The waitstaff was great, and although he seemed to pay less attention to us than he did our neighbors, it seemed to be based on the fact my wife and I were having a romantic dinner. I stated I was in the mood for a pinot noir, and the one he recommended went excellent with my meal (Irony 09). My wife ordered the Babich 09 Sauv Blanc which I took a sip of and was really good, too. Hints of pineapple, very light and fruity with a feeling of champagne. For the hors-doeuvre I order the pate maison. YUM! Seriously some of the best pate Ive ever had. The mustard and vinegar of the cornichons really brought out the flavor of the pate. The chicken liver mousse was good, but I was all about the pate. RECOMMENDATION: eat the mousse with a dab of butter on the french rolls brought to the table. I thought the crispiness of the toast overshadowed the delicate flavors of the mousse, and the butter did something to it that made it pop. The saltiness, perhaps? My wife ordered the Salade de Pomme, which she said was quite yummy (I was distracted by the pate and didnt try any). For the main course, I had the etouffee, remembering I had read a review that it was really good. And it was. I have this thing with soups that I feel they have more flavor when they have cooled down for 6 minutes. The last few bites seemed better than the first. The shrimp were very fresh and huge. It could have used more crawfish tails, however. It definitely has the kick the waiter forewarned me about (love spicy food), and paired with the wine, it was quite good. My wife had the Porc Calvados, which be both commented on looking completely different than we had expected, seemingly doused in sauce. Which ended up being fine. She killed the gratin potatoes, so apparently they were really good, and she can be picky about meats (too greasy, too fatty, too dry...), but she loved the medallions. I tasted the sauce, and the mushrooms and black pepper were very nice with the hint of apples. We then split a piece of chocolate turtle cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and some coffee. The coffee was just coffee, but the caramel was clearly homemade and really good. I can take or leave chocolate, but I made sure I got my full half. Had we not been seated very early when it was almost empty and placed in what was to become the epicenter of noise and elbow bumps, Id feel comfortable giving this place 5 stars. For the price you pay, its definitely worth it, although Id recommend a day other than Saturday evening, as it was jam packed. Also, I used Savored to book my reservation and got 30% off the bill, which would have been great had the waiter said it when he brought the bill (wife wasnt aware). Meh, it wasnt a big deal, but I was hoping for a bit more discreetness. The service was great (there were times when they were lined up in the back and just waiting to take stuff off, so it might feel rushed if you dont like being rushed), the food fantastic, the decor was welcoming and the place didnt come off snobby...really it was only the tiny table with people constantly passing us that was a distraction.

One of my favorite French bistros. Everyone Ive taken to Cafe Touche if they didnt like it, they loved it. Last week I planned a surprised birthday party for about a dozen people. The staff was so accommodating and so easy to work with. They even helped me pull off the "surprise" part of it. Raphael, our server, was on point and kept the night moving nicely (we didnt feel rushed nor did we ever have to flag him down). Every detail I discussed with the owner or a staff member was executed smoothly. Nothing went overlooked. Many of my guests kept raving about how they loved the atmosphere and how awesome the Pork Calvados, the Salmon, and the Duck were. Theres an intimate, fun, loving vibe that sort of just radiates from the space the minute you step inside. The food, well, Id have to list three quarters of their menu if I were to pick my favorites. The other quarter I just havent tried yet. If I cant decide, I go straight for the pate, roasted beet salad and the duck. Did I mention they have 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesdays? Thank you Cafe Touche! Will be seeing you soon.

My wife and I have eaten at Cafe Touche before and have been satisfied. This time was absolutely the opposite experience. My wife ordered a double salad for dinner with the dressing on the side and a bowl of soup as an appetizer. Incorrectly, the soup was brought out to me and the salad came covered in dressing. I ordered the Bouillabaisse. Eating by myself, waiting for my wifes salad to be redone, the Bouillabaisse came out with a total of only two shrimp, five mussels, one decent sized piece of white fish, and just two other clams. No other common ingredients such as a spit crab leg or a chunk of lobster. For this I was charged $19. for a skimpy salad and $29 for below par Bouillabaisse. Stay clear of this place.

Upon entering, I always feel that every turn I am entering an old manor home with century old decor, entirely new experience. We were welcomed by JOSH, a generous and welcoming server who, from the moment we sat down until the very last moment we left, couldnt have been more attentive and professional. The menus flavors have likewise expanded, reaching from the early classic cooking style to the today techniques. Nothing best than start with the homemade chicken liver pate. Cafe Touche was truly made for all levels of wine drinkers. Wide ranging of wine list that will appeal to every palate.

Went to Café Touche with my wife and two other couples. The experience was fabulous. The wait staff was wonderful and very attentive, the food was delicious, and the ambiance was very warm. I had the pork medallions which were superb, many of our table had the wall eye special and there were no doggie bags for anyone. Overall, I would say this is one of the best restaurants in Edison Park and there are a slue of good establishments in the area. I will be going back soon and hope to bring another group with me. Well worth the expense.

One of the best French restaurants in the city of Chicago! I know... its a bit of a drive from downtown but its worth it! Perfectly tucked up in the beautiful neighborhood of Edison Park, Cafe Touche offers outstanding food, service and atmosphere. Weve had many items on the many and a few of the highlights are the escargot, steak frites and seafood bouillabaisse. Truly awesome.... one of my other favorite French places is Chez Moi in Lincoln Park but this is definitely up there! Give it a try, you wont be disappointed!

My husband and I came here for dinner just to try something new and be fancy. Even though the menu was out of my comfort zone and I expected it, the food was amazing. The waiter was very nice and constantly checking up even though it was crowded. The beverage selection was modest, but you get the best. I absolutely loved this quaint spot, old decor, polite staff. It gives off a very European vibe and it brought me back.
