Very rarely do I feel the need to let a business know how poor my experience was. Sadly, this evening indeed constitutes one of those times. My husband and I called ahead and asked for a table for two- that was easy and quick no problem. When we arrived, we came 10 minutes early so we sat at the bar and got a drink, again no problem. The catastrophe started when we were seated... We brought our half empty drink from the bar over, and ordered an appetizer since my husband had never eaten at the Patten House. We were prepared to drop $120 for a meal for the two of us. We told the waitress when she comes back with the appetizer that we would order our meal. We got our appetizer 10 minutes after we ordered, and after we were given the wrong "small plate"- again were easygoing so we didnt mind... But then, we noticed that our waitress had gone to the table next to us three times since our appetizer was delivered (by a buss boy not our waitress)- and we started to become impatient... I decided to time how long it would take someone to simply ask about our beverages, let alone get our meal ordered... In total we waited 35 minutes before I got up and left, mind you we never were attended to again. I could have walked out without paying for our appetizer, but I chose to hand the hostess a $20 on our way out, covering our small plate and tipping our waitress almost 100%... Because clearly this establishment and our waitress needed the money more than us. I work in the service industry and could never imagine servicing a guest like this. I am almost ashamed to wonder if part of the reason we had such poor service is because we are a homosexual couple. Is Geneva that behind? We wanted a fun date, and unfortunately left hungry and dissatisfied with a very bad taste in my mouth from The Patten House.

Great place for a real nice dinner! My wife and I tried the Patten House for Dinner and we were not disappointed. The old Patten House that the restaurant is in is really picturesque and sets the mood. While the weather during or visit didnt allow us to enjoy the patio and wrap around deck it did look very nice. The interior was a mix of old and new and was had a very relax but refined feel to it, perfect place for my wife and I to enjoy a night out without the kids. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the crab cakes which were very good and came with two crab cakes. Our entrees came with choice of soup or salad and some tasty biscuits with honey butter. I got the Gumbo which was fantastic and my wife got the corn chowder which was also very good. For our entrees I got the grouper which was blackened and came on a bed of avocado mashed potatoes, it was excellent. My wife got the stuffed chicken which came with a side of kale that was cooked similar to creamed spinach and some fingerling potatoes. The chicken was really good but the kale was amazing, usually kale is something you eat but dont really enjoy in my experience but this was really really good. The portions were generous and the food was great! As far as price goes be prepared to pay $25-35 per main dish, but they did have a variety of sandwiches which were in the teens if you wanted something a little less expensive. Defiantly checkout the Patten House.

The first time my husband and I went to the patton house we had the Brussel sprouts. They were very good. The second time we had them they tasted like they were leftovers and were reheated. We were very disappointed. We went again and I had the filet sliders which came with one side for $14. It was to be 2 tournedos of beef each on a bun. I should have realized a problem when the waiter did not ask me how I wanted the beef cooked, and when I told him Id like it med rare he gave me a funny look. I have to say I honestly felt like I was in that "wheres the beef!" comercial!! The meat was tender and flavorful but was maybe 1/8" thick and 2" diameter. I would be embarrassed to serve something like that. Charge more if you have to but at least serve more than one bite per sandwich. Good thing they messed up my order and served fries with it. I would have been starving. The atmosphere is beautiful. I might give you one more chance. Then again maybe not.

Patten House, although beautiful, should not claim cajun quisine. I am from the Bayou and have eaten in the best cajun restaurants. The gumbo was simply a bad chicken and sausage with rice and gravy, horrible. The dirty rice tasted like a good jambalya. However, the service was perfection and the management was fantastic. When our check was done incorrectly they made things right. My Cosmo was excellent and my catfish was really good. Patten House, stick to Midwestern food and leave Cajun quisine to the south. Please get another chef that knows Cajun and Creole quisine dishes.

We have been to Patten House a number of times and have brought many people here. The service and food has always been stellar. We unfortunately will not return. Not because Two attempts by the kitchen to deliver the prime rib prepared rare or even medium rare was a failure. Or that the rest of the food on the plate was tepid or over salted. Rather it was the reaction of the owner who just shrugged and walked away. Jack the waiter was excellent and should be commended for his service. (We spent $272 including the tip for four meals, two cocktails and one glass of wine)

Great Cajun food. Definitely worth the visit. Lori our waitress was fantastic! Had great recommendations. Every single thing we ordered was great. My wife and I split some crab cakes that were phenomenal. I tried the gumbo and couldnt believe how good it was, same can be said about the cheddar biscuits. My wife had the salmon and I had the blackened red Gruber. Unreal! Overall everything was a little pricey but very worth it. Well be back and with more people we have to show this place off to. Added bonus, the house is a really cool setup and great ambiance.

Awful. Giving one star only because the weather was beautiful. Service is so bad I wondered if our waiter had been fired and left with no one to take over. Ordered 5 sandwiches for our party of 5 and after 90 minutes of inquiries about our food status from busboys and other waiters it was obvious their specialty is serving appetizers to customers that came in well after us. Dont believe or trust their excuses about the status of your food. Everyone there is clueless, even the female manager that was of no help. Oh, we never got our food and just left.

Brother and I went last evening 5:30 for dinner, waiter was great, food was delicious, only thing some of the items couldve been crispier like the catfish nuggets but the Rockefeller oysters were amazing and the grits that came with the crab cakes were outstanding and Im not a big grits fan, they checked up on us enough times and the hostesses even cleared the last few plates we still had at the end while we finished up our cocktails. All in all very nice evening.
