I went to Mamma Marias this evening for dinner and was disappointed with the service and food. We were seated promptly and served chips and salsa then our waiter proceeded to serve the table next to us, which sat down 15 minutes after us. They were greeted with a hearty Hola!, asked what their drink order was, and he even took their appetizer order. After he served them drinks, he came to our table and asked what we wanted for dinner. I told him 3 tacos with rice and beans and my husband ordered the same. Before he left, I stopped him to see if I could order a drink, which he took then left. He then came back with refills for the table next to me, and later brought their appetizers. I guess he realized that my husband and I needed refills as well, so he asked if we wanted a refill, which surprised me because he could read the minds of the people sitting next to me, but couldnt read ours. When our food came, we were one taco short, which was fine because they were filling but not great, plus we were only charged for two. All in all, the waiter did not provide good service because he thought we were incapable of tipping him well. And the thing about self-fulfilling prophecies is that they usually come true because the prophet creates the environment for the prophecy to come true. I dont know the waiters name because he was not wearing a name tag, but I sat at the fourth table from the main entrance this evening.

We were greeted by a lively hostess but despite no one sitting at the bar she placed us at a table. Sitting as close as we were to other people we would be able to over hear everyones conversations. The place was loud. So I promptly moved to the bar. The moment we sat down chips and salsa was placed in front of us. Well if you call it salsa. It was really more like salted, charred, tomatoes. I asked the bartender if they had salsa Verde or hot sauce and she said no. She took out the jarred hot sauce and suggested one. For drinks I explained that I liked tequila but knew little about it. Instead of educating me or suggesting tequilas she suggested a cocktail, which is the one I actually drink all the time, so a good suggestion. It was awful, way too sweet. I left it at the bar. The tortilla soup tasted like it came from a box and then had salt dumped on top. I asked for salsa verde with my meal (b/c they do have it) It never came. I will admit the meal was massive, and the steak was cooked just right, but the bartender never brought silverware or plates for my date and I to share. Other people must like the place because the place was full. If you like spice, fresh food, cocktails, or educated bartenders go somewhere else. We did, just down the road in Homer Glen is another tequila bar, where we took a flight. Maybe thats just how things go on Mondays.

This was our second experience at Mama Marias - It was awful. First the snotty hostess who quoted us a 25 minute wait time and then it took an hour and ten minutes. When I asked her what was happening at the hour mark she said" We got busy"! and then turned away. Really, you got busy? OK! Then we waited 20 minutes at our table for a server to greet us. Then our drinks took about 15 minutes to be retrieved from the bar. When they brought our food to the table we had no utensils - the bus boy told us there was no silverware clean so we would have to wait and ask our server. By the time we had silverware the food was cold and horrible! The Managers response was "I am sorry"! No discount, no free dessert! Just sorry!! Nice We will not be back!!! and I suggest you stay away!

I was recently introduced to Mama Marias by a friend. We met there for lunch, and the food was excellent, the service was great and the ambiance was also very good. A big step above other local traditional Mexican sit-down restaurants that are easy to find on 159th street in the Orland/Tinley/Orland Hills area. The pricing is on-par with those places, but considering the quality of the food, definitely a better value. Ive only been there twice, but I can see myself as a new regular easily. A final thought, in all honesty, Mama Marias is noticeably better kept in terms of cleanliness. Ive yet to try Uncle Julios so I obviously cant comment to compare, but Ive heard good things. IMHO, definitely enjoy Mama Marias above other longer established places in O.P.

This is one of my all-time favorite taco places to go! The Korean Taco and the queso Taco are my favorite things to order. I have to say I enjoy going during the day better than night time. It is a little slower paced and the staff is much more accommodating especially when you like to order the things they offer that arent on the menu all the time. My absolute favorite drink is a jalapeno strawberry margarita with a spicy rim!

Awesome experience. I had baja, shrimp, and sea bass tacos and each of them were fantastic. The sea bass was a special and was particularly great. I stuck with the house margarita and was extremely satisfied to find a place that knows how to make them properly. The service was great, quick, and courteous. The place is on the smaller side, but it really helps create a great ambiance. Cant recommend this place enough!

The place looks cool and I like the big bar setup (except the weird donkey paintings on the walls). Good strong sangrias and a good beer selection. However the food wasnt that great-- the meat was overcooked on the tacos we got, really disappointing. The layout makes it really awkward to get to the bathroom, too. I dont get how people gave such high ratings for such crappy food, but maybe we went on a bad day.

This Mexican food is outstanding. I had the Baja fish tacos and they were to die for - Ive been craving them daily. They also have a huge selection of margaritas. I couldnt stop at one, so I had the blueberry basil and the pomegranate. The wait staff was very friendly and the ambiance fantastic. I will definitely be back over and over again.

The atmosphere of this place is great. Its lively and energetic! The drinks were very good, a bit strong for my taste but overall good. The food was decent. Honestly, I was kind of disappointed by it because all the reviews on the food were great. It was ok, I would go back but not for the food only for drinks.

Ive never been to a "Mexican" Restaurant that uses Cotija cheese. Not only did it smell terrible, it wasnt listed on the menu. It was listed as cheese, not what kind. In a "Mexican" restaurant, Mexican music would have been a little better than disco. Terrible food and service.

Guacamole, tacos, service, and atmosphere are all on point. Good beer selection, and specialty drinks. The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star is that my torta was a minute or two over charred, but even then, in between bites of burnt crust, was pretty good.
