cheese dip and the buffalo chicken dip for appetizers, and both were excellent; the beer dip in particular, with nice solid pieces of bacon in it giving it a nice smokey flavor. For dinner I ordered The Girls Signature Truffle Burger, which was a mixed bag; the toppings were well constructed and flavorful, but the burger I had ordered to be medium came back well done, and the vaunted truffle tots were indistinguishable from the regular tots others at the table received. The decor is a little all over the place too. On one hand you have a nice mix of wood-heavy elements like the bar and parts of the walls, which try to lean in to the hipper design elements of the farm-to-table and craft cocktail trend, and on the other hand you have an omnipresent shade of green all over the place that makes the place look like a dressed up Quaker Steak & Lube. We also found the inside to be far too noisy and difficult to hear the people you were sitting with. The outdoor patio is beautiful and very dog friendly, though, so aim for that in the summer months. To summarize, when you walk up to the restaurant youll see three things plastered all around the building: Beer. Burgers, & Bourbon. Ill give them the beer part.

We went to Girl in the Park tonight for a birthday dinner and it was outstanding! Everything that we ordered came out very well presented and tasted even better! I got the man in the park burger and I honestly couldnt tell you what was better, the actual burger or the sloppy Joe meat that came on top! A friend had the Salmon and that was also to die for! With being such a new establishment I personally expected some flaws but the service was impeccable and the food is the best that Ive had in a long time! They had amazing martinis and drink specials as well!!

First time there and they knocked it out of the park! I had the Man in the Park burger which features 2 custom, handcrafted sirloin patties and a sloppy joe topping....brilliant! Owners came out to welcome and thank me for coming. Service was provided impeccably by Carly. She was extremely professional and helpful with choosing from the wonderfully varied menu. I came in from the Beverly area to attend to some business I had in Orland. Well worth the stop! Heck, Ill come back out just to try another one of their deliciously creative burgers. Thank you all!

One of our favorite places to go in Orland now. The food quality is so much better than anything elses we have tried. We eat out a lot and want good local foods with grass fed meats. Excellent preparations. The service is great. We love he waitress Jamie, and our favorite bartender there since Rockwelz, Sarah Mc. All thumbs up.

I would like to give more of a 3 and a half... As much as I wanted to love this place, because I enjoy the concept... It did not live up to my expectations. The food was mediocre, and it took way longer than told to get seated. It was also very loud inside. Drinks were delicious, but expensive.

New hot spot in the burbs. They offer craft beer, bourbon and quality food. My favorite thing they offer is the strawberry and basil martini. Delish. The atmosphere is upbeat and they have live music when I was there on a weekend. I liked the environment here and look forward to my next visit.

Visited this establishment with my co worker at lunch time. Our hostess/waitress Monica was very accommodating. She did a great job explaining all the menu items and specials. I will definitely be revisiting this establishment not only becuase of the great service but also the amazing food.

Great experience every time. The selection of Craft Beers keeps increasing and the quality of Bourbon is very choice. The food will make you come back for family dinner, date night or a "dont want to cook" night. I have taken my family there over 15 times so far and have no plans to stop.

Really fun local place -- the "craftS" beer is mostly comprised of big-beer brands under the guise of craft, but theres plenty of pure craft, too. Other than that -- very little to even note other than its a fun neighborhood joint.

Food was great, but expensive! More of a bar than a restaurant with heavy emphasis on alcohol. Unfortunately the mixed drinks we got tasted like watered booze, no real flavor or burn to speak of at all.

Chef Jayme has a clever menu making this the latest Orland Park go-to hot spot. Tip: Most cocktails have a $2 optional component that almost always transforms your drink into something really special.

Been here a couple times and the food is fantastic. All the food is hand made so I understand that takes time, but service is still very slow. Took a half hour for wings.
