three years ago, I posted a kind of negative review, wishing El Burrito would iron out a few problems, AND THEY DID!! This is now our go-to, favorite, anytime restaurant. Youll find us here at least once a week, and, Im embarrassed to admit, sometimes more often. We bring guests, fmaily, friends, business associates and no one is ever disappointed. This is authentic food prepared by two young men who are formally trained (Im pretty sure they told us they went to culinary school), What they can;t do with Mexican food just cannot be done! Enchilladas to pine for! A somplimentary soup that warms my heart. Hearty flavors and nothing bland about any of their dishes. They arent afraid to offer devilishly hot sauces, but will accomodate guests who dont care for fire hot. The wait staff are always polite and willing to do what you want to make your meal a pleasure. Dont miss this place...the lunch specials are $5.00 and you will not leave hungry or unsatisfied. Hmmm...think I better head over there, its lunchtime. OLD REVIEW — This was, for ages, our favorite place, Mexican or other. Recently, weve observed some staff issues that are causing poor service and a loss of the friendly atmosphere. We seldom stop in any more, but we miss the good food, well prepared. Maybe theyll get it ironed out. (4-5-2013)

First off, i agree with John Cruz and his assessment of that one waitress. Dont know her name, but her body language and attitude equals bad service. We told her we were there for the $1 tacos. Ordered 10 and the bill came out to over $20 with drinks. I asked why did she charge me $1.50 per taco since the sign outside said $1 tacos. She said that those were not it. WTF, I did say we were there for $1 tacos. Didnt tip, told her she needs to verify what is and isnt a $1 taco. My family and I had gone there 3 weeks earlier and we all loved what we had and this other waitress was AWESOME! Too bad that other waitress has to ruin it for the establishment. Management needs to correct this to keep clientele. If we ever go again, we hope to get the first waitress or anyone other than that nasty waitress. The food is dam good, and the molé is out of this world. The only sacrifice one would make is to put up with bad service.

I went here last night with my buddy knowing it was dollar tacos. I asked the lady who was our waiter that I wanted them and I wanted to confirmed it was $1 tacos she said no...I was confused but I took her word for it. Ordered something else and she didnt even check up on us! She gave us our food and she seems like she didnt want us to be there. As I was leaving I see a big sign "$1 tacos Monday and Tuesday". This lady has served me before and she has this bad attitude towards us. Dont work there if youre not going to treat your customers right! Only reason I gave this a star is because the food was really good.

I was in the area and googled "Mexican food near me" this place popped up and I decided to go. It was the best decision I made that whole day. Amazing food great service and prompt serving time. Everything was perfect. Chips and salsa served as an appetizer of course and let me tell you, I could have ate just that and been content. The salsa was amazing. I always compare it to my mothers and of course, its never gonna be as good but its the closest Ill get to home. Definitely recommend this place to anyone and I will most definitely be going back!

This was our first time dining here. Every time we passed by they were always busy so we thought it must be great. Now I realize it is because dinner for two takes about 2 hours. By far the worst service I have ever had at any style restaurant. We waited for our food for about 90 minutes. Once we got the food it was just ok. If they were completely empty I might consider going again for a 2nd try but I would have to be seriously convinced.

This afternoon I was walking on my lunch break and it started raining heavily so I ducked in this place to wait it out. I had already had lunch but hey, I cant be in a mexican restaurant and not at least have a taco, ... so I did...and it was good 8). The young lady that served me was really nice too. Ill have to try the chili relleno before I leave the area. If their chili relleno is on point, they will have a new fan.

Wow! Love the comida, the servicio, & the ambiente! My wife, Susan, who is not Hispanic, turned me, a Hispanic, into a devoted patron of El Burrito. The food is always served fresh, hot if its supposed to be hot, and the presentation is beautiful. One of the best kept secrets of Crystal Lake is that this delicious comida is very reasonably priced. Also, the service is very good. Nice, cozy atmosphere also.

We eat here at 8pm, one other family in restaurant. Wait staff was rude, had to ask her to come back to the table a few times for drink refils. We had nachos and taco dinners. Foid was bland. We did not finsh our food, nor did we take it home. Restroom was filthy, and there was an overflowing trash can in the hall by the trash. The water tasted like sulfur.

I paid over $20 for food that usually costs me between $12-15 in Rogers Park or Humbolt Park...and the portion sizes suck. Carnes Asada in both the burrito and tacos were way too fatty, it felt like I was eating fat tacos not steak tacos. And they only had lemon, no limes! Gotta have my lime with my tacos!

Best Mexican food this side of the Border!! Not to mention our Waiter i believe he was the Manager Fortunado or something like that was delish too! If he was on the Menu I wouldve ordered 5 of him mmmm hmmm !!!!! Highly recommend if you want great food and a fine young Man to look at!

The food was very good! The service was fair. The waitress was daydreaming or something, hope it was just a bad day for her... The restaurant cleanliness was ok, could be cleaner but it wouldnt stop me for going back. Ill try it again and see how it goes.

I would like to say theres el zarape Mexican restaurant down the street next to Josephs fresh market that place has great food and salsa give them a try and you will see that this.place is a disappointment.

I really do enjoy this restaurant but watch your bill they charged us 434.00 for a 43.00 bill I made us wait a week to fix it
