Work downtown? Enjoy simple and cost effective meals? Trying to get ripped? Maybe summer is coming and youre like "Oooohh I need to get that beach body, but all I do is eat chicken fingers and fries for lunch gurrrrr." Look no further. You just got your abs handed to you, dont even go to the gym anymore, its over. All you gotta do is eat Chicken Planet. Show up and order from one a few major selections: The Chicken Meal (full or half), Chicken Roll, or Chicken Salad. All of these meals are easy on the cals and high on the protein. Dont forget those carbs baby, gotta fuel those workouts. The sides and pitas are gonna give you those carbs for that GALLLLLYYCCOOOGEENNN and then when it comes time to start pumping the iron youre gonna feel like another Chicken Planet meal right after the workout to stack the protein again. Just doing cardio? Let the light weight meal lift you into the future not weighing you down like a sack of marbles. Let me tell you a little bit about this thing we call the Chicken Salad Meal. You get this and you order yourself a packet of light dressing and a pita. Youre now sitting on 220-280 grams of pure sweet baby chicken breast and an egg. You cant get these protein gains at Corner Bakery so dont even try. Sopraffina? Take that Italian cuisine back to the lunch date scene. This is Chicken Planet where solo meals were made to thrive. Trying to make that salad meal feel like less than a salad meal and more like a meal thats gonna top that last PR you had in the gym? Take half of that beautifully grilled chicken and shove it into the pita. Take a single packet of the dressing and divide half on the salad and half into the pita. You just tricked yourself into two meals from one. You wont even need seconds. Youre gonna be like "DANG, WAS THAT THANKSGIVING DINNER?" Now check it out, best part: You probably are like "Oh my god Im counting cals on MyFitnessPal whats this gonna do to my macros am I gonna be able to eat more than chicken broth tonight for dinner?" OHHH YEAAAAAH YOU ARE. The chicken salad meal I just shared with you? 648 calories. WHAAAT? AND 66 grams of protein? WHAAAAAAT? Did I just hit 10:1 calorie:protein ratio on a lunch meal downtown? YOU GOTTA BE KIDDIN ME IS THIS REAL LIFE OR AM I IN AVATAR? How much? $8.00 eve-- WHAAAAT? $8:00? You mean I just got 10:1 on cal:pro for $8:00 downtown in the middle of my workday when normally all I have the option of is chicken fries and $12 salads that couldnt satiate a small child? DANGGG THIS PLACE IS LIT. Dont even mess around anymore. Monday through Thursday you hit up Chicken Planet and get those macro gains so later on in the weekend when youre like "Oooooohhh its drankin time" you can come out Sunday on top not feeling bad when you inevitably order Grubhub or go chug down mimosas with your closest fam. Dont even try to top Chicken Planet because you wont.

This place really won me over. The first time that discovered it, there was hardly anyone inside, I took that on face value and choose to eat at a busier (read: more popular) establishment. Passed by on another (cold!) day during lunch hour, and was surprised by the long line almost out of the door. Short on time, it took a 3rd day before I finally went in and ordered the chicken salad. Its been the same 2-3 times a week for 3 months now, and the chicken salad is always fast, fresh and filling! I havent tried anything else on the menu yet, so i wont speak to those items, as the public has already so convincingly spoken. Great for a quick break, yet expect the place to be quite busy during peaks: the line can extend out of the door (not a bad thing at all, more like a good sign). Even during rush hours the staff is patient and efficient. Havent had a bad experience in the last 3 months and have recommended them more than a few times. Heres the online version,

Affordable, affordable chicken! As soon as you walk into this place youll be greeted by the smell of freshly grilled chicken on the grill. Quarter chicken, half chicken, dark, white, mixed and your option of sides including rice, potatoes, slaw or corn. Split a whole chicken with a friend with two sides for about $11 and youre all set! I really recommend this place as a quick stop in for a good lunch, and seating may get hard to find so look to bring it back if youre on lunch or sit outdoors. Make sure to get tons of napkins because youll be finger lickin after gnawing on these birds!

The chicken is great and the prices are very reasonable. The only downside is their sides are terrible as is their BBQ sauce. Really, really underwhelming. Mashed potatoes are runny and bland. The rice nearly flavorless. The corn boiled/steamed to hell and back (and too small a portion). And runny, boring BBQ sauce. If they sorted out their sides and provided good quality and tasty ones this place would probably have lines around the block every day.

I get lunch here at least once a week, and it is one of the best places around for tasty and healthy grilled chicken. The dark is very tender and moist. You might see the line running very long, but dont be intimidated. The service is quite fast, as they have an industrial-sized grill right behind the counter, churning the chicken out very efficiently. 5 stars for taste and service!

The chicken is fantastic. If you like grilled chicken that is done really well this is the place to go. Super good chicken. Great prices too. That said all the sides they serve are terrible (that cannot be overstated) and the BBQ sauce they give you is about the worst BBQ sauce on the planet. Go for the chicken...forget the rest. (Id totally be willing pay more for better sides.)

Great local place for lunch downtown. I used to work in the Sears Tower and come over here. My company moved farther away but I still occasionally make the trek down to get some chicken. You can either get a chicken meal where they cut the chicken up, or get a chicken roll. Ive found the chicken roll can be dry so I definitely recommend the quarter or half chicken meals.

When I first brought home food from Chicken Planet, I was laughed at because of the name. Then they tried the food. Chicken Planet is simple and relatively cheap in comparison to other places to eat in Chicago. You can also stay moderately healthy eating here. While they dont have a significant amount of variety, Chicken Planet is the best at what it does. Chicken.

This is seriously the best value in the city. I try to make it here every week during lunch and order a chicken roll. Its a hole in the wall place that is affordable with almost any budget and has some of the quality of a fancy restaurant. Even if the line looks long, dont be discouraged because youll be in and out in under 10 minutes.
