The AMBIENCE Very funky looking place. Really random stuffed animals around from a duck to a rabbit decorate the place. The place is not crazy packed and ample street parking around. It seems somewhat hip but I really think the high school chairs should be changed out into something a little nicer. Was kind of strange that they write orders with a sharpie on the counter. The FOOD. DRINK I had a decent tree called the really green tea which I thought was green tea but looked super green. Did not taste like green tea and it was ok. EAT I had their house special for breakfast. I was bummed they didn’t serve the lunch before 11 but it was still pretty good. It was a piece of bread with goat cheese I think topped with bacon and an egg. I had no idea how to eat it without it turning into a crazy mess. It also came with a salad with some sliced cumquats. Overall it seemed ok - I don’t think the bread part is really needed - it kind of made it hard to eat. The SERVICE The line was fairly short on a Sunday morning and the tea made it out in seconds but the sandwich was more like 15+ min. Everyone was really nice and friendly. Overall pretty chill place and would love to try it for lunch.

I was walking up Milwaukee Avenue, still a full block away when I could smell something interesting. At first, I thought chocolate. But, then it had a slight Molé aroma. Finally, I realized the light smoke bellowing out the side of the building was fresh beans roasting. Out the vent and into my nostrils the Gaslight Coffee Roasters had me hooked. And, instead of following my strict schedule this morning, I promptly found myself inside, listening intently to the barista sashay through the dark roasted delights on tap. While Im a huge fan of anything coffee, this place is much more than a quick cup-of-drip to go. The coffee has deep intensity with subtle accents to put a spring in your step and a constant lingering flavor on your palate. Thus, becoming a bookmark of a serious labor of love this shop offers to the Logan Square neighborhood.

Love it, honestly this place is worth the hassle of finding parking in Logan Square, and worth an EL trip if youre in the neighborhood. I think the coffee is complex, nutty, and flavorful. They always roast their beans to perfection, and offer a lovely atmosphere for solid conversation. I do most of my meetings at coffee shops so atmosphere is highly important and conducive to great chatter. I recommend their cold brew and be sure to ask about the process; they are always willing to educate if youre interested. Love this place!

The quality of the coffee at Gaslight is nothing to quibble about. However when it comes down to it, even with the prime location and open windows, it wouldn’t be a coffee shop I would come to and try to get some work done. This is because the chairs, though aesthetically pleasing are generally uncomfortable and you won’t want to stay there for longer than an hour. Still if this isn’t something that would bother you, rest assured that between their friendly service and quality coffee, you’d definitely enjoy your brew.

Baristas: knowledgeable but not psyched to talk with you about coffee. Just friendly enough to be considered not snooty. But dang, they can brew coffee. Roasts: phenomenal. The roasters are at the top of their game, consistently. The beans are the highlight of this business for sure. You get a shot or small coffee when you buy a bag (about $18/bag) Shop: the space doesnt seem to be used effectively, and while the front is well lit, the back seems so dark and crowded, I dont ever like to stay.

Gaslight Coffee is really two places in one. Sure, it feels like the green room for central casting for a hipster sitcom, laptops akimbo, and beards properly trimmed, but it is also the home of Gaslights roasting facility. The smell of freshly roasted coffee fills the area from the street and all through cleverly decorated shop. The coffee is pretty fantastic. On my most recent visit, I had the Brazil on Fetco and found it to be A+ from first sip to last. Strongly recommended.

Top notch local coffee shop in Logan Square. Beans are roasted on the premises and deliver consistently high quality cup of coffee in the shop and at home. Staff are friendly and make an effort to get to know the customers. Would also recommend their baked goods and the brunch menu for some classic favorites with a gourmet twist. Come early on the weekends if you want a table, or be prepared to wait since its a popular place to meet and work.

Moderate-sized, very hip coffee shop. Wood and brick and a few odd touches. Alt rock on audio, slightly loud. 8-10 tables including one big picnic table. Several outlets. Free wi-fi with posted password. Small selection of high quality loose leaf teas. Pastries were all gone but one, but are from the very high quality Floriole bakery. Chai is from a concentrate thats actually about right on sweetness, but has too much ginger.

Five stars because the cafe is down the street from me and the coffee is always delicious. The servers are nice and its a way nicer place to hang out and do work or having a meeting than New Wave. I am constantly overhearing job interviews and business transactions when I go in there. Ample seating, though I think the decor is a little over the top. They also roast on site making the whole place smell delicious.

This open concept wedge of a space was the perfect spot to duck in during a long day on the road. Espresso is pulled with careful attention, and the staff is well versed with the background of any given roast. I love the rustic decor and tables. Its a nice spot to meet up with a friend, or get work done during the day. Choose your seat wisely if youre working on a laptop - theres plenty of sunlight in here.

its so huge! and has a very rustic vibe, with the exposed brick walls and aged wood floors and tabletops. the space is quite bright thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows at the front and the whole shape of the place is spiffy due to it being on an acute angle street corner. the baristas are also super friendly coffee-lovers and they play proper coffee shop music that i can begin to appreciate.

I really like the atmosphere here, lots of reclaimed wood and just a cozy urban-rustic kind of vibe. The coffee is excellent, as one would expect, but their small selection of pastries is a little overpriced. Its right next to a blue line station and a lot of other great dining options so the location is perfect to spend an afternoon and just relax in a coffee shop for a while.

2 visits in, I had a cap both times. Theres definitely a positive vibe here. The pastries look great, the high ceilings and location of the speakers, along w its corner storefront orientation make this place a great spot for any/all people who enjoy good coffee. If youre looking for a spot to be inside your own, or waish to chat and catch up w pals, come to this joint.

Their coffee and tea are good, and they have a nice, if limited, selection of pastries and hot dishes. Their prices are not too bad either - on par with bigger chains, at least. My biggest critique is their decor, which has no cohesion to it; it seems they just took every hipster stereotype available and splattered them over the walls.
