Waited over 1 hour for our order, which we never got to enjoy. To start off, the waitress, while taking our order, paused for long periods of time to socialize with her co-workers. One person in our party never got the coke she ordered 3 different times within that hour. The waitress came by various times with orders from parties that ordered after us. When we began to become visibly annoyed with the ridiculous wait (45 minutes at this point), the MANAGER came by and said, "Are you going to leave because well cancel your order right now." Needless to say we ordered over $150 of food and drinks, left after an hour and a half with no food. That wasnt the worst of it... when we requested another table (we were seated at a table that fits 6 but had 7 people), they were clearing it off but then gave it to another group that walked in after we asked for it. I am not bashing the food because we didnt try it. One guy was extremely polite and helpful to us, though he wasnt our waiter. The waitress and the manager were among the rudest of any Ive ever encountered in my life. Never going back- I recommend going to a place with good burgers and good service, sorry but its not this one.

Comparisons with Kumas are the "medium-rare" elephant in the room, so lets get it out of the way: I think Kumas burger choices are more gourmet and unique, but Lockdowns burgers are quite tasty, less expensive and MUCH faster. My wife and I had the Barbed Wire fries. They were very good, but I should have picked something else since I opted for fries with my burger. The Full Metal Jacket looks AMAZING. She ordered the Conjugal Visit (turkey burger, cranberry relish, stuffing, brie) and I had the Border Patrol (jalepeno, carnitas, pepperjack, avocado). The burgers were both delicious and we each took half a burger and lots of fries home. Michelle, our waitress, was friendly with personality and kept us happy. Prices were extremely reasonable, especially in the city (two burgers, an app and a beer for $34, try beating that). Noise levels were loud enough to feel like a rock venue, but we were still able to comfortably talk. Great experience, look forward to my next visit. Id like to see more variety in the burger options, but I know that growth will come with time. Thanks, Lockdown!

My friends and I go to Lockdown once a week on Tuesday. I would say its better than Kumas for a few reasons. Theres less of a wait, theres a half-priced burger day (Tuesday) and the management is much friendlier. The owner is friendly and often stops by to chat with the people eating. Hes quick to help solve any problem. My budget doesnt really allow me to eat there except on the 1/2 priced burger day, but the burgers are worth the price even when theyre not half-off. And theyre a bit more reasonable than Kumas and just as good. The turkey burger is delicious compared to most burger joints where you can expect a dry and tasteless bird-burger. They also have bison options and a veggie burger option. My favorite burger is the Conjugal Visit. Followed by my own Citizens Arrest (Build-Your-Own) Creation. Turkey burger with Merktz cheddar, caramelized onion and avocado with the set-up (tomato, lettuce, red onion). All on a pretzel bun. Only way to do a true burger. Also, I dont drink, but they have a decent beer selection.

The Lockdown Warden at the Lockdown Bar + Grill is great culinary execution. A number of ingredients not found in the typical burger make their way into this masterpiece. A certified Angus beef patty infused with bacon, leeks, garlic, and shallots has melted Merkts Cheddar in the middle of the patty. Top this off with fried leeks and shallots tossed in truffle oil and you have a lot of complex flavor. The melted cheese is rich and the pretzel bun pairs well with the saltiness of the beef. The sweetness from the truffle oil and fried leeks combines perfectly with the bacon and hints of garlic. The amazing part about this much dedication to a single burger is that Lockdown has several more that deserve a top spot on the list as well. In multiple trips to Lockdown I can confirm they are consistent and their burgers always great. Lockdown is devoted to making top quality burgers, and they rank amongst the best in the world. Add in some friendly service, good drinks, and lively music and its a neighborhood favorite.

Didnt know what to expect when hearing of a new rock / burger bar to invade the west side of Chicago. Kumas? Not even close. Service here is top notch and was overwhelmed by the waitress / barkeep to patron ratio. Sure the music could be offensive to some but Lockdown is a conversational piece in itself. Dont let Iron Maiden or the daily slew of concert DVDs scare you away, all senses should be focused on the amazing burgers and fries here. I customized my burger with crispy pancetta and American cheese- bar food doesnt get better than this especially for $8! I could do without the pretzel bun but for that price its well worth it. We also split a mac n cheese which was tasty but the sauce needs to be a tad thicker and the top slightly crispier. Amazing bottled beer list as well, it wont steer you wrong. Check it out before the lines start forming out of the door and onto Western!

There may be many bars in Chicago serving burgers, but I have yet to find one as tasty as this. There are some signature burgers (all with clever names) on the menu, but also a build your own, so you can get it exactly the way you like it. I like mine with cheddar, prosciutto, and a fried egg. While the burgers may be the house specialty, everything else Ive tried on the menu was just as good, including the steak skewer and chicken wing appetizers, mac & cheese, and french fries. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, make sure to save room for dessert. Im sure your thinking like I was, dessert, at a bar? but trust me, youll thank me later. The bar also features a rock n roll concert theme. Overall....food, music, and service were great and the beer was ice cold....I dont know about you, but thats all I really want out of a place.

If I had to compare Lockdown and Kumas side by side, Lockdown would win hands down!!! Not only their burgers are all certified Angus beef, their imaginative pairings are amazing. I tried the Flight Risk, in which you get three little versions of their burgers. The Fat Elvis (with PB and Banana) was strangely good, I cant remember the second one, and the Punk B**** (Gruyere & Prosciutto) was my favorite. But what really sets this burger joint apart is the atmosphere. Our waitress was so nice, I could not believe it. There was no death metal playing on full blast, and their outside patio was nicely set away from the noisy Western Ave in the shade of some big trees. Overall, this will be a definite come-back experience for me when those juicy burgers call me back.

Burgers are the best! Better than Kumas! They have fun and different toppings and the burgers are massive. You can also choose a veggie burger, which is sooo good. There Mac and cheese and fries are great too. Ive been going to this place since it first opened. It had gotten steep in pricing which is a bummer. Burgers are now around 15-18. They do have half off burgers on Tues, which is the only day I will go now that the prices are steep. They have a great selection of local and craft beers and daily drink specials. The patio is necessary as the music inside is super load. But this is a heavy metal joint so what do you expect. Its suprisely kid friendly if you bring some headphones for them or sit outside.
