One of the best cafes in Evanston. Its a blend between A traditional Cafè, and a trendy new restaurant. Just missing the Chicago border, this little coffee shop holds its own. Its claim to fame are the AWESOME bathrooms, exotic coffee drinks and comfortable seating. The staff are very polite. If you identify as a hipster, this is the place for you. Lots of people dress and eat the part. This extends to the servers as well. The selection of beverages is average, but dont let that fool you. Your drink will have a little twist, something extra that you might not expect. I ordered an expresso and it came with cayenne pepper in it. Definitely an interesting take on a classic. Food here is expensive. youll spend maybe $6-8 on a Coffee and a pastry. But the experience and quality of food circumvents the high asking price. The Place is very clean, sometimes a bit humid. Its a great location if you just need to sit down and work on an essay. I wont spoil the surprise on what lurks in their bathroom, but that quality alone deserves your drive over to this cute coffee shop.

LOVE this place! Everything about it is spectacular, especially the old fashion doughnuts! Wow. The gals are super nice, the new guy is nice too. Their mocha is the best one Ive ever had, hands down. Whoever their pastries supplier is has hit a good spot with this café. It is not expensive but it is not overly cheap either. If youre into interior design youll love this place; rugged textures mixed in with rough wood, cool looking metal stools, PS poly chairs, very inventive backgrounds above the main café prep area, witty bathroom, etc. It is also nice that they feature local artists and give them an opportunity not only to promote their work but also to sell it. Free wifi, tables fill up fast! During summer, they had an old fashion doughnut with passion fruit glaze; HEAVENLY!

First rate coffee, espresso and snacks. Thing that always impresses me about Simone and her crew is how thoughtful everything is from the varied playlists. There is a "from scratch" mentality that makes my time at this Café feel special not just another coffee place. The sandwiches, soups and salads are way beyond the typical Café fare and considering that they are made from scratch thy are super reasonable. I wish had more time to talk about the food but if delicious and clean food (clean food is not always delicious too!) made from scratch is important to you check this place out. Finally the people behind the counter are warm and unpretentious and always welcoming. Thanks to Simone and the whole Sol family.

Sol cafe has great special lattes every few months. They retired the Cranes in the Sky which had orange vanilla, and almond. Now they have an equally delicious coffee with wildflower, lavender and lemon zest Orders are made quickly and their food provides healthy options if you are hungry. They have redone the decor a bit with mostly small tables for two though there are a few more comfortable chairs and a couch which remains from the old decor. There are board games tucked away should you and your friends want to play. Regulars who go there are friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. If you need to get some work done they have free WiFi and it is a great place to read.

Sol Cafe is a nice addition to Howard Street. Their staff is really engaging and always in a great mood. I really love that they host local artists for shows and have vintage sales. Its a nice addition to the open and conversational attitude of the coffee shop. An extra bonus to them for selling Reeses peanut butter cups at the counter. Bakery is lovely, but sometimes a peanut butter cup is the best match for a cup of coffee.

This cafe opened up a couple of months ago, and couldnt be more welcome on this street. Every beverage and snack I have had has been superb, the environment has been comfortable and inviting whether Ive been knitting or working or gaming with friends. Its right next to the Howard Depot and on my way into work, and theyve been having lots of fun community events I hope to be able to attend more of!

Trendy space with a cozy vibe. I came here for the first time today and it was definitely not a disappointment. I ordered a latte and it was one of the better ones that I have had around town. I would definitely consider going here for a quick fix or just need a place to chill if I was in the neighborhood. I wish it closed a little later than seven, though!

Thoroughly impressed! Im a bit of a coffee shop junkie, and this is one of my all-time favorites in Chicago. It checks all the boxes: high quality coffee (Gaslight roasters) and food, compelling and beautifully designed space, tons of seating and outlets with wifi and bottomless mug in antique ceramics. Can it get better? Not really.

Love this little space! It would get five stars, but the recent addition of food has been disappointing. Ill try it again and update if its improved, but we found it to be bland and unappealing. I also find their coffee to taste burnt, but maybe thats just me. Staff are usually friendly and helpful. Space is warm and welcoming.

I really like this shop. My three favorite things are: 1) creative decor, walls, tables, and ambience. 2) Great coffee from gaslight, a local Chicago roaster. 3) Do-rite Donuts. Cant go wrong. I also like that this is one of the only cool coffee shops in the far north Rogers Park area. Very cool.

I LOVE this cafe. The industrial vibe made cozy with succulents and spalted silver maple details at the espresso bar, that bacon doughnut and the fabulous coffee I get tomake at home, Simone and the staff are so welcoming...truly great place I want around a long time!

Perfect ambiance-- cool but unassuming. Nice clientele-- a mix of students, families, and people from the neighborhood. Very good coffees, teas, and specialty items for Rogers Park prices. And of course Growling Rabbit breakfast burritos and Glazed & Infused donuts.

I am so happy to have the Sol Cafe on Howard. This part of Rogers Park is definitely a coffee desert. The decor is nice - Id be comfortable hanging out here. The drinks are a mix of old standards and unique concoctions. All in my neighborhood. Great..

Espresso is great. Awesome Batistas, would give 5 stars but I have had a few of their lunch sandwiches and they are not good. Bread doesnt work well, ingredients are not very fresh. Not horrible but the food could be as good as coffee.

The taste is unique the 3 times I have been here each cup has been so rare its hard to describe. I love every single one. The workers here are very polite which makes me feel comfortable and relaxed.
