Tried this for the first time due to disappointment with our usual Indian pick, Sitar Indian Cuisine. It was not busy - there were a few tables. We ordered some garlic naan as an appetizer. It was quickly delivered and had good flavor and texture. I had the Butter Chicken (Indian Hot) and my fiance had the Chicken Vindaloo (Medium). We both would rate our meals as average. We will probably try this place again and go for something different on the menu, but suffice to say this time we were neither disappointed nor impressed. I was pleased with the fact they did honor my request for Indian Hot. My fiance says his medium was very bland with no spice at all. We also had dessert - the Gulab Jaman. This was good - it had a rose water which neither of us has ever tasted and was very interesting. The service was very uneven, with refills quickly sometimes and at other times having to flag down a server for a check, Would not recommend at this moment in time, but also will give it another try,

Im sorry but this restaurant should be lucky that I am even giving them a 1 star. I hated the service. their is some dude in a damn mustache that cant speak a lick of English. My chicken tikka was slightly cold, honestly it tasted like someone just heated up left overs. I had to tell him 3 times on what kind of beverage I want. some of those epople really need to go take some ESL classes and actually learn how to communicate with people rather than just taking their payment and letting them be on their way. honestly I dont know what kind of chicken they use for their buffet but it taste like RUBBER! WTF! Seriously how the hell do people bare to eat this. the floor was sticky when I walked in, the bathroom, hell I was scared to even wash my hands because of how dirty it was, good thing I had hand sanitizer with me. I hope the owner of this place really takes my review into consideration. They have alot to upgrade at this place if they ever want me to even consider coming back here to eat.

The exterior -- a renovated fast-food place -- belies the interior at Woodlands, where dark wood and delicious aromas are the rule. The buffet is well worth the price; our lunch was comparable in cost to a sandwich shop. There was a broad selection of vegetarian dishes along with the ever-popular chicken tikka marsala and tandoor chicken. What surprised me was the evident freshness of the ingredients. Many Indian-food buffets provide tasty food that is stew-like in consistency, but my lunch at Woodlands consisted of recognizable chunks of potatoes, green beans, chicken, etc. Even more pleasantly surprising: The tandoor chicken was genuinely smoky, bearing the distinctive flavor of a real wood oven (not just roasted chicken with coloring). I was very favorably impressed by the sweet undercurrent to the tikka marsala, but my favorite element was the rice pudding for dessert. It was very watery but just sweet enough to be refreshing, yet subtle enough to be refreshing on a hot day.

What sets this place apart from most Indian restaurants is that it serves authentic and truly "pan-Indian" cuisine - a wide variety of dishes which represent the very diverse regional cuisines that are contained within the modern country of "India". Most Indian restaurants serve mainly cuisine from the Punjab region. I dont know the history of Indian food in America, but I do know that Punjabi people have a history of emigration. I assume they were the earliest restauranteurs in America and those who followed stuck with the winning formula. This is no knock against Punjabi cuisine! In addition to the variety available at Woodlands, there is a popular lunch buffet and weekend specials. The food is fresh and the service is prompt. You will always see Indian people eating here - always a good sign! For the less adventurous, you will also find all the familiar Punjabi dishes here, such as Palak Paneer, Naan, and Tandoori meats.

Been In Knoxville for last 30 Years. Having been to all Indian Restaurants in Knoxville and all around the country, Woodlands is the BEST indian food. I used to be a regular at the other place in Turkey Creek but NOT ANY MORE.. other place is going DOWN the Hill fast and Im sure woodlands has stepped IT UP to a whole different level. Service is awesome with staff who can speak english besides just "Water", "Thank you". Ambience is much inviting than just smelling and hearing kitchen fumes and chatter..Food is NON GREASY and just like home cooked that I can eat everyday without getting all day burps of Indian food and spices...I would highly recommend this PLACE over any other place in Knoxville...for food..for service and for interior that is more family oriented and NOT back to back train boggies that you sit, eat and GO....

Although not the authentic woodlands, as a regular customer of woodlands got excited to see the name and committed a blunder. We asked for thalis, to which the waiter told we dont have the mentioned curries, it would be chefs surprise. I straight away knew that I would be served the leftovers from the lunch buffet but was fine with it knowing the situation of Indian restaurants. The waiter got our order wrong. Made us wait for 10 more minutes to set it right. Served cold food. Manchuria and curries were unnecessarily sweet. Poori was oily Yogurt was turnt. Dint get our coffee which was part of thali, instead the check came first. When asked about coffee we were served cold shitty coffees and pale tea. Poor ambience, worst service, over priced stale food. Avoid if you care your money!

The variety of Indian food is outstanding. The intricate blended spices create a burst of flavor to be savored, The sauces surrounding chicken, beef, lintels, and vegetables are a treat to tastebuds. Cauliflower in cheese sauce is subtle and delicious. Fried okra is even included in the buffet! All "breads" are addictive and one will probably return for seconds and thirds. You can choose from a variety of chutneys to complement your meal. By adding a flavorful green mint chutney or orange onions, one can create an Epicurean Picasso on their plates. Desserts will not desert you culinary memory. There are several traditional desserts, but Mango ice cream topped with a triple chocolate brownie is a pleasant finish. As they say in France, "Bon aperitif"!

My family and I had reserved a catering order several months back under old management. I called to confirm two days ago and now NEW management has no records of it. On top of that, she (Veenu Batta) never called me back and I had to keep calling her. Then she would not honor the price I was given and THEN said she would not deliver. She said the delivery cost would as much as the food and would not honor ANYTHING. I am quoting her exact words..."If I took this catering order, I would be stupid because I am not making any money." Any other business owner, especially NEW management, would have said, "To hell with the money, I will work with you since you are left in a bind now." Not worth it! take a course in business management lady!

I just went here with a few friends and tried the buffet at lunch. I thought everything smelled delicious, all of the food had great flavor and the service was great. The inside is very nice and I like the atmosphere a lot. The mango ice cream on the buffet was reaaallly good, the naan was quite yummy and the chicken marsala was delicious. I dont know why this place is getting such bad reviews, but its not some fancy sit down restaurant. Its like the indian version of chilis I would say. We didnt order anything off the menu, just did the buffet, but next time were going to give it a try. I think this place is definitely worth your time to try it out for yourself. Also, their chai tea was DELICIOUS.
