I just saw the owner dive over the counter and sprint 2 blocks to hand a doughnut to customer who forgot it. Not only is their Metropolis coffee superb, their customer service is unrivaled! Food: They serve Bennisons doughnuts, a stellar offering from a local bakery. I have never really been a coffee fan, and then one day I walked in and deeply inhaled the aroma of their Metropolis coffee offering. My day now begins when they open for business. Nuff said. Decor: Minimalist. Wall features paintings for sale by local artists. Service: Beverages are consistently excellent. Wait is never more than a couple minutes, even when the line backs up to the door.

Not only great tasting coffee, but also a nice, sunny location. Very friendly staff. I can count on quick service if Im in a hurry, or relax and enjoy watching the world pass by if Im not. All seats face the windows but there are only stools inside. The counters are deep enough for laptops, textbooks, etc. however. Chairs and tables outdoors when weather permits.

The baristas strike a great balance between friendliness and efficiency, style and conformity. Similarly the espresso is well treated and results in some of the best I have had (I am a former Intelligentsia barista). It is a nice feeling that despite the high quality coffee, I leave remembering the service.

I decided to venture outside my normal comfort zone coffee today. I was not disappointed! Not only was the coffee superb, everyone was friendly. I dont make out to Evanston all the time but this is my new fave spot to get a cup of java.

Cappuccino is the size of a latte. Its not strong at all and you will taste the milk, not the coffee. Despite my feedback, i will still come there to try esspresso or a pour over.
