Incrdibly friendly and accommodating staff, delicious coffee, blues on the radio--- what else could you ask for? The space was converted from a bar and they retained the bar and tables set up. The effect is quite nice; you get the coziness of a bar with the illumination and sobriety of a coffee shop. At least when I went, christmas eve day, the atmosphere was chill. No one screaming for coffee, no suit and tie meetings, no snobbery. There are plenty of outlets for the mobile work force and the internet keeps up with the traffic.

The longer I live in the city, the more Im certain that I have my favorite coffee shops figured out. But then along come Osmium and the favorite coffee shop leader board changes. Iced coffee is spectacular and they always have Do-Rite donuts in stock. If youre looking for a spot with good hours (not 24-hours) to do work without the loud coffee shop noise, this is your spot. The only negative is that they dont have tons of seating but dont be afraid to sit at the bar. Youll be surprised how productive you can be!

Pros: Staff is great, they make a really mean latte, its nice to find a local place on Belmont with all the chains that have popped up there in the past decade of so. Also, theres an incredibly endearing regular named Allen that will most likely brighten your day. Cons: Its not a great place to study, not the quiet coffee shop atmosphere that I need to focus. Not a big deal, just an FYI. Also, just a note.... the draft cold brew is mocha flavored, so that could go either way, depends on your tastes.

I really enjoy the coffee from this local roaster. The first time I came here they had a cold-brew barrel-aged coffee. I was a little hesitant about trying a coffee with such combination of drink fads, but after trying a sample it was delicious. It actually had a slight blueberry taste and Im terrible at picking nuances in taste. The coffee is always good here and the environment is pretty chill. If I lived closer to this place I would probably do some work there on Fridays.

I love this place. I live in Uptown and even though there are tons of coffee places closer I find any excuse to make it down to Osmium. I am not too adventurous with my coffee and always order an Americano, but they are so good, and I really like the space. Get there when the weather is nice because they have plenty of outdoor seating in the back. They serve Dark Matter coffee, which I have come to realize because of Osmium, that it is my favorite.

Excellent coffee bar! Perhaps buoyed by a pretty awful coffee at a different location earlier in the day, my latte (I got their specialty drink of cinnamon, cocoa and agave in a 6oz size) was delicious. Id recommend half sweet as I normally dont get flavored coffees, but still delicious. The staff were friendly, the shop was clean and I liked the layout with the bar set-up. And Im pretty sure they made a regular out of my co-worker!

Came in today as a first time customer and left a lifetime customer. Great coffee for those of us a bit further into our caffeine addiction. The barista I worked with was very kind and knowledgeable and Im kicking myself for not asking her name because I really want her to get recognition for her awesome customer service. She had short blonde hair and was super cute so I hope that helps! Give that employee a raise!!!

I didnt realize Dark Matter had a location on the North side, but I was very excited to stumble upon it! The chocolate iced coffee bombers are a fav of mine and to have it fresh out of the tap cold is amazing! They sell Do-Rite doughnuts which are my all time favorites. The staff was very friendly, and I liked the bar seating area. They take credit cards for small orders which is nice. Ill definitely be back!

I used to fantasize about opening my own version of the ideal coffee shop; a place that most importantly served good espresso, but also struck the perfect balance of unique and comfortable. A good place to meet a friend for coffee, but also to get some work done when I need to get out of the house. Ive given up on that fantasy because I just moved to Wrigleyville and found Osmium

One of the best spots I have found in Chicago for coffee that appeals to the eyes and the tongue; others have said it better than I would. A big plus is the unexpected back patio, where the delightfully painted tables add to the pleasant, mostly peaceful atmosphere. Negatives for me: the wifi was pretty unusable (August 2016) and the front room is extremely noisy when full.

I came here to escape the heat and do some work but the wifi does not work. They have 3 detectable networks but the only one they say they can use is not password protected and apparently is easily overloaded. There are like 6 other people in here and the baristas say theres nothing they can do. Dont come here if you need to work.

The staff are always friendly and the drinks are always made with love. Theres great music playing all the time with sick art on the walls. The have sandwiches, dessert, and amazing coffee. Its a chill spot with good vibes. Definitely check this place out. P.s. tons of seating on their patio too.

The coffee was pretty good [for me], the service was not. We had to flag down the barista, even then one of our hot beverages got to us lukewarm. Lucky for me its not my local cafe, so I neednt worry about returning. The murals are great though, you should check out Jason Brammers work online.

Nice, chill spot for some coffee. Not the best Ive had in the city, but definitely not the worst. Some of the baristas were very knowledgeable and personable. I do always appreciate an attentive barista. The feel of the shop itself is very unique and I enjoyed the artwork in the shop.

If "hipster" means you have to wait 15 minutes for two cups of specialty coffee, then count me out of the hipster fad! Three employees drinking coffee and texting. One batista who appeared to be the only one working. Two-hearted Queens doesnt need 15 minutes to make a specialty brew.

Friendly staff, plenty of seating, and delicious coffee. What more could you want? These guys make a good cup of joe. The ambience of Osmium is fun and upbeat, allowing the creative juices to flow. If youre a fan of unique coffee houses, this is a place you should try out.

Wonderful cafe! I fell right outside osmium during a flash flood and their baristas took me in, gave me towels and some hot tea for about 45 minutes until the storm cleared up. They were great to talk to. And the blueberry tea they gave me was sublime! Thanks osmium!

This was a great coffee shop to check out. The coffee was excellent. I almost exclusively get Intelligentsia when I am in Chicago, and my brother made me go to a different place. So happy I did. Cant wait to go back, although I still love Intelligentsia!

Chill atmosphere with great coffee and knowledgeable staff. Can get a bit crowded, but there always seems to be a spot up for the taking, as long as you dont mind cozying up next to a stranger. Not a lot of food, but close to plenty of to-go places.
