Dinner in a hospital. Food is good, service is competent, but ambience is a minus 7. This restaurant is literally located in a northwestern hospital building that is normally inhabited by doctors, researchers and patients. The building , neighborhood --and restaurant-- have all the charm of a medical facility. There are so many locations in Chicago with great charm and ambience, why would Danny Meyer put a place here ? Would he do that in NYC? Meyers "no tip" policy doesnt apply here. Management was quick to reject that idea and explain it away as function of NYC min wage policy. I was surprised because the New York Times said Meyers no-tip approach is the future......may be, but not here in Chicago Go elsewhere. Find a real Chicago restaurant with charm and character of this great city. Life is too short to dine in a sterile vacuum.

Poorly managed. I tried so hard to host my event at Green River. Derek the sales rep was lazy - I had 30k to spend at Green River on my event. I submitted inquiries, provided all relevant info and when asked when he would get back to me with info he said "I try to wrap things up before the weekend" so potentially I would receive a response about my event on Friday. A month of follow ups and still no response despite. Spoke to the assistant manager of the Restaurant (Chris?) explained that I was still hopeful that I could work with Green River. He apologized for the situation and promised escalations and callbacks. Spoke to him 2-3 times yet we are two weeks later and no callbacks from his managers. Waste of time. Very disappointed.

Annex is one of the more pretentious places Ive been in Chicago. I went with friends after reading about the supposed outstanding city views, but for some ridiculous reason they had all the windows covered with curtains on a clear, beautiful Saturday night. After our immediate disappointment with the lack of stunning city views, my next disappointment came when we discovered the drink prices starting at $16 and climbing up to $23! I dont care how exclusive a place is, or creative the drinks may be, the price range definitely shouldnt start at $16! It did feel trendy and cool, and the bar seats were extremely comfortable...thats the only reason for my 2 stars. I will not be back...even if I hit The Powerball.

This place has been receiving a lot of hype. I went there with a friend for lunch but I wasnt overly impressed (CAVEAT: I DID GO FOR LUNCH). I got the steak-frites and I loved it. The steak was very well-prepared and the frites are lightly dusted with cheese. YUM. The whitefish tartine was good - not GREAT. For $11 -- it was pretty expensive. Tasty, but I wouldnt get it again for that price. Its kind of confusing since its nestled in a medical building on the 18th floor. The view isnt spectacular though but I do want to come back at night for drinks!

Green River offers one of the better cocktail lists in Chicago, and the dining area is upscale, trendy and yet intimate. The approach, through long hospital-like corridors is a bit weird, but once there you can settle in and enjoy some interesting small plates and a lot of cocktails. One word of caution is that wine offerings are pretty limited, so it’s definitely a cocktail place. I liked that there were a lot of choices that weren’t overly sweet. Food was good, even if there were no real home runs. Service was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Good food and service. Not cheap, but not outrageous. Located on a veranda of a Northwestern medical building in the heart of Streeterville. Expansive views east, south, and west. Been twice and enjoyed it. Significant drawback alert: service on the veranda ends in the evening around 8. That means self-service by heading inside to get drinks and schlep them back outside. That got old at night. Service outside is sketchy even when open. Significant drawback alert 2: entire veranda closes too early.

I feel like this place was trying very hard to impress when its greatest assets are its view and its cocktails. No need for a deconstructed tiramisu-- you could sell hot dogs at this location and it would draw people in. Also this place is listed as of now as a "two dollar sign" location, and it is definitely three. Quite expensive for a casual dinner. Come for a cocktail with a view. Leave the rest unless you are just accustomed to paying this much for good, but not exceptional, food.

Service was somewhat slow, but friendly. Views were nice. Presentation of food was ok, but overall we all felt the dishes were trying too hard to be creative, rather than focus on highlighting the merit of the good without overdoing it. The dishes were a mishmash of assorted flavors not all complimentary to one another, and did nothing to enhance the food. Food was overpriced, drinks somewhat disappointing. Overall we did not enjoy our experience and will not be back.

Make sure you have deep pockets. Great for client entertainment and expense accounts. Quality ingredients used throughout the menu both food and cocktails are reflected in the pricing. Highly level execution and flavors. You can always saddle up to the bar and order a delicious lobster roll. If you are a seasoned gourmand, you will appreciate GreenRiver.

Dont get the chicken salad for lunch. It has barely any chicken or avocado. The chicken I did have was fatty. Specialty drinks are ok...i feel like theyre trying too hard. Our service was slow, and it was not busy inside... My fiance had the Cuban and he said it was ok. It is decorated nicely and has a cool roof top area, but I will not be back.

the cheapest glass of wine was 14$. We tried two different types of wine and they were both as tasteless as it they contained water. We asked for the halibut fish, which was 33$ and so salty that it was hard to taste what fish was that. Waiters are courteous at least. You just pay for being in a fancy place and nothing more. Never again.

We celebrated my moms birthday last night and had exceptional service from our server and the entire staff. Special shout out to Justin! The food was amazing. Loved the octopus appetizer. We shared the trout, saffron spaghetti and the cheeseburger which were great as well as all the desserts. You have to try this place!

Awesome view of Lake Michigan and City of Chicago. Simple menu, food was well thought out and prepared. French toast was delicious! Drinks were done well. Full bar, scratch made, no mixers. Odd entrance as the lower half of the building is a hospital. Beyond this, a must try at least once...especially in the summer.

$14 glass of poor-quality wine was served in a plastic "glass". Friend ordered champagne served in a plastic champagne flute. Cocktails unimpressive. Overall not at all worth the price point, even considering the views. $14 for wine to be served in plastic is extremely disappointing.

Not too sure why everyone seems to go on about poor service as that definitely wasnt the case when I went. An incredible restaurant with top-notch service, friendly staff, wonderful food and beautiful views, the next time I am back in Chicago I would happily dine there again!

I came here for drinks with friends, and was thoroughly impressed. Yes, its a weird location (in a hospital), but if you can look past that, youre in for a treat. Service, ambiance, drinks were all good. Im planning on making a return trip to try their food. Do it!
