This is arguably the quintescential coffee shop Evanston thats full of smiles and great coffee. The use Metropolis brand coffee which yields a wonderfully smooth. The barista staff continue to perfect their award winning latte art and they are always enthusiastic about their coffee products. Farther from the Northwestern sphere of influence so that the faces youll see here are not the typical students looking for a library or study hall alternative. Free internet usually has the perimeter of the space filled with typical laptop hunchbacks. On a given Saturday or Sunday afternoon, the place is filled with local table game players, building associations, local theatre groups, etc. I would add that I am not affiliated in anyway, just an avid coffee shop patron. This review is in comparison with nearly every shop on the north side of Chicago.

Like most of Evanston it seems, I come to Brothers K regularly to work. While the mocha isnt as good and there arent as many varieties of coffee as the Starbucks across the street, there are endless seats where one can plug in a computer and work, and usually at least one or two is free. The cashier and baristas are friendly and often chat with the customers. Their food is slightly cheaper and a lot more substantial than Starbucks, with standouts being their quiche, Spanakopita-inspired spinach and onion stuffed pies, and vegetarian burritos. It has a friendly, relaxed ambiance and is a great place to work if you want a change from the "student-y" vibe of the places closer to campus.

Ive been to coffee shops all over Chicagoland, and this ranks as my absolute favorite in Evanston. The owners are great guys - brothers obviously. They use Metropolis coffee (from the shop by Loyola), which I prefer over Intelligentsia, though theyre both phenomenal coffees. For coffee snobs, you may have noticed a slight drop off since their award-winning barista, Jonathan, left for other opportunities in Chicago, but they remain the best. If you live in Evanston and havent tried them out, its worth it. I usually plan on taking it to go - it can get busy in there - which I can do fairly easily since its close to the Main stop on the purple line.

I love Brothers K and Im a local to Evanston. Unfortunately though, there is a barista here who has taken a dislike to me over ordering an iced coffee instead of a hot coffee. I dont know who mixed up, her, or me but I didnt mind. I was sorry she had to change it to iced but it was just a small cup of black coffee! Nothing fancy. Anyway, came in again today and she gave me a hard time about picking a tea. She treated me like I was stupid. I am disappointed to say the least. I wont be coming back for a while. Great coffee! Bad service....

Its not the kind of coffeeshop Id go if it werent because it was less than a block away form my work, but they have fresh pastries everyday and its very local. The entire neighborhood gathers day during the day. Its definitely a family oriented place, and they also have a veggie burrito. Pay attention to the side blackboard because it took me a couple weeks to see that!

The coffee is fine, but what is up with the hours? Really closing at 8pm on Friday and 7pm on Saturday nights???. They should at least be open until 11pm. Many a night I have a hankering for a cappacino or latte, but am still missing the late night kaffee houses in Berlin, where 10pm is when the poetry readings or open mics just get started.

Stumptown coffee!! Im from Oregon and the best thing about Brothers K is that I can get Stumptown here. Everyone who works here is also really nice, there are good pastries and snacks (including bagels and savory breakfast pastries), and there are books and games. Its possible to find an outlet, but not every table has one.

I live about a block away from this place and its just one of those cafes you would love to have in your neighborhood..very vibrant atmosphere with a mixed crowd and another wonderful thing is they charge you a few extra cents for using take out cups.. wonderful coffee with a dash of environmental awareness...

I usually buy and roast my own beans, but since Ive moved near Brothers K Ive slacked off. Their coffee is spectacular (I usually get their cappuccino). Some of the best coffee Ive ever had, in one of the nicest, friendliest coffeeshops you could ask for. It is a true neighborhood gem and well worth a trek .

Ive been in the coffee industry for over 10 years. Finding a custom pour by a talented barista in the Chicago area is difficult. Thats why I love Brothers K. Ive never gotten a poor shot of espresso from these talented folks. My only complaint is that they dont have a large enough space on busy days.

Best espresso in Evanston, second to none. Also my favorite in Chicagoland, ahead of other classics: Big Shoulders, Dark Matter, Worm hole, etc... Love these guys too, especially since they roast their beans, but espresso quality wise and crafting is incredible at Brother K and Other Brother.

Coffee is delicious. Food choices are limited but what they have is good and locally sourced. This is the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop where the baristas know your name and what you order before you get to the counter. One of my most visited haunts around town.

Brothers K is a neighborhood gem, anchored by the perfection of their coffee. Sure, there are things that could be tweaked- a comfy chair here, some variety on their food menu there- but the mix of personalities, friendliness and quality of their beverages cant be beat.

This coffee house is where I feel like at home. The people, the ambiance, the barista coolness, this all makes it one of the best coffee houses in Evanston! The coffee is quality, and they also know how to make it well. My husband and I love this place.

The staff here are great. Ive been coming here for years and know some of them very well, and they are universally good. The food is generally good, and their espresso is decent as well. Their coffee, however, leaves a lot to be desired.

Lovely neighborhood Coffee Shop. They carry Stumptown and Metropolis coffee and make custom espresso drinks. Everyone who works here is knowledgeable about the product and incredibly friendly. The pastries are from a local bakery.

The baristas were knowledgeable. We chatted about the perfect microfoam for some time while they made my cortado. Could not recommend it more. I had the spinach feta pastry which was great as well, just make sure to heat it up!

Great inexpensive coffee, and very friendly baristas. They have board games and even a library where you can donate or take any book you want. Best coffee shop in the area!
