Uncomfortable seating in the wait area. Mens washroom - to narrow for an average size person to try to squeeze in without wiping the surfaces on both sides with ones sleeves. Help- borderline rude or probably inexperienced - My experience is for a Sunday Lunch, I can only hope that they orchestrate a better service for Dinner. After I approached the service counter and they discovered there wasnt seating avail instead of pointing me to wait area and and using "please wait" the guy on the counter annoying asked me to "wait!" instead. When my my turn came, they got someone else ( I guess they could have taken names to help their process). After they sat me down on a table, no one came, I had to, after a while, assume I will be partaking in the buffet, which when I did, required bread and, once again no one is attending. As for the food -I had picked goat curry from the buffet, well I would have been surprised if it had turned out any better. The curry was greasy, it wasnt the " culinary journey" to India, they were displaying among their printed accolades. I am very familiar with Indian food and cooking - when done right, it is truly a fine and intricate food with extreme care in preparation. Instead, what I sampled was un-indentifiable pieces of meat, chopped without care to its ultimate purpose. The meat was stringy and tough. The bread they brought out eventually was pre-greased; I guess there is no choice if you dont want grease on your bread. I had bad after taste for hours; no, not from the spices, which is to be expected, but as if you consumes something burnt and very foul. I dont typically indulge in food of any kind; but once in a while I get a hankering for certain foods. Two days prior I had indulged in the same food at a dive - Pakeeza, on Orleans and Oak street. The place is for cabbies, food sans ambience. The meat was identifiable, fresh tasting. Person behind the counter was polite and pleasant. It took less than 10 minutes for food to arrive. I had no after taste . True, that place had no ambiance, but everyone was extremely polite, I saw a fellow diner give me the biggest smile this side of Atlantic. While it was a self service place, the buss boy was attentive and was only so happy to pick up after me. At about 200% of the price and 10% of quality; I would seriously say the Indian Garden guys are taking advantage of their clients ignorance and perhaps using location to their advantage; otherwise, it is more of a kidnap than a culinary journey.

Very very disappointed with this place. I chose it because there were several good reviews by desi people, but now that Ive eaten there I am sure those must be by someone scheming with the owners of this restaurant. I eat authentic Indian food on nearly a daily basis and the food I had here was VERY americanized. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala to go and was dubious when I picked it up, as the gravy was barely warm and the naan smelled overcooked. I specially ordered buttered naan and the naan was neither fresh, nor had the slightest hint of butter. The curry was made of large chunks of unseasoned chicken that had no flavor at all. I was left wondering if this restaurant even knows the definition of chicken tikka masala. The gravy also had little flavor and was soupy and bland. Not to mention this place is extremely expensive. An all-around disappointment. I was traveling for work (ie not my money) otherwise I would have returned and demanded a refund.

My 14 year old daughter wanted to try some Indian Food for her birthday. We gathered 3 generations of family ages 7 - 62 and went to Indian Garden. We had a reservation they were waiting on us called us by name when we arrived we were seated immediately. We got served right away the staff was very attentive and helpful as this was all our first time having Indian food. When you go ask for Momma she took GREAT care of us. She handled our table of 12 very well everything was perfect from the drinks, to the appetizers, to the main dishes. She made us all feel right at home and explained everything in great detail to us all even the kids. The decorum of the restaurant is festive They let us take pictures and even made a cake with a candle for my daughter out of various fruits and sung happy birthday. Thanks Momma & the Indian Garden staff for making my daughters 14th birthday celebration one she will never forget.

My Desi husband and I have been searching for an authentic Indian restaurant for a long time and we are so sad that it is in Chicago and we are no longer there. Although the wait staff could be improved, we cannot complain about any of the dishes or prices. They have even separated the non-veg and veg dishes out of respect, and we both though that added such a nice touch seeing as I am veg and it is indeed because of the cruelty that goes into the meat industry. We both loved this place and made many stops to it during our vacation in Chicago. When we visit the area again, this will be our first stop. As for the guy below me who had commented that it looked run down on the inside, Im not entirely sure we even visited the same restaurant. It had such an Indian vibe with all the decor and updated furniture. They definitely put some serious money into making this place shine with character.

I regrettably give this place only one star. I ordered delivery from them through the Doordash app and they messed the order up TWICE in a row. I ordered a Chicken Murg Tikka Masala and they sent only the sauce without the rice. For a standard $16.00 chicken tikka masala to come with no rice is ridiculous for those who dont know. I tried to reorder through the app and they sent the exact same thing again- just the sauce, no rice. After that I just got a refund from Doordash because they clearly were never going to send it- even though it is part of the dish I ordered. Im guessing they probably knew they could do that since it was through the app and not dealing with the customers directly. It was an incredibly shady thing to do over a small amount of rice. Definitely will never order from here again and will discourage anyone I know from giving them business.

Lets start with The good - If you are looking for "just ambiance" that is a OK place to go to - mind you, I am talking about "just ambiance" (excludes wait staff, food). Moreover, the seating is so arranged that it is extremely difficult to get out of your chair to get more food. Now on to The bad and The ugly - Food is horrible - I know what I am talking about. Wait staff try their best to ignore customers. They dont care about their customers - once they seat you and give you a few pieces of naan - you are on your own. Oh, did I say the food was horrible. As one of the other comments here said, they dole out naan, I thought that should not be bad, one can ask for more, right? WRONG! The wait staff try their best to ignore you! Oh, and the food was horrible. Go to a sandwich place or a pizza place instead you would be much more satisfied.
