Went there for Sunday Lunch I ordered 38 which was Pho noodle with beef combo and Spring Roll The portion size is okay but the spring roll it was stored in a fridge which made lettuce and shrimp inside cold also the wrap was dry, it was stuck on the plate, and it was so chewy which was hard to split them. I asked them if it was frozen or fridges but they denied and told me it was fresh (which I dont believe) At the end of the meal I waited for the check i stared at them which I thought they would notice but they did not. After 5 minute I was done waiting I went up to pay. Server there does not ask you if the food was good or if customer is ready for check, they was making conversation behind desk. Total Price: $13.82 Conclusion: Not a place to go if you want fresh spring roll, or in rush. As a Local Guide I recommend you to go to : King Pho

Catching an earlier than usual train from Chicago, I arrived in Des Plaines an hour earlier than planned. Just off the metra track, a Vietnamese restaurant called Dung Gia sparked my interests. I ordered a beef sate (with a Vietnamese name I couldnt pronounce without graceful help from the waiter--dont worry, the foods are listed in English as well). The entree was preceded by a traditional soup, peppered with rice noodles, finely chopped green onions and minute strips of chicken. The main dish was served promptly, and didnt disappoint. The beef and seasoned, sauteed veggies tasted delicious, seasoned with oriental spices and hinting of the familiar sesame and nuts. There was enough to fill me up for a reasonable price. Next time youre in the area, id recommend Dung Gia.

The Pho was above average. I can honestly I have had way better. The rest of the meal was ok. My biggest complaint was the service. The young lady that came to take our order was less than helpful and seemed to me she would have rather been with her friends than working at the family restaurant. At one point when we asked for take out containers I saw her hand the container to another waiter and the cover fell to the floor. The waiter gave her a look but then he brought the cover over to us anyway not realizing that our whole table witnessed it. I had very high hopes with this place. After my experience I really dont know how this place has the ratings it does. I probably will not be back.

Ive been to a ton of Vietnamese Restaurants and Dung Gia by far is the best. The have the best broth in the Chicagoland area and has no MSG. My Fiancee and I eat here 2 sometimes 3 times a week. Here are some Things to try (Highly Recommended): #16 Spring Roll #18 Beef Roll #28 Papaya Shrimp Salad #29 Buddha Salad "My Favorite Pho" #34 Pho Bo "My all time Favorite Soup" #41 Bun Bo Hue (Its spicy and has completely different taste then pho definitely a must try if you like spicy stuff) And my favorite stir fry dishes is: #63 Bo Luc Lac which amazing!!!!! If you like Vietnamese food this is a must go to and even if youve never tried vietnamese food this is the place to try it out at.

We went to Pho Dung Gia last weekend because a friend recommended it to us. I am so glad we took his recommendation. The food was phenomenal! I had the vegetable spring rolls and the Hu Tieu Don Ap Chao which was pan fried rice noodles and vegetables. The vegetables were so fresh and full of flavor. My boyfriend had the Do Bien Ca Ri filled with salmon, scallops, calamari, mussels, shrimp, potatoes, eggplant, onions, carrot in coconut milk & a spicy curry sauce. He was so happy and couldnt stop raving about it. The prices were really reasonable, the food was fresh and delicious and the staff was friendly and fast. Definitely going to be one of our go to places.

Unexpectedly solid Vietnamese fare in downtown Des Plaines. Over a few visits Ive had a couple of bowls of pho, a bun xiao, some goi cuon, and a few other things. All were reliable if uninspired. As to the pho, I would have liked a bit more character to the broth; this seemed to lack the deep richness of a long-simmered stock and intoxicating scents of the traditional aromatics. But the various meats, tendons, etc., were perfectly done and the noodles perfectly adequate. And pretty much any Vietnamese chef can out-cook anyone, so its not unsatisfactory at all.

Since I live in the San Jose area, with the largest Vietnamese population in the U.S, I am used to getting great Vietnamese food. So I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem in the NW Chicago burbs. The owner is super nice, and a lot of fun. This is a family run operation. Try the Mi Sate (I prefer the yellow noodles in my soup). They even have Bun Bo Hue, which is a spicy beef soup from central Vietnam - not always found in Saigon eateries. The pho is properly served with all the fresh garnishes. Highly recommended!

Basically my favorite restaurant in Des Plaines, and some of the best Vietnamese Ive eaten. The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly. Ive eaten there enough that some of the staff even recognizes me! Prices are very reasonable and the menu is very expansive. You could eat here every day for two months and not have the same dish twice. If you are in the area and are looking for something simple, clean, and tasty give Dung Gia a try.

Great Vietnamese food at exceedingly good prices. This is a destination restaurant that relocated from Evanston due to increased rent. This is a hidden gem of Des Plaines - much of the clientele comes from outside Des Plaines. Their Bo Luc Lac is basically filet mignon in a wine sauce and is amazing. Another favorite of ours is the Vietnamese fried rice that comes in a clay pot. Great service as well.

Had a chance to visit chicago recently and I tried noodles soup, a sandwich, and fried rice. Its all bad. And its coming from vietnamese guy. When I asked about the specific noodles soup that I saw on internet, owner just said no we do not have, just on the menu. How did someone eaten before and shared the picture? First and last time experience.

Food was mediocre. I ordered the egg noodles beef soup. What I got was a super spicy soup and non that say on the menu to be a spicy soup. I decided to try it but the spice was too much. I also ordered the fried egg rolls- nothing spectacular- just bland and the sauce was bland as well. Overall I give them a 2 star for trying.

By far my wife and Is favorite dining location during our time in Chicago as newlyweds (and before!). The pho was good ANY time of year and the lunch specials seem to come out as fast as we could order them. Owners usually staff the tables and were very fun to get to know over our years coming here. Great food and great service.

I have been going here for 5+ years. Still my favorite pho even though I have had it many times in the city. Today they made a mistake with my order, but immediately compensated me for the mistake. The food is amazing, but even more so is their pride for what they do. I will always suggest this place to friends and family.
