The staff was very friendly and nice. We asked for a special order for our son and they didnt mind to do the favor for us. Our favorite were Udon noodles. I ordered Niku-Udon, meat was seasoned with soy and sugar (sweet). My son ordered Udon with shrimp tempura. Udon was plain (that I liked, good flavor) and 5pc of shrimp tempura came with it. The tempura were crispy and so yummy! Of course, they have sushi and Donburi dishes like Katsuya-don, Ten-don etc. I like those Japanese restaurants who have home style Japanese cuisines, not only sushi. Ill definitely come back to Kikuya-san!

this place is amazing. Came here several times with my friends. They have quick service and the food tastes amazing. I suggest the beef udon, i get it almost every time I go. Its perhaps the best i have ever had. The people there are really nice. only problem is that the two doors open into each other making it hard to leave and enter but thats an architectural issue. The insides are decently furnished. I love this place

This was the best overall food I have ever had in my life. Ive had a few individual dishes that were better, but never a complete meal that could quite compete. The Hana Chili and Bond Roll were probably my favorite. Also, the peanut semiretired was amazing. The service was good but the restaurant was a little cramped and loud. All forgivable for the taste.

A small and cozy place to enjoy a good time with a friend or two. This is my favorite place to get sushi in the Hyde Park area and Its byob so bring along a bottle of your favorite wine to go with dinner. I wouldnt recommend it for a high profile date night but if you just want a nice casual weeknight dinner, I cant recommend this place enough.

Friendly staff, great food. Try the sushi, the udon, and the miso soup. Salmon butteryaki is not to be missed. The Best Japanese restaurant in the Chicago South Side. And it even gives 10% discount to U of C students.

I go to Kikuya almost solely for the ambiance. Im not a big fan of any of their food, its fine but its not amazing. The place itself is really cute, colorful and cozy. The people working there are also really nice.

I go here whenever I can, their udon is amazing, and they give you nice portions with sides at a great price. I love their fried vegetables, and the service is friendly, plus they dont charge for delivery.

In my opinion, the only passable Asian food place in Hyde Park (that Ive tried of course). A good selection of donburi is the main draw to this place. The prices are fair and great service
