Unfortunately, my future visits here got shuddered by a lone, young, rude guy working. I smiled and tried to make small talk but was met with grunts. When asked if an item was topped with Nuts he replied, “Whaddaya think they are?” (Sigh) At least the pastries were good. Not top-notch because they still had that slight ‘left out’ texture and flavor but still way above chain stores. My Apple Cinnamon Doughssant (like a long Cronut I guess) was very flaky and thick. The Beer and Pretzel Doughnut seemed to be one of their most unusual offerings (and looked the coolest) but it seemed more Caramel than Beer in flavor. I’m a bigger fan of their Scones—excellent with Tea or Coffee.

We ordered cookies and cupcakes for the bosses birthday. The cupcakes were about the right price, especially when compared with other local cupcakeries (is that a word?). However, they were a little smaller than the other ones. Regardless, we liked the flavors we chose. The cookies were like $2.75 a piece... kind of steep, but again, enjoyable. If I can expense it, Ill be back. If not... Ill probably go to Beatrix where at least I can get loyalty points for their (similarly-priced) delicious baked goods.

West Town Bakery is amazing! Ive eaten breakfast here steadily for the past few months since starting work in Chicago. Among all of the bakeries/coffee shops Ive tried (Intelligentsia included), Id pick West Town Bakery. The ginger scones and blueberry lemon scones are out of this world! Ive also never had their cold brew, but was offered a sample this morning. It was very well-made. Highly recommended to all passing through River North or the Chicago area!
