Be forewarned: this is a hole-in-the-wall, like all bakeries in Chinatown are. Dont go here for the decor, go here for dirt-cheap baked goods (plenty of options for under $1 each!) & drinks. Nice cheap ($3) strong Hong Kong-style milk tea that you wont find at Joy Yee or Kung Fu tea, since they use powders instead of the real stuff here. The real shining star that keeps my fam coming back here for 10+ years is their egg tarts. Theyre the one of the only bakeries in Chicago that uses a short-bread crust for their egg tarts. Weve also been huge fans of their chestnut cakes for years. Super-light yellow spongecake with a chestnut filling, topped with whipped cream. Delish! (& much cheaper than Western bakeries!)

One of my favorite bakeries in Chicago! The bakery has a wide selection of buns, tarts, cakes, patties, drinks and hot food. Talk about choices! The egg tarts are my favorite. They also have a chicken pot pie tart which is equally as delicious. On top of the bakery portion at St Anna, they also serve hot food all day long at low prices. If youre up early, Id recommend breakfast. Their congee and youtiaos (fried dough) are amazing along with a cup of soy milk, its a perfect combination. Every time I visit Chicago, I gotta take home a big box of egg tarts and buns home. Gotta come try this place out!

I love the bakery - you cant beat a BBQ pork bun with a Hong Kong style tea ( hot or iced), but try the main courses too. Great food at a great price. Try their takes on very non-Chinese deserts too. Eg, the black forest cake. It is amazing how a light cake can still suggest the same flavours as the decadent rich version.

They have the best egg tarts in Chinatown. Their crust is unique and healthier. Unlike the majority of egg tart crusts, Saint Annas is not made from layers of pig fat! If youre looking for something delicious, yet healthy, their egg tart is the way to go!!

All of the cakes were great!! Not to sweet and very soft! Perfect for a birthday cake since you can have a personal designed cake. Their Chinese buns are great also. Really suggest you stopping by to grab so pastries while your at Chinatown.

This Chinese Cafe and bakery has great baked buns from sweet to savory, but also a good selection of traditional Chinese breakfast and lunch menus. Some of the breakfast items even comes with a baked bun AND a hot drink, all for under $6!

This place is not open at 5am. I went there at 7 to buy egg tarts for my wifes office but they were still closed. So please change the info on this page. THEY ARE NOT OPEN AT 5AM.

The coconut tarts are my favorite, unfortunately, they are getting smaller and more expensive over the years.
