Overall: A great option for a quick BBQ fix. Fast, easy, and delicious, definitely a good option for lunch or casual BBQ dinner. The good: Great sauces and the meat was tasty. A chipotle-style approach to BBQ, which means it was fast. The mac and cheese is the bees knees, so was the potato salad. Its nothing like legit southern BBQ, but that doesnt mean it isnt good. Lots of sauces to choose from. Plus, beer! The bad: On the more expensive side. Side options are small (I want more mac! :D ). Only 3 meat options (4 on weekends). Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Food: 8.5/10

The best barbecue and most of all the best people. I love this spot. I was having one of the worst days in history and I showed up ready for my freebie with my punch card but I couldnt find it anywhere. I said nevermind and walked away. I noticed they were closed already. The gentlemen up front told me just bring it next time. And beyond that they just made me feel special and not like just amother customer. Thats why I come back. Not a comped meal because I misplaced my card but because of human interactions in a retail setting. Few and far between. Thank you so much.

The menu is confusing, the way it is explained, I thought the salad option meant that you received a sandwich with a side salad. That is not the case, they make a salad and dump the meat on top of it. Not what I was looking for, so I cancelled and we ordered a pulled pork and beef brisket sandwich. We ordered them both Chicago style. The sandwiches were okay, the meat was a little dry and if you want coleslaw on your sandwich, its an extra .99 cents. Not the best barbecue restaurant in the city, plenty of other options. #CitiExperts @Localguides

This place does a great job of taking something simple and really honing down on what makes it good. You get the meat options of pork, chicken and beef in the different ways to eat it. You can get a sandwich, a salad, and a platter with each ranging in different weight of said meat. Since you get to choose your own sauce its tough to make anything taste bad. I highly recommend getting the mac and cheese. They come in this tiny foil cup thats cooked to perfection. My only complaint is that they dont offer a bigger size option.

Disappointing selection of meats (only chicken, pork and brisket) and sides. Im much more used to BBQ joints having a ton of different things from which to choose. Sauce selection is excellent, however. I ordered the pulled chicken to go. Sauce and juice from the pickles seeped through my container and made a big mess. Chicken was on the drier side, but tasty. In short, if Im going to spend $10 on BBQ, Im going elsewhere.

Meat is pretty well cooked, and the variety of sauces is great. However, as a native southerner I felt that they didnt quite live up to their home -grown equivalents. That said, they are more than serviceable and when paired with good meat its not a huge loss. Sides on the other hand were incredibly disappointing and the sweet tea was a letdown as well. The BBQ is a good start but the rest of the combo needed some work.

Brisket is to die for. If you prefer your sauces on the side, make sure to ask for them that way, otherwise your meat will be drowned in sauce before you ever get your plate. But seriously, that brisket is the most amazing thing ever. Sides are generally good. Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans are the better ones, IMHO. Avoid the curious reinterpretation of Elote. Did I mention the brisket?!

Great food, fast casual dine in. Pretty pricey but its BBQ so you kind of expect that. Everyone was really nice on staff. Their menu is very simple and limited. Think chipotle for BBQ except its really good and worth the money! The mac and cheese was awesome. I wish I could just order a whole tray of that! The I chose Kansas bbq sauce because I like wanted spicy BBQ and that was great!

This Chipotle-concept BBQ place is OK, but not great. I tried the two-meat 3/4 lb combo. The pork was pretty good, the brisket was fatty. The cornbread was excellent (just wish I could say the same about the brisket)! Not the greatest value for the serving size. Rubs Backcountry Smokehouse on Western is my favorite in Chicago.

This quick-serve BBQ joint offers platters, sandwiches, and salads. The chicken is particularly flavorful, and I like that you can choose lean and/or fatty beef brisket. They offer six sauces reflecting styles throughout the US including Alabama white sauce. My favorite sides are 3 cheese mac and smokehouse beans.

For Chicago BBQ, this is amazing. Great meats with great sauces at great prices. Live in the area but some how missed the opening of this restaurant. It is well worth checking out. Wrigleyville BBQ and Milts BBQ are easily double the price, but the flavor here is amazing.

Im from Georgia and my boyfriend is from Alabama. We decided to give this place a try since people raved about it. Our southern palettes were disappointed. This isnt good barbecue at all. The flavors were off and the meats were dry. Weve crossed this place off our list.

One of my favorite places. Very simple menu - brisket, chicken, or pork on a sandwich, salad, or platter. The sauces are excellent and absolutely what makes blackwood unique. Try the Alabama white sauce - surprisingly great

wont go again... we went on Saturday night and beans were being scraped from the bottom of the bins, and employee got snippy when I told him I didnt want the last of the batch. Brisket was nothing special. disappointed.

Good portion, nice variety of sauces and sides. However, sauces applied sparingly without additional free sauce available for self-service... I.e. more sauce! Brisket was a little dry too. Okay/average

Good well cooked pulled chicken is why I go here.. That and the pickles.. theyre more of a garlic/pickle mix.. combined with some spicy BBQ sauce theyre really good.

Great food, portions and service. Whoever worked today (1/17/17) wearing the blue bandana was helpful on choice selection. Will go back next time Im in the BBQ mood.

Pretty good! I am from North Carolina and my wife is from Texas so we value our BBQ. Been tough finding decent stuff in Chicago but I really did like Blackwood.

The salads here are amazing. They are super filling, with great toppings. The cornbread and Mac & Cheese and delis too.
