Ive been going to Chicago Grind since they opened last year (changed owners) about once a week or every other week to buy coffee and vegan pastries, and I always spend $20-$30 there. The employees know who I am, yet when I went into the shop to ask them if they would grind a bag of coffee that I bought from Georges (see my review of them) they refused. I even offered to buy a new bag of coffee from them, plus pastries and spend $30-$40. They still refused, saying their grinders were "sensitive". The beans were Dark Matter beans, which are of much higher quality than Bowtruss which is what Chicago Grind sells. I dont see how a coffee grinder would be able to tell the difference... Georges also refused to grind the coffee even though we bought it from them. Apparently small businesses dont worry about competition anymore. Im going to Starbucks and La Colombe from now on because its so upsetting. Customer service is dead.

My writing group meets at the Grind three times a week so I am there frequently. There lattes are great especially the seasonal ones. Right now the smores and the almond joy are available. The have great pastries and their menu has tons of sandwiches, salads, flat breads and more. They also have grinders which are like the frappes at Starbucks and are delicious. I have met a lot of people at the Grind as everyone is very friendly including the Baristas. The atmosphere is casual and there are both tables and comfortable chairs with a couch. The prices are slightly high but the coffee and food are worth it.

One of my favorite coffee shops! The coffee (Metric) is really good, and along with baked goods there are a lot of sandwich/salad options. I really like the egg sandwiches (add turkey sausage and avocado--mmm!) or the turkey pest panini. Its a good place to work, too. Sometimes it gets crowded and its tough to find a space, but they have as many tables as will fit inside the space. I feel like every time Im there I overhear snippets of really interesting conversations--activism, feminism, generally cool people talking about the world and how to make it a better place.

Love it. I come in from California and need to work remotely. This is my favorite coffee shop on this side of town to open the laptop and get to it. Its clean, pleasant, great staff, excellent beverages and food, diverse customers... cant ask for more. Indoor/outdoor seating, great place to work and enjoy the drinks with a bit of people watching. Get a frequent visitor card if you come here often. Oh yeah, Im here now. LOL

Needed a place to grab lunch and work on my laptop for a while, this place fit the bill. Has free WiFi, sandwich was good, staff was nice, they even let me swap out my coleslaw for more pickle Spears.... Awesome because I hate coleslaw! This place is classy, nice jazz music playing, sophisticated tile backslash behind the counter, wood floors and do leather covered chairs.

I have three compliments for this place: great wraps (I had the very, very tasty vegan wrap), excellent coffee (you guys whip up a mocha latte dream boat), and cool vibes (couches, tables, bookshelves for the perusing... all available). And they are a locally owned business, too, unlike Starbucks. This place will definitely be my new go-to coffee joint.

Chicago Grind has a special discount on a food item every day. If you check in on Yelp you can get a free cookie as well. The last time I visited they didnt have.... Water! So they couldnt make mochas, espressos, etc. Granted, the city was working on the water lines our front but the Grind failed to plan ahead for that...

One of the most pleasant places Ive been to; its a bright spot in the city with a welcoming atmosphere. Both the drinks and food are good (usually cafes have decent drinks but mediocre or junky food). The staff is also friendly and seem happy to work there. Its a good place to relax and work.

Next time you are here, go straight to a seat. Then, take 10 minutes to browse on your device (laptop, cell, tablet). Then, take another 5 minutes to decide what you may want to eat. Then, get up to go order. Make sure the owner is around and see how you are treated. Youll thank me later.

The lavender miel latte is fantastic. The servers are always nice. Plenty of seating, good for two person meetings but not more. The space design and ambience could be improved with some color, signage on the pastries, and a better sound system. Overall a solid neighborhood coffee shop.

A lot of people were reading their books or working on their computers. We had grill cheese toast and a bagel with coffee and tea. Thy were all very good. Amazingly we paid less than ten dollars. They also have plenty of public parking spots at their store front (Sundays for free).

This place is conveniently located off the red line so I stop in before work. Id much rather come here then Starbucks. The staff in friendly, they have a pretty good selection of breakfast and small snack items. They have a lavender miel with honey thats delicious.

The food here is great and its a really great spot to do some writing/work. The wait staff is nice and there is a good selection of different kinds of seating. They even have a free lending library as part of the Edgewater reads program.

The coffee was expensive and they made my order incorrectly (even after I corrected them). It seems like they have a pretty cool menu, lots of small plates to share. I didnt get the food, only coffee. Ill probably give it another try!

Decent coffee and good selection of breakfast items and pastries. Nice outside patio area where you may sit with your dog. Opens fairly late (6 am on weekdays, 7 on weekends) which cramps my style on really earning mornings.

The coffee is good, the atmosphere and seats are nice, people and staff are friendly, and the noise level is just right--not too loud, but not quiet. Definitely a cool spot to hang out.

Great service, pricing, and always a great special each day. The flatbreads are HUGE and well made. Internet service is a bit slow, but its a Cafe so anything is better than nothing.

The food isnt amazing, but its solid choice for coffee and a bite to eat and the wifi is available to get work done. Close to the red line and to the busy part of Andersonville
