I"ve been here a few times, but never had the chance to eat a meal here until last night. In the past I"ve come here for an easy happy hour pr convenient drink as this spot, as the name indicates, is right next to the Damen blue line stop. I love the ambiance here. Class, but still casual enought to come in work out clothes as I often do. The happy hour specials are always very reasonable and delicious. Last night we ended up here on our way to a friends place. We chose the bbq brisket sandwich and Metropolitan salad. The salad was a lovely combination of texture and flavors The brisket sandwich was a lovely flavor, but a bit too bold and squishy to go unaccompanied by a coleslaw or other flavir and texture enhancer. The cocaine lady martini was nice, but make sure youre in the mood for very sweet when you order it. I dont believe service reviews should be accounted for in the stars rating, but Ill mention it. We sat at the bar. The woman who served us wasnt unfrienly, but she wasnt friendly if that makes sense. Every other time Ive been these though, the service was good to great. Id go back again!

This diner themed cocktail bar is located under the CTA Damen Blue Line stop. I stopped in on a Saturday by after a night out to grab a quick martini or two before going grabbing the train to head home. This bar has a nice martini menu with various flavors from pomegranate to jolly rancher. The martinis are 9 dollars each. This night I ordered a pomegranate martini that was made really well, so that I couldnt taste the alcohol at all. It tasted like a fruit drink, yet at the same time knowing how strong the cocktail was. The service was very attentive and helpful, the bartender took my drink order after a minute or two. What I like about this establishment, there is a small outdoor seating section if you choose to eat and drink with a view of the street. The bar has a very modern 40s type atmosphere that is great for either date night of hanging out with friends. One thing that is holding the bar back at bit are the awful booths in the front section that need to be to reupholstered. That is only negative.

If you like to support local establishments where the owner is a drunk narcissist who thinks its okay to grab fries off your plate and eat them while your food is in the kitchen window instead of serving it to you, then this is the perfect place for you! But remember dont be mad when this actually happens or confront him about it unless you want to be kicked out and have a bunch of belligerent comments made towards you and your friends as he orders another round of shots for him and his loyal patrons. I will admit his staff was super nice and one of the girls who didnt even serve us followed my friends and I out and apologized for what he had done to us. I honestly feel bad for his staff - hopefully he treats them better than his customers but something tells me hes just an all around piece of ______! FYI - the owner literally told me to go write a review as he was kicking us out (hope he likes it)!

We stopped in after work for a quick bite. We first ordered the drink specials, which were mojitos. Were wondered were they virgin drinks, we could not taste any alcohol. She ordered the turkey burger, and I just ordered the chicken nachos. The turkey burger was not very good. It had some funky taste that would could not determine what it was. She couldnt eat, I tried to but naw, it was not happening. The chicken nachos were okay, except that a good portion of it was plain, you had to grab that part and then grab some of the other pieces to get any cheese, onion and jalapeno on your chips. We ended up sharing those because of the inedible turkey burger. The fries that came with the burger were also cold. We want to give this place a fair shake, so we are going to try it again.

I met friends at this place and was pretty displeased with it. The actual space looks fairly nice and there are TVs scattered around so you can watch a game or whatever else is on. Past that, the place sucks for the very reason you would go: to eat and drink. If you find yourself here, stick to beer. The mixed drinks are weak even if they are reasonably priced. The food is an abomination. My burger, ordered medium, came out burnt beyond well done. Also, the beef was supposed to be a special brand and dry aged for 21 days but it was probably a frozen patty. My friends were similarly displeased with their turkey burgers. The garlic fries, and which cost $4 foe a small bowel, didnt have a hint of garlic. I recommend passing on this place and I will never be back.

I came across this great place about 5 years ago when I was hoping to meet someone coming off the blue line. I never found that one in a million love that day, but I did fall in love with the Blue Line Lounge. I have been coming back ever since and it never gets old. While the menu offers some great tasting standards on American fare it also gets switched up often with additions like tuna tartar, buffalo nachos, or bison sliders as well as some exotic drinks that you have got to try like the Angry Mojito or one of their Martinis! Whether you come alone or with a friend or a group, this restaurant seems to meet if not, exceed everyones expectations for food, drink and a good time. The staff is very attentive and friendly.... Hip crowd as well.

I originally lived in Chicago in 2008 and always wanted to eat here and never got a chance to. I finally made it out and I was very pleased. The service I had was prompt and very good. My server (Jill) was fantastic and was there very quickly and everything came out very promptly and was everything I wanted. The food was good and well priced. As for the drinks, I am an admitted micro-brew beer drinker only, and as far as the beer selection goes it is mostly standard bar beers. However there were a few micro brews on tap that surprised me and pleased me to see. Ill definitely go back and I really thing that its one of Chicagos best hole in the wall spots.

Hands down BEST martinis in Chicago! The pbj martini will blow your mind. Anyone who gives Blue Line a less than extraordinary review clearly did not order the right drinks. The menu is well crafted for a bar. Its not a gourmet restaurant by any means but the apps and salads are much better than expected. The atmosphere is great. Low key, hip, 30 something. Regulars here know not to sit at the bar or a booth. The velour couches near the fireplace are where its at. You just cant beat the $5 absolute martinis on Wed nights. With 30 specialty martinis you almost wish that they dIdnt make them so stiff- so you could try more than a couple.

Let me start by saying that I like this place for drinks; however, the past 2 experiences have resulted in awful service. 45min wait from order placed to served in a 50% full restaurant, unapologetic, and accusatory in tone. This is the same server that I had on another occasion that provided poor service. 3 of the people I was with said that theyll never return. If this was a onetime experience, Id let it slide. Unfortunately, I think the only solution would be to retrain or fire this server to prevent this from occurring to other customers. If Im contacted by management, Id be happy to identify the server.
