Theres a sad dearth of eateries in Rogers Park, and most of the coffeeshops are of the Starbucks and Dunkin variety. If youre a loyola student or Rogers Park local, Charmers is the best place to grab a snack, coffee, or plop down and work. The coffee is the best I can find in the neighborhood- though its Metropolis in origin, its less bitter and more rich than the house coffee Metropolis itself brews. The food at Charmers is also a major step up. Charmers has a build-you-own sandwich bar, a variety of bagels, two huge pastry carts with cupcakes, tarts, donuts, quiches and other delicious fare, and the cafe even sells ice cream! The wireless is also relatively fast and much more reliable than Metropolis (and it doesnt expire after two hours like at Metro), and there are two whole rooms of tables and electrical outlets as well as a patio. If youre in Rogers Park and looking for food, internet, or decent coffee, Charmers is the only place worth your time.

The location is convenient, but maybe they can up the number of scoops of the ice cream an extra one. One day I was sitting outside for a while just relaxing, this lady that works there came out and asked me of I wanted anything, I said no thank you and she told me that I have to buy something if I want to sit outside on the chairs. Yet Ive been there before and used the laptop for 2 hours inside and didnt buy anything, no one told me anything.

Nice staff and good Americanos. Decor is a little dark and I wish they would get their sandwich menu back up and running Update 5/26/17. They have their sandwich menu up and running and a consistent level of pastries in the case! I really enjoy the bagel with egg, cheese, ham & tomato and my day off breakfast!

Its adorable, convenient and cozy! However, should be selling their own fresh donuts and pastries. Not mentioning sandwiches. They are losing money with over priced cold and dry croissants. The juices are super good and the staff is super nice :)

Sorry Im not a regular customer and cant make up my mind. If Im not being rushed the least the barista could have done was educate me about their menu. Not from the area, but baristas are usually supposed to be part of the friendlier bunch.

I buy coffee here every week, wonderful people and wonderful coffee. Coffee is from Metropolis roasters and the charmers blend is probably my favorite. The baked goods are also pretty good if you need a quick pick me up.

Local, friendly quaint place. I live down the block and like to support local businesses. This place is what every cafe should be. One thing Id like to see is more pastries. The ones they have are on a skimpy side.

Cool. Friendly ownership. Its so nice when patrons and staff share chill conversations just like we are all fellow humans in the community versus strangers. True to Rogers Park spirit.

Ive visited this cafe twice in the past two weeks, once for breakfast and once for a quick bagel. I enjoyed it both times and am glad that this kind of shop exists in Rogers Park.

Put some food on your menu that isnt carb-based, and Ill be back! The ambiance was sweet, the coffee was good, and the server was kind. But I need protein and veg, please!

Really cute neighborhood cafe with coffee, pastries and WiFi. Great spot to work or study, L adjacent, and they have a seating area where the seats are swings!

Good little corner cafe. Has all kinds of food and ice cream, soups and donuts along with coffee. A bit pricey but quaint little place.

Way over priced. Stale pastries. If you want to survive in East RP. lower your prices, and fix your menu.
